Who has bought Totilas?

Ha. Didn’t the owners say last time these rumors started that for 10 million they would throw in the trailer (but also said he hadn’t sold)? The horse is NOT worth 36 million dollars but regardless when and if he does sell I’m sure there will be lots of official announcements instead of rumors from the WEG.

I’m super glad this is rumor. I would hate to see this horse wasted like Lingh.

OK, it quite possibly is a rumor, but there’s no smoke without fire. Here’s how the blip came out in the press. Edward was seen hugging a woman (sorry don’t know who as that is not my world), and the commentator said something to the effect of these being very emotional games for EG as Totilas has been sold and will be staying in the States after the WEG. That was the sum total of the rumor.

Now if this was indeed your last games on the World Superstar, would you like to answer questions all week long on the sale of Totilas or would you rather concentrate on riding said horse for what could be your last week of competition.

So yeah, very well could be rumors, but just sayin, quashing these rumors at this stage will mean you don’t have to answer questions you really don’t want to at this stage.

36milliondollars-wow-who is got that cash-:confused:maybe i read it wrong-do horse people have that much money in the horse business-where do i sign up.

Sadly, my deal to purchase Totilas as my schoolmaster has fallen through!

For some reason, the owners refused to take my cashiers check for $37 million, and then pay $1 million to my shipper…where’s the trust??

Evenstar, how rude. I will act as your agent and seal the deal. You can send me your cashier’s check for my fee of $1 mil and I will take care of everything for you.

The rumors started when the actress Sissy Spacek told that she wanted to buy the horse for Steffen Peters. The media replaced the word wanted for the word did.

Hey 36 mill is what the University of KY paid for the basketball coach. I’d rather have Toto.

Apparently not. The horse is sold; go over to the dressage board for the press link. About $21 million !

Interesting. It had crossed my mind that the rumor might have been a premature leak. In other words, they were being totally honest when they denied that Totilas had been sold. They didn’t deny that there was an ongoing negotiation for sale or even a contract for sale…

According to Horse & Hound, he’s sold.

“The best dressage horse of all time, Moorlands Totilas, has been sold to German former showjumper turned top European breeder Paul Schockemohle.”
Every horse is for sale for the right price. Someone offered the right amount for Toto, but I highly doubt that Edward made the choice to sell.
I don’t agree, I would never have sold my first and best horse for a million gazillion billion dollars. Some things truly are priceless. I bought him for $6000 off the track, at one point he was probably worth a quarter million (was doing A/O jumpers handily with me, I am a genuine amateur), but still would not have sold him. Could not afford to ever buy another horse as good as him, was most incredibly fortunate to have lucked into him, when I knew nothing, bought him because he was shiny!

I love my horses too, but for $21 M I’d part with either one. Could buy a whole lot more to love and the palace to keep them in…

really?, I question thisThe best dressage horse of all time

The best dressage horse of all time:o

I posted that over two weeks ago, that she had posted it was BS.

IMO, it is accurate to say ‘the highest scoring dressage horse of all time.’ But then my tastes in dressage do not necessarily match what scores high in competitive dressage these days…

I have other horses I would sell. I sold a pony that I bought for my daughter who dumped her one time too many for $1 (I paid $5000 for him). I have a lovely TB mare that I would sell, because she probably isn’t the right horse for me. But my first horse, that I dreamed about since I was 6, no way, no how, for any kind of money!

I wouldn’t be surprised if he was sold. He is a young breeding stallion as well as a top international GP horse. Most of these horses are for sale at the right price, and many uber-wealthy people in the US have the money.

I don’t agree that Edward Gal is the only person who can partner with this horse. Edward is a fantastic rider. But Totilas is an agreeable horse who would do well under many talented riders. I would be interested to see his extended gaits under another rider.

Not quite $21M if you believe what you read - ironic I know as the press was used to deny the “rumour”.

Lexington Herald-Leader Oct 19, 2010 “Equine star of Games sold to German breeder; Sale of ‘Toto’ means medalist gal needs a new ride”

But now the partners are splitting. The owners of Toto, as he is known, have announced his sale to a German stud farm for as much as $15 million.

Although rumors about a sale swirled during the Games, Tosca Visser and Kees Visser, the owners of Toto through Moorland Investments, confirmed recently that the Dutch Warmblood would go to German breeder Paul Schocke möhle, the owner of Performance Sales International.

Toto will continue his breeding and competition career, and could give a boost to the German dressage team at the 2012 Olympics in London.

This assumes that the $15M cited is actually US dollars and not 15million Euro or 15million GBP.
