Who's your fancy moving OTTB by?
My current very nice, lovely moving ottb is by Our Emblem … http://www.pedigreequery.com/gallaslad

and i previously owned another great mover by Crafty Friend … http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/margaud

and another very nice mover by Tomorrow’s Cat … http://www.pedigreequery.com/coalition+lad
These 3 are interesting to me because all 3 have “OK” sirelines but fabulous damlines…

Seems like Mr. Prospector seems to come up a lot in this thread. My 3yr. old (& will be 4yr. old) OTTB has Mr. Prospector on the Dams side and on the Sires side (who is Freud) is Secretariat and Northern Dancer. She last races the end of April 08’. She had a few injuries due to turn out that had her laid her up off and on for 3 to 4 months, but she remembers everything I’ve taught her. Very receptive to my leg and hands. Loves to work and has the best attitude.

My goal is to ride her in the Hunter Ring, but she is just as quiet out on the trails. She has a very maturity for a 3yr. old that I’ve never come across in any of my other OTTB I’ve had in the past.

Not to discount the actual abilities of Mr. Prospectors because the Raise A Native (and most especially the Alydars) do have the jump, but SOME of it has to do with the fact he was a HEAVILY used sire in his day. There are SO many offspring and grandkids that they are everywhere by sheer volume. Not unlike Northern Dancer and Bold Ruler: you can’t get away from them because there are simply so many of them out there.

My best movers are out of Private Account mares.
2 that are 10+'s were by Conquestador Cielo.
My all time personal best horse was by Dixie Union and the fabulous 12 mover I just sold was by Not For Love and he was a WOW on anyones scale:yes:
Not For Love has produced a number of WOW looking horses I have seen. At a 25K stud fee his kids don’t often up as sporthorses though. I don’t need a new broodmare until 2010 whn my colt is old enough to breed…but Not For Love is on my short list for looking for a mare sire/cruising the OTT sites looking for a deal…

This guy is an incredible mover - even at an advanced age, he is jaw-dropping  His trot and canter would be hard to beat. I stumbled upon him by accident, and when I saw him trot and canter through his pasture…well, lets just say that I bred my mare to him a couple weeks later! I had the chance to ride a couple of his get, and they all had their sire’s amazing rythm

That is a really nice pedigree UP CLOSE! Those are names in the 1st and 2nd generation you don’t see until maybe 3rd/ usually 4 and 5 now…

Just realized that I didn’t post mine’s pedigree…

This guy is shaping up to be a really nice mover  He’s a little out of shape now and needs to learn to carry himself a little better, but he has a big powerful shoulder, enormous reach with his front legs and naturally engages behind…

This one is a really cool mover too… maybe a little too much knee for hunters, but he’s really neat to watch

“Ike” can be a fancy mover when he relaxes:D He’s incredibly balanced on both leads and I’ve been told that I could go to Lamplight and win ribbons. He’s got a smooth and easy jump to ride and a willing attitude that I love (gotta love TBs). My trainer said he’s got good lines on his dam’s side.

I dont think hes off the track, but Sneak Preview (or maybe Sneak Per View) is an amazing mover, and pretty much all of the foals I have seen by him are above 8 movers.

Above is the information re my 6yr old Gelding that I have been working with a little over a year. Bertrando is the leading CA Sire and I have read some positive things about his off spring that don’t cut it at the track.

Now that my guy is finally learning how to use his back, his gates are lovely and I can’t wait for the show season. 2nd show ever last year he won the hack!

The closest to a 10 mover I ever had was by a son of Mr Prospector out of a Spectacular Bid daughter. Unfortunately he was a jerk I never could ride and the Pro had to work pretty hard at.

Mare now is about an 8 mover (fading a little with age) and has alot of Bold Ruler fairly close (as do many, he was quite prolific). But, interestingly, has Mahmoud close on the top thru The Axe (grandsire) and looking at alot of these pedigrees, there he is too.

