Who here owns a Hanoverian???

Because its nice to see by thread about the horses. If you dont like it, dont read it… move on!

My much loved, quirky, brave, bold Apollo. Feiner Graf x Lungau.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m finding these pictures are a big tease! Like a few others here, I breed Hanoverians. I love to see the diferent lines and, especially, how the horses MOVE.

Can anyone post links to video? Pretty please???

My mare Georgiana : Graf Top II x Guter Fang (Grandferdinand)
She is almost all jumping bred, but Graf Top II is siring lovely movers with very good minds.

Here she is only a couple months under saddle in her very first show as a 4 year old, with a trainer on her back since I did not ride dressage at the time

Her as a just turned 6 year old in my VERY FIRST dressage lesson in a jumping saddle, please excuse the fact that she is totally confused by the short reins, and very unhappy with my attempt to ride on contact. BTW, the trainer had me holding on to the fuzzy pad, hence the hands being worse than normal.

I hope to get some better video soon now that I can finally almost get her on the bit, which has given her so much more rhythm and suspension.

I have five (which is too many when you work full-time, hence three are for sale):

  • My GP mare helped me get my Gold Medal this year. She’s by Spitzweg/Welsh City. I thought about selling her, but now…I think she’d be too hard to part with because she’s done so much for me – and there’s “more” to come…see last bullet.
  • A 2000 mare (Bergamon/Davignon-Donnerhall). She’s in FL with Alex Gerding to be sold. A not-so-great video taken a few weeks ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgFVfT_pjSE
  • A 2004 mare by Widmark out of the above mare. She’s just been started back under saddle after having the baby below.
  • A 2008 filly by Rotspon out of the above Widmark mare. (Called back as one of the top three fillies at the inspection this summer.)
  • A 2006 gelding (Royal Prince/Lively-Letkiss), just started groundwork and have been led around on him.
  • And three Diamond Hits out of my GP mare due next spring, thanks to ET!

I enjoy all of them, but while some people seem to collect baseball cards, because I enjoy breeding a bit, I seem to start “collecting” horses andd then need to sell them!! For pics, it’s easier to check my website than to post individual photos (www.bytouchstonefarm.com).

Interesting thread! Fun to see the different bloodlines and how proud everyone is of their partner(s).

All lovely Touchtone!!

Who owns a Hanoverian

I own three; a seven year old Rotspon/Matcho mare, a three year old Hochadel/Lauries Crusader mare and a seven month old Hot Line/Rotspon gelding. We enjoy them very much!!

Thanks, STF. I remember your stallion, PAZ, when he went through the stallion test at Paxton Farm. (You didn’t own him then, if I remember correctly.) What I DO remember is what a lovely, powerful horse he was. I liked him a lot! I hope you are enjoying him!

Thank you! No, I did not own him then. And yes I agree about the power. I have ridden HUNDREDS of horses over the years and this horse is power beyond anything I have ever ridden.
I love him!

Drool! So many nice Hanos:D

We are fairly new to the breed and I actually ride a Friesian as ours are broodies or youngsters. I do have a coming three year old Don Frederico x Longchamp x Arkansas that I am going to start next year. Here is a video of her from this summer, as a two year old:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNskgOI3A3A&feature=channel

We have three more coming this year, one from Sir Donnerhall x Rosentau and two Quaterbacks, one from a Longchamp and one from a Waldkoenig dam. I am already counting down the days.

Lovely filly, Donella – and particularly interesting for me because Don Fred is at the top of my list for my B-line mare. Thanks, too, to Perfect Pony and Touchstone Farms. Keep the videos coming!

Donella, I LOVE that DF mare of yours! How tall do you think she will mature to? How is her mental attitude?

I’m loving the Hanoverians! I am blessed to have a very lovely yearling filly, Sir Donnerhall x Contendro x Eiger. Even as a yearling in her fugly stage, she has remarkable presence and beauty. And her temperament and attitude are fantastic, she is easy to work with, willing to please and very trusting. I can’t say enough about her, and continue to be impressed by her as the days pass. Here is a very short video clip taken recently, not the best quality, but you can catch some glimpses of what she’s all about. (sorry for the dialogue in the background!)

Is a delaurentis X rubenstein cross, already about 16.2 hands!

 Lovely!

I agree, that is a super cross!

Me too! I have a 2001 gelding by De Niro x Longchamp (Lauries Crusador xx). Amazing temperament. Also have a 1990 gelding doing GP, with breeding that I think is rather obscure: Erbherzog x Windhuk. Definitely on the lazy side, HUGE, but nice movement and a good temperament as well!

16yo Hano, by breeding you guys wouldn’t know! Grand Prix…[/QUOTE]

???
Why should we not know ? Please add it.

Here is my boy Ernst August by Escudo I out of a mare by Augustinus xx and herself out of a dam by Steppenwolf.

I spent every penny I had and then some on him. After looking for over a year and not finding what I wanted my mom suggested we just go see what the next price bracket would get us. We went to window shop and viola- came home with a horse. (and a plan for how to convince dad to help )

Here he is at 6yrs old.
http://bp0.blogger.com/_zTe7JGS3eRE/RwHrRKb9MjI/AAAAAAAAAHc/38JGSuifOhQ/s1600-h/Ernie_AHShighscore.jpg

He was exactly what I wanted the moment I set eyes on him. He’s a little straight in the hind end so doesn’t quite come under as well as one would prefer. He’s a sensitive guy very quirky, a bit spooky, super smart (knows some tricks) and very bonded to me which I love.

Turned out somehow someway he got a severe SI injury by falling over backward. I never saw anything like that happen or evidence thereof. He was NQR pretty much from the day after I bought him in spite of a thorough vet check. Most likely no one knew and wouldn’t have known until pushing pushing things in training that physically something was wrong. We found it and fixed it along with the psychological component which was a LONG hard road because he is so sensitive.

So, it took us 6yrs to show 3rd level which we did in Nov. He’s got his 4’s, half-pirouettes and is ready to start showing 4th. I can see the light further down the tunnel that is PSG as we can ride through much of the test now with our trainer and it goes well, so I think we can meet my goal of buying a horse that I could take to FEI.

Here we are in Nov. at our 3rd level debut.

Can you look up the breeder ? Are they named Crome-Sperling ?

I have 4 (next year 6).

A 6yo Don Frederico - Prnce Thatch mare. Had alredy a baby, is a states premium mare and is now competing level 1 dressage (well schooling level 2 and will go 2 next year), about 1,10m in jumping classes and three day event classes (level where dressage is level 1).

A 3yo halfsister Florencio - Prince Thatch. Also received Statespremum candidate title is started and will copete level 1 next year. Jumps at home, but we are not sure about shows.

A 16 yo mare who competed sucessfully upto level 3. retired as broodmare. She has a rather uncommon breeding: Chromatic xx - Grundsee (by Grundstein I)
pregnant by For Compliment

A 5yo mare by Sandro Hit - Rouletto. Geourgeous mare can move and jump incredibly. She is the best of the gang quality wise. Pregnant by Farewell III. She will be for sale to a good home eventually, because I can not kee them all.

All can be seen on my homepage (english is not that updated but for newer pictures you can try to go through German part after the english).
