What the ???? Crossed Sabers.....

Man, these stories make us shake our heads, and scratch in wonder.

We’ve been trying for about 18 months to raise enough to finish paying off the replacement truck once the Ram my family had donated years ago finally HAD to be replaced. We got a $5k grant, and borrowed from the core operating funds account to avoid having loan/interest payments… and have been trying ever since to replace the $3k+ borrowed. Even when we got a donor willing to match dollar-for-dollar for all donations made by 7/31, up to $500, we’ve still made minimal progress. We just keep ‘eeking away’ at it, and at fundraisers for other specific needs and for simple basic everyday care – nothing flashy, no threats to euthanize, just requests to help us do what we do every day.

i wanna meet this group in Georgia - I’m sure we can find something interesting to promise to raffle, AND we will actually give them a tax receipt that is actually valid and usable when they do their taxes at year end, we promise!

I wonder if the AG’s office in WV needs to be informed of this ‘fundraising’ activity. It is after all a hefty sum of money that I’m sure being a FOR-PROFIT farm that the state will want their cut of the $$$.

IRS more likely…

Yup fits the description almost to a T.

IRS???

SuperSTB - The IRS doesn’t know she exists apparently. I believe she has never paid ANY taxes …probably since she got out of the Army. Neither personal nor business.

But since she recently applied for WV charitable status …or maybe it’s been a year… I’m thinking they should become aware of the fundraising efforts. It would appear that she wouldn’t be able to claim any under $xxxx dollar exemption if there is one!

I guess I am still on her e-mail list. She has started sending out “we are going to put down all the horses” e-mails again and is running specials where every horse is under $1,000.

Things must be getting bad up there:no:

And the ‘sound’ useable horses are mostly re-cycles that have been adopted over and over and over again. Seems to me that if a horse might have been ‘worth’ a $3000 adoption fee many years ago ( though likely adopted out on a special for less) that same horse isn’t ‘worth’ that amount 6-8 years later after being re-homed a couple of times!.. Now available for $900 at 21 years old!

Perhaps some of the oldies time really is overdue. She rarely thinks that horses that are suffering SHOULD be put down! Many rescues have animals that tug at people
s heart strings and are real $$$ finders…

Reported.
