I mostly do dressage, and I’m a geek (I don’t look like one - no glasses, no lab coat [really, you almost never wear one in real life], and I have aquired some social skills).
For example, SandraD, are you still a virgin, or is that your name?

Rock of Ages is my old pony Rocky’s show name. http://image12.webshots.com/12/3/3/41/365530341WPITli_ph.jpg <— please ignore my riding and just focus on how adorable he is! That’s at our last event in 01.
I wanted my name to be Carried Away which is Anndee’s show name, but it’s already been registered on here… by my sister, who had her for the last 8 years - so I guess she can keep the name…
I drink Hazelnut coffee every AM and I was drinking it when I logged in for the first time…
Ishi is the name of my dog. Ishi Inu, my doggie soul mate and horse show dog extronaire! He is 8 this year, he’s been all over with me, been coming to horse shows since he was 8 weeks old. He’s slowing down a bit, but he still goes every where with me, he is 120 pounds of sweet Akita. When he wants to be
this has been my login for just about everything for as long as i can remember, and has absolutely nothing to do with equestrian jumping. I ran track-and-field and was a high-jumper beginning in middle school and ending in college (when they wouldn’t let me be on the varsity team and the IHSA team at the same time because track coach was afraid i would get hurt i was a walk-on, so i didn’t think too much of walking off). my personal best was 5’6", so not great, but good enough to compete division 1 for 2 years!
i will admit that one day i’d like to ride in the high a/o’s so it’s still relatively appropriate.
I don’t know why this popped in my head.
I love the Olympics and a few of my relatives always refer to me as “the princess”…I somehow combined them when I signed on somewhere one day.
There are times I’m tempted to lose it, but it just wouldn’t be right.
did deltawave post on here yet?? I just learned about “delta waves” in Biopsych the other day. I thought of her right away.
When I got my first email account with AOL, I wanted my address/screen name to be “CarolD” (my name). That was taken as was most variations (CarolDee, CaroleDee, CaroleD, etc). I finally ended up spelling Carol “Caryle” and tacking on “Dee”. Now I use it for most of my log-ins, as I HATE trying to find log ins that aren’t taken. I’m pretty much guaranteed that caryledee will be available!
I got my bb name from when I lived in Japan… My English name was always difficult for my Japanese friends to pronounce so I asked them to give me a Japanese name… it was Cherry Blossom season… hence Sakura.
Long story short…Everyone in the barn had the same saddle…2 boarders…Ailene and Eileen…“Whose saddle is this, Jewish Ai’s? No, Irish Ei’s…” Farm to be is Irish Ei’s,LTD. LTD energy, funding and experience
I was lurking forever over here, but had never registered. When I finally decided to come out of lurk mode to post I needed a handle and the one I use at Thoroughbred Champions didn’t really make sense (name of my favorite turf mare), so I needed a new one. I stared at the screen for a while and decided to use a name that would sum up the reason for my post (it was a thread somehow related to the slaughter debate…don’t remember what in particular anymore). Then I got interested in the old CBER thread and the name just made sense.
I was on my way home after being in NZ for awhile and heard a song about “cowboy logic”- I thought it was a cool song and it reminded me so much of NZ (the part about the cowboys and the gates) - that I then named my one horse that- and then I used it for my bb name too.
In the 60’s there were riding dolls “Jane West” and her sister “Josie West”. My sister and I would call eachother “Josie Rider” when we were acusing the other of show-off riding or thinking we were so smart. You know “oh, you think you are just Josie Rider, don’t you”!
PS, did anyone else have the Jane and Josie dolls?
The mensa group - is that for smart horses or for smart people with horses? Because I have to tell you, I know very few scientists who are in mensa. When I read the little mensa tests in the back of the airline pubs, I always think they are geared to a very specific type of intelligence. It certainly doesn’t measure creativity.
But I would have my horse join up if we could get a ribbon for his stall that says “Mensa Horse.”
Scratch that. I’ll call Hodges and have some made. My barn mates will be so jealous.
I’m named after the first horse that I bought for myself. Sebastian was his barn name. I called him Up In Lights at the shows.
Seb
Mine is pretty boring. I am “mom” to 4 babies (or at least I was when I did the name, now it’s more due to our filly) - 2 human children and 2 pony “children”.
my boys reg. name. its the only way to remember when i log in and nobody has the same.
1177398 is the AQHA registration number for my mare, Blue, who went to the Bridge last winter. I use it for all of my bulletin board user names, because I can guarantee that no one else has!
When I was 8 years old (ahem, back in 1968!) we took a family vacation from St. Louis, MO, to the Grand Canyon. Of course Route 66 was the only major highway back then, but stretches of it were being replaced by Interstate 44.
This was the first time I can remember being out of Missouri. As a child I felt as if I was traveling to foreign lands. The landscape was SO different from my home state.
It was also on this trip that I discovered that you didn’t have to be on TV to have a horse! People other than Little Joe, Hoss, Adam and Ben Cartwright owned horses! In their backyards! And they rode them, too!
It just was the most amazing thing. It was then that I fell in love with the Southwest, and horses.
Route 66 symbolized a lot of things for me. It opened my eyes to new cultures; new scenery; a realization of the American Indians; new foods; and just the excitement of being “on the road.”
My first horse was my 40th birthday present. He came from Oklahoma, and my trainer (a very tough cowboy-type) didn’t care about finding out his name. We have his papers, but never knew his barn name. So I wanted to tie in the Route 66 theme, and hence his name became “Tulsa.”
My BB name is abbreviated from “Get Your Kicks On Route 66”. IMO opionin the best version of this song is done by Asleep At The Wheel.
Funny, but with my fondness for western things, I prefer to ride English!
My bb name is my horse’s registered name. He’s my pride, my joy, my precious baby, and my snuggle bunny. He’s a huge momma’s boy and its obvious I love him (see above unnecessary baby talk). I also call him Lucasiono…tho I was advised by a former trainer to never call my horse that again .
