Winx, the wonder mare from Down Under.

She’s now 15/15.
Ran a nice race over a heavy turf course.

Shammy,
Thanks for sharing that

Here’s the replay… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoOATF9VrhA

Effortless, he barely moved on her. The way she went by the field was chilling to watch.

The last decade or so has been a golden age for fillies/mares worldwide.

Another one I have been watching from afar!

One interesting thing about her is that she is New Zealand tail female (with one Aussie bred) all the way to an 1846 Australian mare out of an 1837 GB import.

That’s 13 generations of Down Under breeding

Winx is now on a 16 win streak.
Even getting off a step slow & with the heavy course, she made it look easy!

Her next scheduled start is the Queen Elizabeth on April 8 (her fourth start in roughly 2 months). Wishing her the best!

18 for 18 yesterday (today?) in the Warwick Stakes GII at Randwick.

Blew the start pretty bad IMO. Late out of the gate after leaping in the air. Settled in at about 2 1/2 lengths behind the last horse in the field. Still last turning out of the far turn although having closed some of the gap to the leader. Hugh Bowman asked her to step up and she did nipping Foxplay at the wire by 1/2 neck.

Next on tap is the Chelmsford Stakes GII in two weeks.

What’s also amazing was how far out she was coming out of the turn and still won!

That race was pretty amazing.

Wow - that was something.
Thanks for posting. I’ve been out-of-the-loop from racing w/ work. She is something else!

The mare’s final 600 meters was clocked at :31.98, the fastest seen at Randwick. She crossed the wire first in a final time of 1:21.87.

So interesting that her sire and Zenyatta and Winx all were slow to start, and had/have an amazing final gear!

she was in the air when the gates opened & also whacked herself on the gate as she was leaving, yet still managed to win while running the fastest final 3 furlongs recorded at Randwick.
She such a brilliant mare!! I get goosebumps every time I watch her race.

For who those don’t “do” Facebook or missed this. It is worth checking out.

IMO it is the perfect video clip that fits her race yesterday. Anyone that has bet on a horse, owned one or just rooting for their horse has done the dance. Especially with a come from behind in a tight finish.

I don’t think you have to be a member of FB to watch it. Pretty sure its posted as “public”.

CVPeg, thanks for the heads up… sounds like 10:50p PT? (ugh)

I’ll have to listen to TVG to see if they’ll be carrying it as they do broadcast international racing in the late evenings from down under (and later on Fri/Sat nights  ).

Er, I mean 1:50am EST tonight! I kept thinking yesterday was Friday all day…

I’m hoping to find it online…maybe through Twin Spires?
Or, a replay tomorrow.

CVPeg, I made the successful “translation” to the racing being tonight (Friday).

It’s just the 10:50pm PT that was a bit of a gulp - past my bedtime

Yes, I stayed up until 10:50pm PT

19 for 19 and this one was a nail biter

Winx broke well and raced mid pack until the top of the lane (I think about 400m to go at Randwick). Hugh Bowman asked her to start moving and she did. The challenge was another horse (forget his name) was a bunny rabbit and had, I’m guessing, about 10+ lengths on the field. Down the lane, Winx gained ground steadily but really had a lot to do to catch up. 50m to go, she caught the horse in front (who’d been in the lead the entire race) and won by a length (I think).

Bowman said he was more worried this race than last just because of the fast solo horse way out in front.

Long term goal is a 3rd Cox Plate. Haven’t see where she’ll be targeted next.

She is quite the race mare!

Wow! I think maybe 3 or so lengths behind at 100 meters to go, and won going away! What a mare!

She’s a super horse…