Not a huge fan of ancestors far back but, can’t be an accident. I have been able to find some other Hunters by her sire April Axe (by Axe) and they share the same good movement and nice jump. I am getting to where, if I was looking to breed anything, I might want to see old Mahmoud on there, particularly on top somewhere-and he is there on that Bertrando pedigree as well as alot of others cited on here.

Dime, 1982, has a too-die-for walk and canter. His trot is very decent. His gallop is breathtaking. He is beautifully balanced and correct, even at his ripe old age! I think he takes after Round Table in type, from what I can tell from pics and descriptions.

There’s Mahmoud, on top. He was not that prolific either compared to what modern studs put on the ground.

And the one thing all three of those horses had in common was not only that they were used a lot as sires, but they were “sire of sires”.

Stage Door Johnny and Secretariat were used heavily in their day as well but their niche is as a broodmare sire, so you tend to not see it dominate so heavily, although it is every bit - if not more - valued.

This guy is looking like a very nice mover, I think his trot is good but so far he has a better canter. The trot is a very businesslike daisy cutter, but not so much reach that it wows you, just that you like it. The canter is take your breath away lovely, sweepy and very much looks like he is up in front of th eleg. The dam is though Cox’s Ridge X Graustark which is what really interested me about him, but he is a carbon copy of his sire Lido Palace (CHI) so who knows who the movement comes though.

Hey, DMK, don’t know if you recall but the “Pleasures” were quite common in the Hunter ring when I was a bit younger, most very nice movers. You got that Irish in there too with Turn To, more grass horse type and those do have a great canter, deceptivly ground covering.

Yes, if there was ever a line that screams classic hunter type, it is the What A Pleasure line. For Pleasure, Honest Pleasure, Foolish Pleasure and For the Moment were all classic hunter types, and obviously he was very prepotent since you saw the same look carry through several generations. Also, Texas Fuel was by For the Moment.

For the Moment owned the back cover of the Florida Horse for years and he was 100% droolworthy of that position.

I pretty much gave this guy a second look based on his dam’s line - very sport horse heavy, with that Hand in Glove type breeding and I have much love for Graustark, full brother to His Majesty, sire of Pleasant Colony. I considered the Mr. P about the weakest link in the pedigree, but the two lines of Mr. P I really like for sport horses are Fapp and Forty Niner (although I really prefer the Peace Rules line of Forty Niner), so that’ll do.

I have a Tomorrow’s Cat daughter that is a pretty decent mover (an 8+). However, she’s definitely got just a little of the Storm Cat attitude (gotta love those chestnut mares, you know!) and prefers being a jumper…she is INCREDIBLY athletic. I actually just posted on the Sport Horse Breeding Forum for some stallion recommendations for breeding her this year.

Here’s her pedigree: http://www.pedigreequery.com/richies+cat

Bo’s Typhoon (Storm Broker by Storm Cat out of Beaumaris Castle) is shaping up to have wonderful movement—long-strided floaty trot, smooth canter, and a great built-in jump. She’s so laidback, though, that it’s tough to get a good walk out of her because she prefers to “mosey” instead of “stride.”

I can “third” unclewiggly’s and camohn’s recommendations for horses by Not For Love.

I just got off the track a few weeks ago a beautiful grey gelding by Not For Love. Haven’t had a chance to get on him yet (shattered my ankle a week after I bought him), but he’s a gorgeous mover on the ground! Neat personality, too. . .

Midge was a fabulous mover with a ‘not much’ pedigree.

http://www.pedigreequery.com/sweet+lothario

Cody is a slightly better than average mover with a ROY grandsire.

http://www.pedigreequery.com/eightsecondcowboy

Midge, not sure Nashua by Nasrullah as a grandsire is “not much” on the first one along with Cannonade and Tom Fool…and Swaps-you got some Derby winners there. Got Mumtaz Mahal, who was Mahmouds second dam back aways.

And you got The Axe by Mahmoud way back with alot of Bold Ruler and Fappiano up close on that second horse.

I don’t think good movers are any kind of accident.
