Why do I browse Canter when I can't afford a horse?

I’d like this “pony” for Christmas, but it’s been an awful year. So I’ll just share the temptation with all of you.

wow at 2 yo this is a good looking fellow. Has all the right basics.

Give him a year with Doctor Green and happy walks in in the woods Let him grow in to himself he could make an eye-catching mount.

I still look and I have not ridden in at least 6 years. As a kid I use to “shop” from the catalogs to outfit my mythical horse and wonder at the cost of it all. Imagine almost $600. to get all the things you need for a horse ( ) I always look at the canter cuties and the dreamhorse " what do you think" posts and imagine how I would approach the horse in question.

Jenerationx,-If you don’t have a dream in the first place, you can’t possibly make your dreams come true.

Dream on!

I already have one (a good one!) and still “window wish.” I sent my trainer this one the other day with a joking “where are we going to park him?” I thought about posting his link here to tempt someone else

Love this guy.

@JBCool That’s a nice one too!

@Red Barn Yep, that’s the one that caught my eye.

Glad I’m not the only one window shopping without any intent to grab one. lol

“Lol” is a right! A two year old stallion??? No, I don’t really need one of those either.

But yeah - what a beauty!

It’s the big dark grays that always give me the gimmes. sigh

Sarah at Equine Racers in Los Alamitos has a terrific heart and an even better eye. Super honest and knowledgeable. My barn has 4 of them, one, like this guy, unraced and super gentle. All bought sight unseen via discussions with Sarah (who breezes at the track and knows all the trainers, and shenanigans). One, bought by a horse vet, is on Equine Racer’s FB page. Not that I’m enabling anyone.

Why? You are human. I do I too.

@Jenerationx ooph, that hits too close to home 😂

I swear those baby greys are more treacherous to me than puppy dog eyes.

I love a good grey. I"ve always wanted a dark grey baby and watch him go through the dark dapple stage and get lighter as the years go on.

It’s the ultimate vision board and there is no harm in looking! If you don’t think it in the first place, you can’t make it happen.

Now would be the right time in my riding career for me to get a young horse- my wonderful horse is semi-retired and is of an age to raise a youngster (I think there’s no better way to teach a young horse life skills hacking out and going places than to pair him with a cynical old horse)- but I definitely can’t afford it. That hasn’t stopped me from picking out three of Jessica Redman’s that can come home with me immediately.

He’s really, really pretty, but I have to say, while normally I say keep their racing names, for the first time not only would I change it at home I’d probably petition the JC for a legal change with new papers (as he’s unstarted it would probably go through.)

I’m NOT gonna browse because I already bought a pony. An actual pony. Who’s five months old. I won’t even get her home until the fencing’s up, and she won’t be ready to even start ground driving for a while after that.

But…there are some pretty ones…

I agree on the name, I’m assuming it came from the Autism awareness shirts, hats, mugs etc that said “Let your light shine.” That would have been a much better name.

oh my, it’s usually greys that give me the “stick a bow on him and put him in my barn” BUT on this occasion it’s JB’s choice that made me take a deep breath and go WOW…

Yeah he’s gorgeous. Seems like a good guy too. He’s also done growing and well put together. I have a thing for the war horses that make it through racing sound. They tend to hold up to anything an adult ammy can throw at them after that.
