Where to find higher level, quality dressage horse

I have searched the (same) posts and that helped me draw my conclusions. I hope it’s not Nick though, at any rate this is good info for anyone searching for a horse.

I’d still think that post I highlighted was ridiculous and combative and making @$% up. We should try to have some level of decency and adherence to facts even if he doesn’t.

I don’t think Nick P has a long game where he’d be the OP. It was mid-2013 when he started his garbage up online, and so I can’t imagine he’s been fostering this alias and developing a fake profile. He’s not the type.

Always remember ones’ posts are all we have to go on, but aren’t always necessarily truthful.

Like Senden, I had a nagging issue with the word choices the OP uses, the vague-ness, and then there’s the thread on Helgstrand where they appear to be vying to ID a need for a buyers website, kinda’ like NPs adoption of the niche role of free internet trainer via DH, while bemoaning the difficulty in searching for what many suggest really, truly should not be THAT hard to find if you are what you say…s/he DOES read very much like NP.
That could be coincidence, but I am a glass half empty girl…

@SendenHorse
thanks for mentioning the similarities you noted, I thought I was losing my mind.

You don’t have to believe me, but I just thought I’d bring up what I and others are suggesting. If Nick does have other alias, well, I am glad to be made aware.

I never said I was 100% right, but nor am I the only one to think this.

Take your anger to the OP who started this, I’m just the messenger!

Arguing whether this could be NP or not isn’t adding anything useful to the discussion (which has been perfectly civil). Thank you to those who have added useful information for the OP, whoever they are. While I can’t afford the kind of horse being sought, I am enjoying the recommendations so I can admire fancy horses from a far.

Choose one reputable seller you like (Marcus Fyffe Dressage, for example, since they mentioned liking David and Nicholas), give them your budget and criteria and I bet within a week they’d have a list of quality prospects lined up for you and your trainer to consider.

This whole thread is weird. If the OP is working with a trainer, then the trainer should bloody well know where to find “higher level” expensive horses. They are practically falling out of the sky on the internet. I’m sure at least one or two of them is “well-trained.” Give me a break.

I’ve got a friend looking with a budget of 125K wants a high level horse, everything she finds that she likes and can come close to riding is 175K or above. Everything trainer shows her in her budget isn’t “fancy” enough. It happens.

Your friend needs to look in Canada!

Guacamole (the Lusitano) is being offered for $110,000. You can attend the IALHA and ERAHC shows and find horses as good (or better) being offered for sale for 1/4 to 1/2 the price of this horse.

Shop in Wellington…pay Wellington prices.

I looked at their website and have seen the Luisitano but I prefer WB type horses. Actually, 6 years ago when I was looking for my other horse, I visited with them in Canada. Didn’t end up buying from them but they were great people!

Thanks!

I’d love to know where to find a 7-year-old sound, sane, safe and cute looking horse of any breed with solid pro training, good scores at Third and a good piaffe and passage already established for $25k. Are there videos from these shows? And do we have them in Canada or just the US?

Thanks! I have seen him but prefer WB type horses. I am aware of Wellington pricing and would like to not be drawn into it if I can avoid it.

Well, I am glad you like most of what is being offered for sale. Please allow me to have my own tastes and standards. I was asking for suggestions as to what places I should check and have the time and desire to do the research along with my trainer. You don’t have to read this discussion if it offends you this much.

Worth checking with them in FL as many of the horses they sell never make it to the website and the majority of their sales are WBs. Plus they have great connections and would know who else else has prospects that fit your criteria and budget. The same could be said for most of the better-known trainers in Welly World, and many of the lesser-known ones too. Word of mouth is the nest way to find the horse you want and all that requires is making contact with the right people. If your trainer doesn’t have the personal connections to do that you may want to consider making some
calls yourself.

For what it’s worth it - I am not NP and am serious about my search. I am amazed as to why people who have nothing to contribute to the question feel the need to become negative… SMH!

I am not NP and if my writing style does not agree with you, I can explain that English is not my native language.

My advice would be to tell nobody that her budget is 125k… Horses tend to be always a little about the budget if you are open about it…
