A $25 color dna test will tell you for sure.
Black coats will turn brown with the salt in sweat, so it is very hard to tell anything by looks alone on fuzzy foals.

In fact he was the same colour as yours at each stage.
Now he is this colour

DNA test says that he is homozygous black but with an agouti so he is brown.
He’s black.
Interesting that we just had our ISR/OLDNA inspection yesterday and our Bugatti colt has that light buff color and they told me they had to put down that he is dark bay. This colt is the 3rd black colt out of the same mare and I told them I’ll send photos of him when he’s completely shed out and he will be true black - as we experienced with his two brothers.
He was born with silver toning and as others have posted he bleached out this summer with blotching of dark patches as he’s losing his foal hair.
We’ve had two other true blacks out of other mares and it’s been the same experience.
Looks like the concensuses is black? Too funny to watch as he changes, this is from yesterday. He has suddenly dropped nearly all of his baby hair and is very dark on his body - still has the light brown around eyes though.
Regardless of what colour he is, he is growing into a beautiful horse!

He looks true black to me. I’d also body clip but I’m coming from a stock horse background with halter experience ,but not warmbloods.
