Yup. I figured it out. Also guessed you must be new to the board, because most other people know I work for Horse Country. I don’t try to hide it. But since you purposefully didn’t state the name of the store you had ordered from, I saw no reason to. Though I did wonder what other store could make someone wait 11 months.
I’d’ve emailed you, but you don’t have an addy posted. Feel free to contact me at mine.
I meant what I said, I am sorry you had poor service. It’s not something we set out to do, mind you, but occasionally it does happen.
I am sorry you feel we’re over-priced. I think it’s a matter of perception. I know when I began working there, I thought everything was SO expensive. And then I saw the number of people who dropped more than my monthly mortgage in a single shopping trip and didn’t bat an eyelash. Then did it AGAIN the next month! I came to realize that what was expensive to ME was not necessarily expensive to many, many other people. Especially foxhunters. So perhaps your ‘over-priced’ is a ‘steal!’ to someone who’s been looking all over for an item we carry that they haven’t been able to find.
When I sense, or am told, ‘we’re on a budget’ I do my best to find the customer a lesser priced quality item (we do not and will not carry ‘bargain leather’ or cheaply made goods. It is a personal affront to the owner.) This means I will also help them feel good about choosing the lesser priced item. After all, if we carry it, it’s worth having. I routinely give out the numbers of several other local shops specializing in the lower end product lines in the name of customer service. After all, everyone’s on a budget these days, it’s just that due to the economy many of our budgets are smaller than they were last year! I know mine is!
And here’s a tip for you. You know the store you found your coat at? I wouldn’t be so sure that they’ll have what you need this year. Buy early and buy often. They need your support.
And another tip. You know how dear you thought our sandwich cases and flasks were last year? Hang on to your hat. The price of English leather has soared due to Foot & Mouth (scarcity of excellent quality hides) and personally I’d keep the smelling salts handy when reading this year’s catalog. Of course, that’s just my perception. Someone else might say it’s about time they’re charging what these things are actually worth!
Suffice to say that anyone who got one last year should be very, very thankful they did, and not lend it out to anyone. Or if you do, get a CC# in advance in case they lose it.
