Why So Many Malfunctions on COTH?

Oddly, only happens to me on mobile–not at all on desktop (knock on wood!) I do have adblocker on desktop (PC with chrome) but not on mobile (android with chrome.)

I’ve still not experienced any problems with Firefox and basic ad blocker. It is rather a mess if I use Chrome so I just don’t use it on the COTH website.

Samsung TabE Android Chrome. Page sometimes freezes on loading. Won’t scroll down/ finish loading page.
Sometimes the page button won’t work or the Next button doesn’t work either.
I can sometimes put the page number in up at the top and use the right arrow.
Not sure why it does this I think it may be an ad not loading but as I am on a tablet I can’t see what ad it might be.
I see previous posters have also had this trouble so it isn’t just one platform. It is a bit aggravating at times.
Thanks for looking into this,

That was a problem, has not repeated for days now, until this morning it did that once, only time, so maybe they caught it again and fixed it?

Will see if that repeats any time soon.

I have found that when/if a page has a brain f*rt during loading, I’ll just reload the page and all is good again.

Hasn’t happened to me recently but occasionally in the past it has.

Still having issues.
And I’m starting to wonder if they are not intentional. Hear me out.

I can’t like a post, or quote it or edit my own unless I refresh the page I’m trying to do that to.
That gives that post/thread another hit, correct?
So every time I refresh, or reload the page by removing the post # [as in when you enter the thread via ‘last post’ button]… it’s another view.

It is so maddening.
If I did my job as poorly as whomever COTH hired to redo the Forums… well I woulda’ been flippin burgers a LOOOOOONG time ago.

And it’s still cutting me off, midsentence of a post.

What’s the deal-io?
@Moderator 1

Except, it is not doing that to everyone?

I am not having any problems, hopefully they won’t start for me too now?

Can’t think why you are getting that cutting off stuff?
Definitely something going on there.

@Angela Freda Were you ever able to try clearing your cookies/cache to see if that affected the performance issues you’re experiencing?

And, no, we’re not intentionally freezing the site for users so they have to refresh and inflate our visitation numbers.

Yes I cleared cookies.
Each time I have an issue I log off and log back in HOPING that I’ve simply been logged in when the issues have been repaired and will come back in to a fully functioning COTH.
Alas.

Because EVERYONE has weighed in?

It’s not doing it to me either.

For me the malfunctions don’t happen all the time. Just some times. Some days I can’t Like a post. Some days I can’t go from one page to the next in a thread. Some days I can’t access the emojis.

Some days I can sign in with no problem. Other days I have to try again and again and again, either with that #*%)@ ad popping up to block and freeze the screen, or the site just won’t take my log-in.

I am running Chrome on a Chromebook. I have always used Chrome to access COTH, on any OS, except briefly on my Mac, where I had Safari. Never had any of these problems before COTH changed its website so it makes no sense for COTHers to “blame” each other’s devices or OS or browsers.

The old COTH site worked well. The new one doesn’t. It’s not us. It’s COTH. And while I doubt COTH is deliberately trying to pad its log-ins for any reason, I do think – as has been posted by others elsewhere on COTH before – that COTH definitely needs to either repair or replace its website provider.

I am getting “notifications” for a thread on which I have not posted. If I go to the forum (in this case dressage) the thread does not have the triangle “thingie” that indicates that I have contributed to the thread, but I have gotten three “notifications” in the last half hour??? Hummm!

Have you inadvertently subscribed to the forum?

At the top of each main forum page there’s a subscribe button. It’s fairly easy to click it by accident, then you’ll get notifications for all new posts in that forum.

Oh, duh! I didn’t do that on purpose, but I’m so technically challenged that I could have. Thanks.
