Woman Shot at Barisone Farm

If they do that certainly would shed a lot of light on the situation.

From what I’ve read about the numerous calls to the police by both parties and the description of the town as being quiet, I doubt they do. Then again, maybe they just aren’t releasing them.

It seems the police, the prosecutors office and the defense are being tight lipped about giving information. I don’t know how common that is for a case like this but most of the details seem to come from LK and people who have had run ins with her who are local to the area.

From what I hear MB was not exactly a crowd favorite…BUT LK has certainly put it out there as to the kind of person SHE is, that is where her issues will lay. MB is not so much being defended by people who know HIM, he’s being defended by people who know HER. Strange

I think sometimes a good PD knows that their inexperience in an area (like a homicide) is a hole and they work harder to do a good job because they are aware of their handicap, i.e. not having loose lips, doing what they do know to do in a manner that’s unquestionable, etc.

If they do have cameras, the loud mouths sure could be left exposed. Then again, even testimony by Police officers who were on scene, evidence wrt her wounds that appear to not be as she has described (center mass is not below your collarbone, 2 is not 3,4, howevermany, etc) etc,… heck, even LKs own words (her admission that she was beating MB with her phone AFTER being shot) …that refute the other, alternate narrative offered by LK and her boyfriend… should be enough to create doubt.

Wow. Just wow. You should have written the NYT article. Excellent observations! (Congratulations on being a cancer survivor - long life to you.)

You do realize it last sold in 1998 for about $270,000. And it is now for sale for $2.1 million. Of course we still don’t know if MB is full owner or not as it’s in an LLC I believe? At any rate we can assume mortgage paid in full some time ago.

This is how folks accrue wealth through real estate. A colleague maxed out her buying power to get a tear down fixer up for $550,000 less than a decade ago and now the land price is probably about $1.1 million. Of course she can’t move because everything else has gone up in price too.

A property like that selling for $270,000 after previously being sold for over $500,000 screams default. Not unusual for people to start up a nice business, get a huge loan build a fantastic facility and then run it into the ground with bad financial decisions, etc. My guess is that the price for the property now will not be what they get for it. I guarantee that the photos are really not recent and more like from well before this whole debacle even unfolded.

The sheet/blanket hanging in picture 4 is from the 2008 Hong Kong Olympics. While the photos may not necessarily be current does it make a difference?

What makes you think that? He built an equestrian facility where he could run his business and train his horses. You’re suggesting he had sales photos taken before moving any horses in?

Edit: good point above about the 2008 sheet.

It sounds as though, all paddocks at your barn are sacrifice paddocks.

I assume MH will be there for at least part of the season.

Keep in mind MB had a website before this happened that was taken down almost immediately after. Many of the photos are probably from his website.

The photos are very recent!

So disclaimer… I only dabbled in dressage, haven’t been in NJ in years, no ties to either party, I’m here mostly for the crazy TBH, have read 4000 or so of the 4400ish posts (sorry but the last several pages of the same posters bickering about semantics got real boring and I skipped) … I know this has already been posted as a viewpoint but I think it bares a bit of first person repeating…

I carried a gun when a certain cyberbully/COTH houseguest phenom started personally harassing me into my personal and professional life. I never thought I needed it bc he was generally all talk, but I was prepared to use it. If he, a 30 something larger man was LK, and I (at the time a 20 something) female was MB… no one would be surprised about the possession of a firearm at the time. Crazy is crazy is crazy. A spade is a spade. No one should assign any claims of innocence or guilt based on gender and size/age. I believe 90% of you here are already on board with that thought. But to accuse some posters for victim shaming… would it be victim shaming/blaming if the gender roles were reversed? JMO

Annnnd I’m out Mic drop

So someone bought this property in 1986 (33 years ago) and sold it at a loss 12 years later. The current owners have had it for 21 years. I’m used to seeing this kind of price increase in my home town, so this all looks quite normal to me. I think this kind of price increase is pretty typical of the nicer parts of the American East Coast. Yes, I had a smile too about the front porch being a “feature.” I just bet it is. As far as not putting house pics up, the only buyers for this would be serious horse people, and they would contact the agent to learn more. You don’t sell horse properties on the details of the house decoration, as every post about shopping for property on the On the Farm COTH forum agrees. And you don’t sell properties like this quickly, either.

In New England, I’ve always heard them called “mud paddocks”. Never heard the term “sacrifice paddocks” before, including while living in the mid-Atlantic.

I learned the terms sacrifice paddock and drylot on COTH. Around here we’d just say paddock to differentiate from field if we had a field, most don’t.

I learned the term most people use is “sacrificial area” here where I bought my farm. The sacrificial area for two horses on this pasture is the size of a small dressage arena. The pasture area is roughly 5-7 acreas divided in two parts by electric fence. The entire “sacrificial area” was also divided from the pastures by electric fence. One pasture (closest to the road) is partially three board fenced and then electric tap along the woods, up to the barn.

I was thinking earlier today about how many people have been effected by this incident. What a shame so many lives have been disrupted in so many ways. I put ALL of the blame on Lauren Kanarek. Did she deserve to be shot? NO, but she instigated and pushed this to the outcome she brought on everyone. In the future if someone tells you to leave their property, do it immediately.

did you think people missed you saying this the first forty or so times???

I think everyone gets that you think Michael barisone is absolutely not at all responsible for shooting a woman who annoyed him.

You are a real fan. congrats.
