What's the story behind your bb name?

Just My Style is my retired hunter. I got him as a 5 year old and he turned 27 in June. He was like the Little Engine That Could. I was told he would be a good transition horse from ponies and he just kept giving more of himself until he did the 3’6 hunters and eq. He was champion in the A/O’s at his last show (in his late teens) and I decided to retire on a good note. Ever since, he has lived a happy life turned out with his paint pony and donkey.

My story… a ten year old pony clubbing daughter, a seven year old aspiring gymnast who is in the gym about 15 hours a week, a four year old son (need I say more), a ten acre farm-ette, four horses, my own riding schedule, oh yeah, and a ‘career military’ husband who has been in Iraq since last January. Thus, momx3notime.

My name is from the web comic ‘Penny Arcade’.

Gaze upon my insanity!

Yeah, I find that funny…

I don’t know what this says about me.

Sansena was a horse I fell in love with for all the wrong reasons. I use his SN as a tribute to him for not being smart enough to give him the future every horse deserves.

I was 13 yr.s old at the time when I met him, off the truck from Saratoga, Florida. I was in my third year of lessons at New Canaan Mounted Troop. He was wringing wet with sweat, nostrils flared, eyes bugged, and tail flagged high over his back.

After a 22 hr trip from Florida I shoulda had a clue

When I turned 20, my memory of him still held. He was ‘given’ to me for $500. Essentially, he had been untrained and remained the fire breathing dragon he was when I first met him. But I deserved what I got because it was an emotionally driven decision and I was in love with the romanticized view of owning him, not the reality.

He dragged me across Ox Ridge’d polo field by the stirrup. He was a nightmare to keep weight on. He NEVER took 6 consecutive steps in the same direction. He ran the fence line. Spooked at EVERYthing. He had a spontaneous spin/ bolt move that would unseat me 4 rides out of 7. He broke my leg.

My boss at the time took pity on me and sent him to Bettina Drummond for evaluation and training. Bettina’s sage advice: “He doesn’t care if he hurts himself, Kath. You can bet he’s not concerned with hurting YOU.”

I unloaded him, callous to what his future held because I was reminded “it’s just as expensive to keep a good one as it is a bad one”.

I use him as my screen name because somewhere, in teh back of my mind, I feel like I didn’t do this little fire breather justice. And I loved him. And I think that somehow, today, some way, I could have made it work between us.

When I first got my red roan she jumped out of the paddock and someone called the barn and said, “There’s a pink horse out on the road.” Also one of the trainers said, “She really is pink, isn’t she?” It just stuck.

It’s how I spell it on my license plate.

LulaBell- my mare’s name is Lola and I somehow got to calling her “LolaBell”

My mare Persephone is usually called Persey and when she’s being particularly lovely, PerseyBelle

edited to add: AWG is pretty much my online alter ego, tho an awful lot of IRL people seem to call me that, too. It’s meant to represent the fact that I’m all-weather sturdy (like good truck tires) and ready to have a go no matter what the temps or precipitation, and as a friend, I’m the opposite of fair-weather. It’s a name I chose to “live up to”.

my firstest (lol) pony when i was about 3 was named Lady of the Night. Great name for a kids pony So the parents (being intellectual and all) named her Noctis (of the Night in latin) and its been a nickname ever since!

Sancudo- What a barn worker nicknamed my leggy 17.2 horse, Riley. I think it means giant mosquito, you know, the scary ones with really long legs that don’t acutally bite? My trainer and I got a kick out of it, so that’s what we call him when he is being bad. Then my sister’s horse Bailey came, at 16.3, so he became Sancudo Dos. Sancudo Uno and Sancudo Dos are best friends. Now any time we see a long legged horse, we go “It’s a sancudo!” So Riley and I must have had a bad ride for me to first think of Sancudo as a handle instead of the usual LifeOfRiley17. The first part being obvious, the 17 is Jake Delhomme’s jersey number.

well…maureen was taken
so, I am a millwright by trade, not too many women millwrights, and I am a Mom, Hence millwrightmomma
Mother to 5 kids, 3 dogs and varing numbers of horses, because we rescue horses here in Ontario, Canada

Two years ago, my trainer at the time came back from a clinic and said she’d found my next horse. I’d always wanted a paint, I like mares, and I needed a good brain. My next horse (which I did end up getting) was Dutch x American Paint bay mare with a great mind. I spent a few months envisioning this nice loud paint x warmblood. I see her for the first time and that’s what I thought… Where’s her white??? Bay, with anklets on the front, just over the fetlock white in the back and wide white blaze on her face (sliding to the right just to her right eye, she had a few white eyelashes on her right eye only ). Not another spec of white to be seen

We’re still getting used to each other (she is still pretty green) but she had a wonderful mind and I love her even though she isn’t the loud paint I’d wished for

well maxx is my prelim eventer, and first event horse i bought and no one can sit his trot… maxxtrot!

Ohh! I want a Luna! Pretty!

Rock of Ages - that pony is adorable! He actually looks a bit like a small pony at my barn named sweetpea who is equally adorable.

gf= grey filly. When I signed up in 2002 my mare was 4 and very much the filly. Now she is seven so perhaps I should change my username to gm -maybe everyone would take me more seriously Here is the girl in all her fatness this summer

Nothing horsey… I’ve owned several trucks (semis) and been owned by several Dobermans.

My mom was Sofadobe and, prior to her death, she was the internet/bb fanatic. When she died suddenly I had know way of knowing all of her internet friends around the world, so I logged on from her computer to all of her favs to let people know. They sucked me in and got me hooked; she’d be thrilled.

It’s completely unoriginal…Chism is the name of the lesson horse I rode when I got back into riding after many years doing the getting married/having a family thing. He had a bad attitude and tortured people on a regular basis but I fell in love with him anyway. There’s just somthing about those bad boys…Of course I bought him and now he’s living in my back yard.

I believe he was named after the John Wayne character in the movie “Chism” because JW was a badass and so is he.

Not very original- it’s my horse’s name.

rock of ages - i couldn’t get your link to work!

well jeez…maybe if you stopped visiting all of those porn sites?

No-brainer. I share my life with a lot of greyhndz, er, greyhounds. I’ve been involved with rescue for many years.

Here’s the most recent addition to the family.

Blueboo is quite the stud muffin!

I still want to know if SandraD is a virgin. That could win her a Year End BB Award. I can see it now…a big bowl of cherries…
