Amazing! I love it! Good boy Charlie!
Well, I didn’t try skijoring, but as I’ve never even ridden in the snow before, I decided it was a good time to go for a ride. Also, because I figured I might as well go for the whole teenaged horse girl fantasy, I decided to make it a bareback ride
I kept the ride to a walk, and just around the pond because I am not actually a teenager and it was cold…
And then somebody decided to be extra adorable and follow me around the paddock. Sorry for the Ex-twiiter link that Ex-twiiter thinks is sensitive, but my phone doesn’t want to upload video otherwise, so… Linky: https://twitter.com/risuenaVT/status/1749134689196011837
Despite ex-twitter at the time of this posting claiming my video might be sensitive, I swear it’s not! I mean, unless you have issues with big, mostly plain bays or snow! I didn’t even swear in the video (that’s an actual rarity)!
Also, I just love my boy. He’s so cute and so sweet.
Awww he looks very sweet and curious. I’m not a teenager either so a walk sounds just fine 🩵
He’s the best. And he’s the biggest sweetheart. And I’m so glad we got to mess around in the snow today
Yep! I have fallen literally just standing and waiting hahaha.
Our little herd was stuck inside for a week during below zero temps. They don’t have an outside windbreak, so leaving them out wasn’t an option.
First day out was yesterday. They were a bit excited.
Oh these pictures are awesome!! I love it. I can see the bucks and hear the squeals
Got this picture on the way to put hay out this morning. I thought the colors in the sky were interesting.
@risuenaVT, I secretly wanted to try riding around the farm in the snow, too. But my work schedule relegated me to after hours (ie, getting dark), so I just tried a hand walk the one night I got off early. Dobbin did NOT think that was nearly as idyllic and romantic as I did, so I never did try it mounted.
FB did remind me today that apparently I did attempt it with previous horse, who was too green to question authority at the time. As he got wiser and spookier, we just built snowmen.
Yeah why can’t our horses just cooperate like Charlie and give us a nice little Norman Rockwell moment?! I had an ambulance after one winter ride several years and horses ago lol
They just don’t appreciate lovely intangibles!
I might try a ride in the snow on my TWH if I get the chance, she’s pretty easy and sensible even without regular work. No way I will try it on my OTTB, she gets herd bound and opinionated over winter vacation and for my safety requires some lunging or ground driving before going back to work in the spring.
FWIW, in my picture the OTTB is on the right and the TWH is on the left, both in the plaid blankets. The red blanket is on a QH owned by a friend of mine.
24 degrees and 20mph winds but we still went for a ride in the snow yesterday. My old lady Fjord was feeling spicy in her fav kind of weather

My guy is definitely NOT a cold weather fan and was seriously questioning my sanity on why we were out there in the teen *s and wind. I was also the only one at the farm every time I went last weeks, so rather than get dumped in a snowbank and not found until thaw…
@tabula_rashah, that looks like a lovely ride!
@JBCool it was. I’m super lucky to board my horses next to a park with several thousand acres of riding
Aw, man! I want to come!
anytime you might happen to be in MD
Hahahaha He really managed to give everyone a very special day!! My mind was on making sure he was all good with everything and trying not to freeze so it wasn’t as magical for me, but thats ok. Ive been on the receiving side of experiences like that so I am happy we could be the experience givers this time.
A couple more for good winter measure!
