Who's your fancy moving OTTB by?

I have an old (25) TB who is a grandson of Bold Bidder.

He also has the Pharos look–they could be twins. I’m thinking that look may come from Bold Ruler, since Elberton Hawk has a sex balanced, top and bottom cross to him.

I’m really loving seeing these pedigrees guys, this is great.

I see a lot of Turn-to, Tom Rolfe, Bold Ruler & Northern Dancer. I’m not surprised by the Bold Ruler & Northern Dancer, but the prevalence of the Turn-to and Tom Rolfe surprises me a little.

Keep 'em coming, I’m really fascinated!

I had a beautiful mover by Titanic. I wouldn’t say he was a 10 (as I believe a 10 to be the absolute best mover you can find), but he was def. a 9+ and could win hacks in most any company. He jumped beautifully too!

i had a fabo mare who in her hayday was a gorgeous mover. she had lots of issues by the time we lost her due to past injuries that did not allow her to move so nicely, but on nice days when she got a wind up her butt she would strut her stuff! she was all old TB blood by Duc de Great.

my Tb now is by Tomorrow’s Cat and out of risen angel. he has got some fancy moves as well; I wouldn’t say 10, but enough to get noticed for sure.

Seems like Mr. Prospector seems to come up a lot in this thread. My 3yr. old (& will be 4yr. old) OTTB has Mr. Prospector on the Dams side and on the Sires side (who is Freud) is Secretariat and Northern Dancer. She last races the end of April 08’. She had a few injuries due to turn out that had her laid her up off and on for 3 to 4 months, but she remembers everything I’ve taught her. Very receptive to my leg and hands. Loves to work and has the best attitude.

My goal is to ride her in the Hunter Ring, but she is just as quiet out on the trails. She has a very maturity for a 3yr. old that I’ve never come across in any of my other OTTB I’ve had in the past.

adorable!!

I just remembered, my other TB, who is now living the easy life, has adorable hunter movement, flipped his toes and everything, and a really nice jump too. And a bit of a stocky build. Always got a piece of the hack too. Unfortunately I think what may have been his prior track injuries, coupled with a bad bout of Lyme, were just too much for him to stay sound, but he always tried so hard.

I had heard the Stormcat offspring are difficult, but he was a grandson, and a real sweetie too. Sooo cute.

My current OTTB is by Norquestor (by Conquistador Cielo). On his dam’s side he’s got Native Dancer and Tom Fool. He’s very athletic and a pretty good mover (though not perhaps a 10 unless he’s showing off). He can have an attitude, though, when he wants to.

I’m looking at another OTTB who is a very nice mover. She’s by Eastover Court. On her dam’s side she’s got Buckpasser, Halo (Turn-To line), and Hoist the Flag. She also seems to have a great temperment.

My best movers are out of Private Account mares.
2 that are 10+'s were by Conquestador Cielo.
My all time personal best horse was by Dixie Union and the fabulous 12 mover I just sold was by Not For Love and he was a WOW on anyones scale:yes:

that is the general thinking I have found. I think a good number of times it is true. My boy’s grandsire is Storm Cat and you can CERTAINLY see that Storm Cat attitude in him at times. I was told that his sire was complicated as well, so I am thinking he gets it from his daddy’s side. He can get rowdy and become a handful. On the other hand I have also seen some SC babies that couldn’t care any less! so it certainly works both ways with that blood line as it does any other.

On the plus side, every SC offspring/grand-offspring I have seen has become or was becoming a fabulous mount. They mature late both mentally and physically, but they are quick learners and will give you 110% everytime. I have found the majority to be “one person” kind of personalities where they really strive on affection from an individual and once that bond is created, they tend to really stick to it; giving their all each time. if you can handle it, it really is not that big of a deal IMO. My boy’s good moments make putting up with his crap WELL worth it:D

My new guy is by Irish Tower, out of a Deputy Minister mare. He ran till he was 14, and has now started eventing, but he can MOVE! He is super fancy on the flat, and will be even nicer when he actually knows what he’s doing.

My retired advanced event horse, who was a very good mover is by Vanlandingham, and out of an Our Native mare.

I also had a very nice littly OTTB that ran BN and was sold. He was a super mover. He is by Arch, out of a Summer Squall Mare

Wills Way.

Anyone have any info or photos of my babies daddy?[/QUOTE]

Wills Way is a very handsome horse. I can’t yet find the picture I’m looking for but here’s an article about his retirement:

mine is by Gulch and out of a Storm Bird mare.

A friend of mine used to have a TB stallion who was a great hunter mover who was by Conquestador Cielo

I have an Appalachee gelding that is moves great he is lopey, huge and very appealing.
He did not take after his dad, who was champion 2 yr old in England and a Chef de Race sire; not many horses are considered to be at this level.

I won’t say my TB is ultra fancy or anything (even though I love him), he has a great canter and nice trot. He’s by Rocky Mountain and his grandsire is Alydar.

Here’s his pedigree:

I have just started showing him at the local shows & he has won 4 of 6 hacks. So maybe some others like him too.

Maybe it’s the “Storm Bird mare” part! One of mine is too!

Lola certainly has a fancy trot…but she just turned 4 so we’ll see what we have when we finish growing!

shes by E Dubai and out of Plate Boundary

Mr Prospector on Sire side and Native Dancer on both sides.

I just realized she has Native Dancer on both and Raise a Native on both…does that make her inbred?

I see that both Tom Rolfe and Tom Fool show up in here as well! I haven’t had a chance to really critique my guy yet, so stayed tuned!

Gorgeous movement; lovely, scopey jump; and a kind, mellow mind.
