What's in a name?

Mine’s really easy. Let’s see, first name Erin, last name Bardwell. OHHHH I get it! Can get confusing having a moderator named Erin though…

here is a list of all my personalities I can remember:
Moody/ Moodyhorse- was my awesome one of a kind gelding.
Epona- is a celtic pony goddess, and my pony’s nickname
Jain- funky spelling of my mare’s name Jane
Crazylegs- 50’s slang for a dancing teenager, reminded me of my horse doing the jitterebug in the aisle, and I wanted something other than Jane when i started calling her Ginger (from Black Beauty- the spinny snappy chestnut who is rehabiliated to people)
Wronglead- because for a while she wasn’t picking up one lead
BossHoss- Ginny’s opinion of herself
Clear as mud?

Astraled is what happens when you’re picking a screen name, your horse’s pedigree hangs on the wall and AOL is driving you insane because it won’t let you have a screen name. He’s Twana’s g-g-g-greatgrandsire. I’m really attached to it now, use it everywhere but the dressage BB, where I just use my actual name.

HS![]( = Horse Show Mom. Picked this name when I first ventured onto the internet and found some horse boards, presumably to learn more about the thing my dtr spends so much time and energy on. Having no previous knowledge and experience with horses myself, I wanted to make it perfectly clear that I was not pretending to know anything at all - “Just a little ol’ HSM, that’s me!” Thanks to my esearch pals and you guys, I’m not so dumb anymore!

PS to Goodmudder: Dang!! [IMG]http://www.chronofhorse.com/ubb/mad.gif) I was gonna write that book! Guess I’m too late - where can I get it though?

Ditto (except, stepsons), but you should explain “wicked” to those not from Massachusetts/New England, unless it is more universally used than I think…

When family life got silly, I told them I was giving new meaning to the phrase, in loco parentis

I sincerely hope I don’t have to explain my user name…

I’ve heard of this and always wondered what it meant? Sounds military though I doubt that it is…

This is my nickname from my husband. He rarely calls me by my given name anymore…LOL.

My schnauzer’s name is Merry! Plus I guess I’ve learned to be more “merry” about what life throws in our path. After all, we only live once… I think, although sometimes when I look in the aforementioned schnauzer’s eyes I think I see my grandmother staring back at me.

The first time I checked out this BB there was a thread, a little bit (no, A LOT) nasty, about equitation riders.

I was in such a rush to post in defense of my daughter & her friends… I had to pick a screen name right away (and not my own name or my kid would’ve been embarrassed). As I was typing, the phone rang and it was a lady named Bertie…so I figured ‘good enough’…

I wanted to use one of my horses names as my BB name. But I have two horses, at present, and didn’t want to show favoritism by picking one name over the other. Just imagine the “sibling” rivalry that might ensue! Then I said, okay, I’ll use one of my chihuahuas names — but damn! I have two of those too! It’s all about jealousy management.

So, void of any other clever solutions, I went with the division I ride in at shows: “3ème categorie”. But I didn’t think American keyboards had easy access to “è”. So, 3eme. Voila.

Two horses, Portia and Lucien. Lucien is a male. Portia is a female. I’m a female. Portia’s hair is grey. My hair without the highlights …

FairWeather is the name of my farm-to-be…I’m a fairweather rider…

I showed once at New Canaan Mounted Troop! (Back in. . . hmmm. . .maybe 1973-74??)

Oh My!!! This was my 1000th post!!! Eeeeks!!

Hey - and it wasn’t even on a fashion-driven thread!!!

The f![](rst horse I rode was a pinto. Dad said he looked like the Twister game. Have I dated myself??? [IMG]http://www.chronofhorse.com/ubb/eek.gif)

um let’s see…i think my first name is Gwen…so…yah it is my first name!!

Nylar was the name of the TB gelding I was leasing when I first got the internet. Figured it was unusual enough that no one else would ever choose it as a name!

I still can’t figure out why I used my boring initials instead of my horse’s nickname, which is Mackie (short for registered name Fleetwood’s McIntosh, or one of many other names she’s had including her current one, Lady Macbeth).

Even better would’ve been mackie-moo because she’s a pinto accused of looking like a cow, and when she sees me, she moos at me with her deep voice!

It’s my division at shows, Childrens Hunters. I would have gone with my pony’s name, but now I have my horse, and I didnt want to “favor” one of them… and HooliBenji didn’t look too good

Bay![](are is our farm name. It started as a bit of a joke when we were showing on our own and our whole operation consisted of one bay mare. When our second horse was also a bay mare, we figured that was it. Besides, I have a thing about bays (the best things often come in plain brown wrappers), and I am a confirmed “mare-person.” So there. Last year I almost bought a horse in Hobson, Montana. A tiny town (pop. 734) on the high prairie. Horse did not pass vet check, but I was going to call him Hobson in honor of the funny little place he came from. Then bought another horse here in PA, and couldn’t for the life of me think of a name for him, so I recycled “Hobson,” which fit perfectly. Seemed like a good name for horsey-related online stuff.
