Sure but she said that she was looking for a sport horse sale on the first page. And she is not asking on the racing forum. I get that she was possibly being proud of her foal in her above description. That never happens on this forum…
I think the reality was already mentioned in the second post. No need to call someone’s breeding program down or repeatedly tell them their horse is not bred well for the track if she is looking for a sport horse sale.
Should you bred tb’s for sport if they are not from super accomplished lines? Probably no more then breeding Wb’s without super accomplished lines. But the Wb isn’t bred for another sport and then discarded when it doesn’t make the grade, so in the end the OP might have bred as good of a horse as many Wbs (that will bring in more) but she probably will not get as much unless she can show the worth of the foal to the buyers.[/QUOTE]
I certainly don’t want to hurt the OP’s feelings and I don’t think that anyone else here does either.
The OP has stated that he/she has bred horses for 30 years and advertises as a breeder of “Painted Thoroughbreds” however he/she seems to be unaware of the basics of TB breeding (as is shown by the conviction that this stallion is suitable as a sire of racing TBs).
Breeding “not for color but for quality” can hardly be done without the basic knowledge of pedigree and it’s importance in producing either sport or racehorses.
I don’t think that anyone here wants to be “mean”. I am just surprised by this breeder’s lack of knowledge, insisting that an unraced stallion’s get has an “outstanding pedigree for racing” when it clearly does not.
Hopefully the breeder is aware of the status of the stallion’s get and if they are eligible to be registered with the Jockey Club or not, and if any of the offspring have had their registration revoked or denied. Those are important considerations for any breeder and all get should be represented as they are, either registered or not.
