Cracked at the last minute and bought a R/T ticket on from NYC to CVG Friday night. Get a good nights rest near the airport then and drive down to KHP for XC day. Totally nuts to do plus I had no vacation time (unexpectdly changed jobs). But the chance to see Team USA plus the European, NZ, Aussie riders/horse (Pippa, Toddy, Tina Cook, P.Tapner, S.Griffiths, M.Jung, I.Klimke, etc) going XC on a fall afternoon KHP was to hard to resist : )

Personally, I find the “bring a small bag” and “you’re stuck there all day” and “dress in layers you’ll be outside and it could be raining” to be somewhat in conflict.
I would caution that the way I read the instructions, that the no re-entry policy suggests to me that you will not be allowed to go out to your car during the day either.
Yes, no re-entry means you cannot go to your car.

Exactly! I rode this morning in Midway…absolutely beautiful! A slight breeze, sunny, and perfect riding temp. Riding was heaven this morning

My goodness, Equibrit! That is why I seldom post here. Some people are so rude. Of course, I’m not thinking of wearing “evening wear”.
I meant more along the lines of “are jeans appropriate for the dressage freestyle finale?”[/QUOTE]
She’s such a meanie that Equibrit.
Heck people like her mean I just don’t daren’t go out for fear of not being able to make a decision about which clothes to wear!
Seriously… how do people manage going about their day to day lives!

Now Thomas, you know that a prudent lady takes a car full of clothes options to a function, peeks into the window from outside to see what everyone else is wearing, then changes into the appropriate outfit before entering. Just common sense.

She knows her own mind and decides all by herself what she’s going to do.
I’d never be so stupid as to think she’s that dumb she wouldn’t know how to get dressed!
Hey Everyone, I went today to WEG and it was…AMAZING!!!
Yes there is a lot of walking so wear comfy shoes. I had capri’s, a Bright orange polo (have to support my homeland ) Hat, and a fleece jacket. It was Chilly today, I wish I had worn jeans because the wind was fierce, but the sun came out and that made it nice. But overall with the walking, I honestly didn’t think it was that bad. We took the Lextran bus to the main entrance and I walked maybe a just a tad more than at Rolex. There was a lot to see and the grounds look absolutely beautiful!!!
Have a great great time!
No re-entry? Seriously? With Rolex your general admissions pass allows you to enter and go back to your car for lunch, then re-enter for the afternoon sessions. Will call the WEG office tomorrow to confirm, but can anyone who is there now confirm this bit of confusion: can you enter the events, then come and go back and forth to your car if you need to? I’m attending with a Senior Citizen and we may have to return to the car for meds, water, snack, etc. and then re-enter the grounds for afternoon events.

No reentry. Once you leave the park including going to your car you cannot re-enter the park.
Call and check how they would do things with people needing medicine.
Thursday PM Freestyle Dressage?
Thanks, SmplySweet1021, will do that. So, from what I can understand, if you purchase an “event” ticket (such as we have done for Friday’s Eventing Dressage portion), that gives you the morning and afternoon sessions of Eventing Dressage. The 7 pm Friday evening Grand Prix Freestyle Dressage is a separate event, giving us a separate grounds pass entrance (as each event includes grounds pass entrance). I wonder if we’ll be able to go out to the car at the end of the day Friday, after the daytime Eventing dressage, but before the Freestyle Dressage, and perhaps get what we need, then re-enter the park on our Grand Prix Freestyle Dressage ticket.
Seems to me the no re-entry policy was a way to guarantee spectators would have to spend a heck of a lot of money on crappy overpriced food. (Makes me feel a bit of a prisoner of the event…) Will definitely call the WEG office tomorrow…

Compared to other large sporting events prices were reasonable
At Rolex I think the prices for food have gone from decent to outrageous. Here a large and yummy pulled pork BBQ sandwich was $7 Drinks were $3 Sandwiches were anywhere from $7-10.
