William Fox Pitt Clinic

I wanted to take a quick straw poll of a few ideas that have been floating across my desk for food.

There are several food trucks in the area (Salvadorian, Thai, Italian being the top three choices). But there are two restaurants that may and come do sandwiches, but would be a little more expensive.

I know my preferences (Thai please!) but since there’s going to be a number of our closest friends, I just wanted to check in.

All this grandeur! I laughed out loud when William came out of the port-a-loo on Saturday! Puts it all into perspective.

Oh, the pictures that I am imagining!

Food choices- Please have some choices without nuts, for those of us who are allergic to them. Wouldn’t want to distract from WFP by stopping breathing. Soo tacky!

Foodtruck!
If they’ll come in for a single day, why not do different trucks for each day …

Food trucks. Be sure there is a veg-head option.

This made me laugh, but then I realized it really did demonstrate what some posters are trying to say on this thread, myself included.

THIS is eventing. Not exclusivity, not star gazing, and not applications submitted to a group of people to see if they deem you worthy enough to ride in a clinic. The fact that eventing is relatively small and down to earth, with commonalities shared by all (including, yep, the dreaded porta potty) is what makes it great. We don’t need talk of exclusivity or be pointed out whom to admire – we already know, because we ride along with them.

Eventing has always been about being stabled next to a top level rider and seeing that they are just as nervous as you are before XC; having Jimmy Wofford stop to pick you up in his golf cart on a long walk back; lending a pitchfork to last month’s CCI**** champion; and yes, meeting one of the greats coming out of the porta potty.

So to WFP, I give a knowing virtual nod of the common unhappy experience of the porta potty on the last day of a horse show, grit my teeth a bit, and hope all the talk of “exclusivity” was just a misfortunate choice of words, the clinic is a raving success, and everyone has a great time.

Oh… and I would vote for Thai.

How in the world does WFP even fit in a porta-potty?

… very carefully?

What do you know that we don’t?

(Sorry, couldn’t resist)

Well, being England, if the port-a-loo was a particular shade of blue, it could well have been bigger on the inside.

I just wanted to drop a quick note to say that rider applications have closed as of last week.

I, and my committee, deeply appreciate the time that people have taken to support William, and the farm. The quality of applicants and horses that have turned out is possibly the strongest of any clinic I have hosted. All classes of riders and horses were represented.

There were also well over 70 applicants for 16 spots, we are in the process of reviewing everyone and will make our final decision shortly.

On a minor note- Market Salamander has accepted to become the caterer for the event, they will be on hand serving meals.

Kelly, I can’t wait to audit this clinic. Do you know when the clinic participants will be announced?

And you can’t beat Market Salamander! http://www.marketsalamander.com/

This promises to be a clinic like none other. Heck, maybe you can invite vendors! I vote for VTO.

If you focus on “exclusive” as a way of marketing…you turn off a lot of people who otherwise might attend your clinics. Instead of using those words…which reflects a mindset…you just say limited spots are available. In the end…they should pick who they want but I’m not a big fan of advertising a clinic this way. There are going to be over 100 people onsite, getting to and from town for lunch is a parking/logistical nightmare, so why not make things enjoyable and simpler by having someone onsite handling food and bev? If people want to pack a brown bag they can do that too. I’m just giving options to make things more civil.

I do think that having food vendors is a nice and looks like a great choice. I think it would be great (although of course more work) if you had a few other vendors. I don’t know if any of his sponsors want to be there…but it may be a good opportunity for them as there are not a lot of events…and Christmas is not that far away.

There will be, I just want them confirmed.

My committee and I have finalized the groups, while there might be some shift due to competition schedule, horses being horses and other various factors, we feel that this these are the best groups not only rider/horse wise, but also for the auditors at large. It represents a nice dynamic of American eventing. We couldn’t be more pleased about the quality and commitment that everyone has shown.

We still hope everyone who is capable of auditing, will audit.
