My username is rather obvious for the simple reason that to my “herd”; I am the oatbag. All my pasture/barn critters come running when they see me in the mornings. “I want some hay, an I want some 'falfa, an I want some oats, an I want some flax, an I want some treats an I want some scritches…”
The first letter of my horses names… Jackson, Maddie, Joe, Haydar and Pebbles.
OH Erin peterson, thank you so much!!! The lady I bought him from 7 years ago, said she was told that the man who Bred him had his Honeymoon is a city called that in France! I never could find it in the Atlas! Your the best! thanks again!
My horse was pretty green when I got her. She’d been in training to be a polo pony, so all she knew was run, turn, stop. While re-training, I realized I was very afraid to get on her because she was sooo fast and could take off like a shot.
I could only ride a couple days a week due to my work schedule. When I complained to my trainer that she wasn’t progressing, he said, “If you want her to get better, ya gotta ride her!”
I ride dressage… and wanted something that was like an extension of that- like hunterested (sp?).
Casey’s Rye Whiskey was the first horse that I bought. So I though Caseys Whiskey would be kindof cool. What a great guy!
I changed to my currentone in the runup to the release of Seabiscuit.
I’m proud to be a fan of the great War Admiral. Nowadays Avery definitely qualifies as the best TB I’ve ever owned, but second best was my first OTTB, who was a son of WA and actually looked a good bit like him. I’ve loffed the Fair Plays ever since.
Kerby - a cute little grey mare I use to ride a Llllooonnnggg time ago. Of course I had thought about changing my name to the horse I ride now…“Buckwheat”
I can’t see your pictures!
Horse Protection League because I’m a board member and longtime volunteer.
Shahrazade is the one with a real meaning. It’s for the Arabian Nights fable’s teller of 1,000 stories. For those of you not familiar with the story, the sheik’s favorite concubine slept with a eunuch (don’t ask me how) and he felt so betrayed that from then on whenever a girl was called to share his bed, if she refused she was executed, and if she agreed, she was executed afterwards.
Most of the women were sure their only chance was to capture the sheik’s heart, but Shahrazade, when called upon to perform this act, instead captured his mind with a story. When she had talked all night and the sun had already begun to rise, the sheik told Shahrazade to sleep and continue the story when she woke. Thus, she because the first woman to survive a night with the sheik since before he was ‘betrayed’ (turn-abouted) by his favorite concubine. When the next night came, she didn’t finish the story, but instead segued into another story. This continued for 1,000 nights. Finally, the sheik changed his ways and married Shahrazade, allowing her, as his royal consort, to make many of the decisions in his lands.
I picked the name because “Arabian Nights” describes the frequent rides I take after dark with the various Arabs I ride during the short days seasons, and 1,000 stories doesn’t quite cover my capacity to chatter about my horses.
I have zero creativity. I ride adults and at the time that I registered, lived in SC. I am thinking of changing my name to:
AdultHunterW/OhorseB/CiLIVEinMONEYpitMIAMI
I do not think too fast on my feet. When I was signing up for this BB and needed to put in a name, ChesterCounty was the first thing that popped into my head. It is the PA. county I live in and since I am such a minimalist, I figured that was good enough!
hard to forget since they ask every time…
Gdolapp a shortened version for
good old appaloosa wich was my old boy chipper
he crossed at the age of 33 three years ago.
my other horse is also an appaloosa and
is a young guy at 8 so hopefully Cherokee
and I have many more years ahead of us.
Mine’s kinda obvious, I spose.
I’m a sucker for TBs and a fan of literature and puns.
“Drakaina” is an ancient Greek word for a female dragon. And I think that’s cool.
Moe is Dutch, and I believe his papered/show name is Mageallen. He has the most massive tail I’ve ever seen on any horse. Think four fake tails, together. It is kept in a tail bag all the time because of its massiveness.
When I decided to sign up here, it hadn’t occured to me that they’d ask for a screen name (duh!) I couldn’t think of anything clever, but I had just bought my third horse, and wanted something in reference to that. ThreeHorseNight just came to me, and I figured that if I waited to think of something more clever, I never would.
As for stringing the three names together (ThreeHorseNight) instead of having spaces between them (Three Horse Night), anybody who was around in the dark ages of computers will remember that you couldn’t have spaces in file names, user names, etc, so I got in the habit of not having any spaces and using underscores or stringing things together…
Nickname in high school. Some days it fits, others it doesn’t.
