what to wear to wegs

Food is definitely on the list of items you can’t take in.

I’m doing this trip on a thin shoestring, so I’m making plans for how to avoid buying food any more than I can help. I’ll have a cooler in my car, and I plan to have a “car meal” in the car after parking and before getting out to head for the entrance. My goal for the trip is to only actually purchase one meal a day and eat the rest from what I have along with me.

I did find some of the restrictions a little over the top.
Try telling that to the boyz from Hometown Security :smiley:

You’re not one of them terrier-ists, are you?

10C = 50F
15C = 59F
20C = 68F
25C = 77F
30C = 86F

For shorthand, think
50-60F=10-15C
60-70F=15-20C
70-80F=20-27C

Yep. Security will be tight and gladly. I would rather wait in line and have something not happen then the possibly some crazy comes. Though I doubt it rather be safe than sorry.

FBI, US Marshals, US Army Reserves, and several other agencies I can’t remember will all be there.

Spring and fall are much the same here in KY–soooo, if you’ve been here for Rolex you know to expect anything. Rain, sleet, snow, heat, fog, drought (that would be now), tornadoes, etc.

Plan on layers, and comfortable shoes. I’m sure Carson K. has a limo, so he won’t be walking far too far in his Jimmy Choos. But you should plan otherwise.

OBTW- there are some killer drag queens in Lex, so the contest could be fun!

What is 70’s in Celsius ??? I was wondering about the weather, as I am coming from Germany. No idea what to take. bnut I guess I will do the “onion-look” Lots of layers that can be taken on and of…
Alexandra - when will you be there? I would love to meet you but I am only going for jumper week.

as to what to wear?

Comfortable clothing - whatever that is for you :smiley:

Equibrit may only have been commenting that it won’t matter what you wear - to anyone there that is:lol:. Thousands of folks - doubt they will register attire - I intend to layer as necessary, have comfy walking shoes, and have one or two "dressier"attires - but don’t really think those are for WEG per se but for dinners, etc.

changing weather

I’ve been watching the weather outlook for WEG to help me pack yesterday it said sunny everyday from sun on. TODAY it says rain, rain, rain, mon-wed? Maybe tomorrow it will change the forecast back to sunny, sunny, sunny :slight_smile:

I thought I read that the banning of umbrellas was so other spectators could see and wouldn’t be soaked by someone else’s umbrella dripping on them.

Let me tell you how glad that I am that someone asked this question. We are almost front row for the Dressage and all I need is to show up in jeans and everyone else be in their Sunday best!

The western world has a good answer for this: Jeans + nice top/jacket and either southwestern or crystal belt and accessories. Works everywhere, and will be my plan.

Oh, and my solution to the ‘no umbrella’ rule is to take my clear plastic western hat cover (like a plastic helmet cover) and I will put it over my sun hat if needed. You can buy the clear western hat covers in any western store.

Well, I’ve been to GP freestyle night at Devon, and I didn’t see many jeans and t-shirts or sweatshirts. Granted these days, nice jeans can get you most anywhere if you dress it up like Plumcreek stated. That’s going to be my plan, I think: nice dark jeans and a nice jacket or top with some jewelry - and I’m ready to go most anywhere.

There’s a saying in Kentucky…if you don’t like the weather, just wait an hour. As the other poster said, it could be anything. And the forecasting is not too great a couple of days out. I really doubt snow though, but all the rest…a definite possibility.

I’m praying for rain. Sorry everyone. It’s very dry here and my allergies are killing me.

I promise anybody that you will not be the only person at the Freestyle in jeans, because I’ll be there in jeans myself. :yes: This is a vacation. I intend to dress comfortably for walking around the Horse Park all day, i.e. jeans, sneakers, T-shirt, maybe light jacket if needed (referring to the article of warmth, not the article of stylish attire), and I’m not changing in a Portajohn on KHP grounds at the end of the day just for fashion. Anyone who doesn’t like it is free to look at the horses instead of my attire. :slight_smile:

Today was hot and really windy. It just poured something crazy here but is done. Tomorrow and the rest of the week in the 70’s so far.

Pix please :smiley: and if Carson is there, they’ll know about it

hell, they’ll probably kick me out of the hospitality tent

No where on those tickets did it say anything about a dress code…

I’m dressing for the weather. If they don’t like my paddock boots and hacking jackets, tough. My hat will be functional, but it might not match.

I only have ONE purse. But hey, it’s not the size of luggage, it isn’t shiny, but it does hold the credit cards and the cash.

After looking at the weather forecast which, as of yesterday, showed a 60% chance of rain for the dressage freestyle, I went to SportsChalet and purchased one Emergency poncho (99 cents) and one “Fashion” Vinyl Poncho ($3.99). Both appear to have hoods. I figure I’m good to go. And now there is no rain in the weather forecast for that night.

Fall has hit the Bluegrass. After temps yesterday in the 90’s, a cold front w/ RAIN :smiley: came through last night…temps this morning are in the 50’s. High in the 70’s today.

Hello Fall, Welcome to Lexington, Nice of you to finally join us :lol:

Dressagetraks, I’m also on a very tight budget. Bringing most of my meals from home in coolers, so my main expense will be ice. Planning to do some tailgate cooking on camp stoves and Shikari grill.

But if you can wait until you get to Lexington, do your sandwich shopping at the Liquor Barn. Killer bread, meats and cheeses, along with a vast array of drinkables.

At the Kentucky Experience, there will be food sampling and the French will also have free food samples at their Normandy booth.

One real meal per day just about covers my eating plans.
