What's the story behind your bb name?

Heard this song on CBC one morning and I mentioned it to my husband who was commuting from over an hour away at the time. He went on the internet, found the artist was performing near us and away we went. Come shine always reminds me how much I love him.

A folk song by David Francey on the CD Skating Rink:

come rain or come shine

Long road, dark night, nothing but headlights
But I’ll see some bright lights when I get home to you
Framed in your doorway with your arms open wide
I’ll hold you in my arms, enfold you inside

Sometimes I wonder what you see in me
Is it someone you’re wishing or hoping I’ll be?
Sometimes I wonder, I can’t help myself
Will you love go someplace, with somebody else?

Sometimes you wonder what I see in you
Just picture the sun on an ocean of blue
Just picture that ocean so deep and so wide
Feel the sun on the water, feel the pull of the tide

And I want to tell you
Come rain or come shine
That I’ll always be your love
If you’ll always be mine.

I stole my horse’s name. He’s Of Regal Means, but I just used Regalmeans.

Mine is because I’m from Vermont (hence Vt) and I had 2 dobes (hence dobes) so I was “vtdobes”. I’ve used the name for the last 8 years and unfortunatly my last dobe passed away this past November at the ripe ol’ age of 13 (miss you so much Boo!!). So now I’m vtdobes but without the dobes :frowning:

Dressage Art - is the name of my website www.DressageArt.com and this is what I do - Dressage Art - I paint english (mostly dressage) horses and also offer gifts with images of my paintings. (Also I do some silly/funny horse t-shirts, but that’s just for fun)

all my friends call me SHMEG!!!(Sexy, Hott, meg!!) haha and because i have a slight lisp…its not like when i say scissors its SHISHORS or anything…just a little…buzzing? not sure of the word…

and the <33 is just for fun!!

Although I’m not that “OLD”. I feel like my last horse and all that I experienced/went through with him (which was NOT good) - I really should of known better. Thus 2old2nobtr.

Dressage Art, I LOVE your website!

I want to have a T shirt of being bucked off a horse that says, “I was bucked off by a granddaughter of Secretariat.” I just found out at an RPSI inspection that my OTTB mare is a granddaughter of Secretariat, and that may be my only chance at any claim to fame  . She launched me much in the manner of the people on your T’s, only I was struggling to get my feet under me to prevent from landing on my behind. No such luck. She has since repented of her buck (she’d never done that in the 4 years I’ve had her), but I’m not real enthusiastic about climbing back up there! It had been about 9 years since I last fell off, and she managed to make me hit the ground twice in one day! I must have been getting a bit big for my britches. Nothing deflates an ego like a hard impact with the ground.

Anybody interested in starting a thread on the best ever BB names? I personally like perpetual novice, 2old2nobtr, and Need4Speed. There are some others that I can’t think of right now.

matryoshka, I was bucked off my gelding grandson of Buckpasser and Mill Reef - but I have to say, stay’in on the top side is much better !

I’ve never ridden the Rodeo - only Dressage/HUS, but given my dramatic Launch, I figured I’ve earned the handle . Today, we have a couple of fancy-schmancy WBs at the barn who are size WoW - so I also refer to my appendix as CowPony Race horse wannabe. Makes me feel better to think he’s just a tiny little quarter horse of 16.2 - perrrfect for a RodeoQueen, no? Still, I need a little bling…

mba=my degree

miss='cuz I’m not a “mrs.”

az='cuz I lived in AZ when I came across COTH…now in VA but too lazy to change it

RodeoQueen, my mare is only 15.3hh (big bodied), and I recently had somebody tell me she is tiny. I have to laugh, because it didn’t feel like she was all that tiny while I was hurtling toward the ground. Then again, if she were 16.3 instead of 15.3 I might have had just enough air time to get my feet under me. But when she backed up and fell with me shortly after that (we were NOT having a good day), I was glad she was only 15.3hh.

Join the endurance crowd and you can have as much bling as you want. I figure, the more visible I am, the more likely I’ll be found if I get dumped while riding in the middle of nowhere. I got an endurance bridle (sidepull), breastplate, and crupper in turquois. Nobody will miss us coming down the trail! All I need are bells, and I can have an audio bling to go with the visual bling.

And when somebody says a horse and rider look tacky, does that mean that they have too much tack?

matryoshka, 15.3 ain’t no small potatoes! And my trainer says the smaller they are - the easier it is to really pound you bum right into the dirt! However, am so glad I do not get dirty alone  .

Oh BTW, that higher-up-giv’in ya time to land on the feet-thing…soooo not true :). I now ride proudly bedecked in crashing vest and helmet. I am Nerd of the Barn. But, safety first now, right?

Endurance riding bling - hmmpf. Sounds wonderfully tacky. One day when Cowpony grows himself up, we’re gonna go from dressage test to Western Riding, because I have a closet ying for my own bling  .

I have Barb horses, and I’m female. Hence, BarbeyGirl.

You’re lucky I’m not ImaBarbeyGirl, because then the song would be in your head ALL DAY…

…oops…

…did I start that?..

:o

VTdobes, I have a dobe who is 4 or 5, but somehow his brain never matured past puppy. Do you want another? After he ate my entire stash of personalized M & Ms that were a wedding favor, I’m ready to give him away. Kind of kidding, kind of not really.

As for my bb name, I think it’s pretty obvious and shouldn’t need explaining.

I work in child protection. My first case was a 4 year old little girl and I was born in 1975.

Although I receive many compliments on my name, I actually stole it from another board cause I liked it too!

In reality, my parents never gave me a dime towards my horsie life. I work to feed my habit.

OOOOOOOOOHHHHH, you’ve started my day for me, making me feel special. I will nurture my specialness for the rest of the day.

I have to say, I love saying your name whenever I see it. I give it just the perfect accent… Matrrrreeeee-oooshka (BIG rolling of the rrrrrrrrrrs  ) LOVE IT!!!

Siseley

Well my horses AHA Registered name is “Prairie Creek Special Edition”, and she is so feminine in character, that I wanted a very feminine name for her. I saw a sign for an Italian Restaurant that was very high class, and it sounded so nice, that I took it for my girl. Not very original for a name, but remember I am a GUY!

Steve

Haha…

My horses reg’d name (well, moms horses name) is Skippers Eatmydust. So eatmydust is an idiot-proof name for me to remember

Its my kennel name that I show my dogs under…easy to remember…

Swale for the 1984 Derby winner and the first horse I truly loved. I grew up in South FL and watched him all winter before that year’s Derby (at Hialeah). I was reading Walter Farley and he was the Black Stallion to me. That year his trainer (Woody Stephens) had a much bigger 2YO-turning 3YO in his barn (Devil’s Bag) that everyone else was watching…I was this little kid who told the clockers on the rail that they were watching the wrong horse. After the FL Derby they were like “who IS this kid??”

And the “01” is because I have always been either “Swale” or “Swale01” with email or on other forums, often Swale is taken and I just automatically enter “Swale01” as I did when I signed up for this one. He’ll always be number one on my personal racing greats list. I have the Celeste Susany print of his Belmont win hanging over my fireplace.
