BDJ is short for “blackdogjo” - my email addy from long ago - picked because my name is Jo, and (lo and behold) I have a black dog (who came, prenamed Joe - I swear it - I’m not that conceited)… I always tell people that we tell our mail apart (and yes, my dog has gotten mail before) because of the difference in spelling.
Not very horse-y, but it works and I can remember it!
(There’s also a very obscure Iron Chef reference in there…)
this one is an alter…
Winston Salem was MY cat- big Maine Coon. he was that one special pet in your lifetime that is closest to you.
I named Winston after travelling thru Winston Salem, NC on a trip w/ my mother and aunt.
he died of cancer at age 8. by the time he showed any symptoms, the vet did exploratory surgery and it was everywhere- he never woke up.
Not very creative… my first name, middle initial, first letter of last name. Couldn’t think of anything else in a hurry, and couldn’t wait to join you all!

back when email was first available I had an idea that having NAG in my name might slow down the porn mail.
didn’t work.
you can also think of me as a warrior princess as in
Liz ATHENA g.
the mensa horse special interest group is called NAGSIG which is where I got the idea of using Nag to express my horse connection.
(I am not a member, I think I read about the group in a Equus mag years ago) </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Athena is the goddess of wisdom. Greek, I believe.
snkstacres- thanks for explaining that. For some reason, my mind always transposes your name as “stanks acres” and I just couldn’t understand why you would choose that…“sun kissed acres” is soooooo much better
Alas, I am the mommy of Hunter and Hayden, often called H1 and H2.
I am silly. I am a girl. SillyFilly has just always been something I like saying!
Stole it from another BB!
I have loved horses since forever. (actually, it started with unicorns, but since I can’t have one of those, horses are the next best thing ) and I have always had the dream of having my own farm, and a little herd. I still plan on making that happen for myself someday. But until then, I’m “still dreaming.”
I was eating “Cellas” chocolate covered cherries, when I joined.
I stand 5’3" and wear a size 5. (or will again in the spring- holidays you know.) may have to adopt the alter ‘6’
my name
My mare passed away last year and her name was Phebe. The 1320 is how much she weighed. I found this out when she was weighed at a University Medical Center before she underwent her surgery. I really miss her. I sometimes wonder what we would be doing together in the way of competing if she was still alive.
My first horse “Tenny”!
Because after Xx years riding, I am still working on it … ie riding. And, I think, I always will be - whether riding or learning about other things. Student’s horse taught me something new tonight! How to explain hot to get inside flexion - step into your inside stirrup and “turn”. Worked a treat …
I mostly do dressage, and I’m a geek (I don’t look like one - no glasses, no lab coat [really, you almost never wear one in real life], and I have aquired some social skills).
For example, SandraD, are you still a virgin, or is that your name?
A few years ago I was taking my youngest son foxhunting and teaching him the etiquette and proper terms such as “ware hound” and “ware staff” etc. One day we were hacking in early (my son was about eight years old) and he suddenly calls out to me “ware fox mommy!” as a lovely big red dog fox sprinted across the trail directly in front of us, practically right under the horses’ noses. Very warm memory which I like to keep with me.
Nothing exciting. I have two Arabian geldings, thus, arabhorse2.
Altar is spelled wrong on purpose. That’s part of the joke. By the way, the real me is not a ribbon 'ho.
But I do have a certain new found fondness for Dressage Geek. Who IS and is making it seem, well, okay.
My first family dog was named “Duffy”. We followed us to church one Sunday. He was waiting outside for us after the service and then followed us back home.
The first “fancy” horse I ever got to ride was at summer camp. His show name was “Maker’s Mark” and his barn name was “Duffy”. (He’d been donated to Ethel Walker because he wouldn’t jump a course over 2’6", but man, he was gorgeous and moved the best!
