Where to find lop ears?

OK, I admit it, I’m a sucker for lop ears…are there any stallions that throw lop ears more frequently? I’m hunting for a jumper, and would love to find one with some floppy ears, but I’m not entirely sure how to search for that on dreamhorse…

Apiro has not qute lop ears, but they are adorable!! My three year old filly has them too and I love them

I have one filyl that I swear has lop ears at least 50% of the time. I don’t understand it…it’s usually most noticeable when she is having her picture taken! LOL!

My guy has the most adorable lop ears but we have no idea who he is so that is not very helpful. The more he concentrates, the more they flop. A good dressage test has him looking like a bobble head from the ears up!

Oh, you make me think of Cat Burglar the 17’3" hand imported Hanoverian that took my then 5’1" Japanese-legged daughter to all the Big Eq Finals at age 14, including the USET East Coast Talent Search Finals at Gladstone. He flopped his lop ears rythmically and I am sure convinced the judges of my daughter’s quiet ride. Just as ignorant as the show crowd today of the breeding of the horses that did so much for us at that time, I seem to recall that he was sired by a stallion whose name began with “A”.

I saw an eventing prospect that had lop ears, but he was bred in Australia, so I’m thinking I won’t find many of those around here!

I saw one mare in Georgia that had floppy ears, but sadly, she wasn’t for sale. I would so love to find a jumper that had those lop ears - I just need to figure out the right terms to search for…thanks!

Thanks for the bunny link, I’m not sure they can go in the 3’6" jumpers, but they sure are cute!

Not jumper lines, but we leased a Feiner Stern/Weltmeyer mare that had flop ears (her owner dubbed her “Roo” because of the ears). She passed them onto both her 2011 Furst Impression colt and her 2012 Sir Gregory filly. Love them

I have a fabulous TB broodmare that has almost lop ears. I confess her ears and head (which is stunning with a huge soft eye) made me buy her.

Me too. Retired TB broodmare by Rollicking. It even say “lop-earred” on her JC papers. Though she didn’t pass them on to any of her foals.

Bo Mearns is a jump rider from Victoria and many years ago she had a jumper with lop ears - she was called The Flying Nun because of them - and was very well known. Quite lovable, but I never heard of them being passed down the line.

I have to admit watching Apiro’s u/s video made me “get off the fence” in my stallion choice for one of my mares. No luck, the filly has perfectly adorable but normal ears!

However, my Linaro colt had huge lop ears! At 18 months old they are still big, but no longer floppy:(

My mare has floppy ears, and her two foals currently going under saddle seem to have them too! I am pretty sure her 2011 filly will “keep” hers Her 2010 filly didn’t “get” them. I actually quite like them, makes me think of a little kid sticking their tounge out when concentrating.
