This is the first time I have had to buy open front boots for my new horse & wondered what brand you guys like. I want all price ranges so just let me know. Thanks for sharing.
I like the T-Gel, but they’re not good in the rain. I also have leather lined Veredus ones which are good when it’s wet (have these because I have a horse who is allergic to neoprene).
My friend is obsessed with boots - a serious obsession. Good thing is, I get to use them all
I love the prestige open front, fleece lined. But,not practical for “dirty” use. I also like the T boots, but find sometimes the straps can leave indents intheirlegs (maybe they are just too small). Cant go wrong with the good old eskadrons…those are fast and easy and I usually end up schooling in those.
PM Lucassb, she has an addiction to open fronts, and always has a large selection to choose from, all beautifully cared for and in excellent condition. She may still have an ad on The OUtside Course.
I have always loved my Eskadrons - easy, classic, and totally washable. Currently the horse is going in his new Equifit T-boots, which I am totally infatuated with. Haven’t had any issues with them yet, although initially I bought the M/L for my TB and had to go up a size, even though the M/L should have fit based on their sizing chart.
I like my low profile Equifit T-boots with stud closures. I like the washable liner and that it form fits to my horse’s leg. I also sleep on a memory foam bed, so I understand the advantage. I like the low profile for less heat. I only ride in misty rain and haven’t had a problem with water retention, no puddles. Easy to clean, straps stay white.
I really like my beval open fronts. They fit nicely and are very durable.
What about leather fleece lined? Is the fleece hard to clean?
I love my Equifit boots. They’re very durable and the liners are removable, so they’re also very easy to clean.
I have to give the T-boots another vote
I like the Roma Gel open fronts. Though inexpensive, they are very comfortable for my horse and easy in every way.
Equusport
I personally hate the look of the fleece boots but thats just me. I will give yet another vote for the equifit Tboots, I LOVE LOVE LOVE mine. As far as everyday schooloing you cant go wrong with these. Cheep and really nice.
I have a fussy mare, and her vote is for the inexpensive Roma with fleece lining, and the hind booties too. The hind booties were the only ones she hasn’t kicked down the aisle.
They are durable, and easy to clean. I chuck them in the washer and they come out great.
Anybody have experience/thoughts with the Veredus boots? They seem to have made a mark at the shows… I feel like every new picture has someone wearing 'em.
I love leather boots if the fleece is minimal and just barely shows, don’t like those ones that have an excessive amount of fleece. They do take a bit more maintenance though. They make great boots for showing in the eq, very classic, just let the dirt dry first and then brush off with a stiff brush, you will be surprised how clean they can stay if they are not worn in the mud. And wipe the leather with a damp sponge after each use, and occasionally give a more thorough cleaning. I especially love Beval’s baghide leather boots, they are stunning, not sure if they are still available though. And with fleece you don’t have to worry about the heat buildup and possible reaction that some horses have to neoprene. Of course, there are other options besides neoprene too.
My horse and I love the Romas, too. Very affordable, I think I paid $50 for a full set, they’ve held up well and as easily washable and come out looking like new every time. They also look great.
For cheapies check out roma. I have a few pairs as well as my trainer and they last forever. I like them as much as my eskadrons. I also have a pair of roma tboot knockoffs and they are super nice for a cheap price.
I have the equifits and love them as well. Easy to care for and almost always look nice.
I sold all of my fleece and leather lined boots as they are just a pain to care for. I really hated seeing them go but I’m over not being able to use them much anymore as I event.
I have the Veredus Carbon gel open fronts, and I love them! I really wanted something that was going to protect my mare’s tendon from strikes, because she’s shod with borium behind. They do a lovely job. They are easy to clean (I hose mine), the neoprene is soft, and they are very light (also a plus for me). I bought the ones with the tab closures and they don’t hold footing (when you take the boot off, no footing drops out). I am going to buy the Veredus Carbon gel hind boots this season.
A tip: Amira Equi has Veredus boots for far less than anywhere in the US.
T boots! I have the Luxe which I love and the low profile. Love love love them!
