It was not necessarily a loss. The 1986 price may have been for many more acres. They may have sold the extra acres over time, and had quite a profit. The 1998 price may reflect only the house and 56 bare acres.

ALL the blame? That is patently ridiculous, unless she pointed the gun at her chest and pulled the trigger herself. She chose her negative behaviour and MB chose how to respond. Plenty of blame to go around.

What are all the actions that led up to whatever happened August 7? MB and MH and everyone else involved are as much a victim as LK. Exactly what did anyone on that property do to LK to cause her to harass, threaten, falsely report, drive MB from his own home, and cause MB to call the police multiple times? What “blame” do MH, JH or RC or all of MB’s other clients deserve? Obviously from my previous posts I believe much more went on in that yard other than Rob Goodwin’s version of events.
Hopefully enough light has been put on LK’s behavior now to warn others to not engage in any relationship with her. The sad thing is not one of her previous victims had the platform to raise awareness.

You are right that all of those that you mention are victims, but they are victims of MB’s choices and not LK’s.
Posts like this are examples of why the NYT article is completely accurate. If the environment at the farm was as toxic as it sounds that it was, any decent mother of young children would have taken her children and left long before the shooting happened. I am a mother, and I can guarantee that I would not have stayed on a property where the police were being called at all hours of the day and night every day for a week or whatever. What kind of mother exposes her children to that kind of drama? MH is guilty of allowing herself and her children to witness all this BS for as long as it was going on. MB is a moron for the way he handled this; nothing more needs to be said there.
All of us in our lifetimes come into contact with people who are not rational. A huge percentage of us find a way to remove ourselves from their lives LONG BEFORE we decide that shooting them more than once at close range in the chest is the way to handle the situation. If MB didn’t know about LK’s reputation when he took her on a student, shame on him. An Olympic level trainer should have access to information about any prospective trainee prior to taking her on, so if he did not do his due diligence, shame on him. It sounds as though the information was out there. Unless he’s dumb as a bag of hair, which is quite possible based on where he is now.
LK hasn’t ruined anyone’s life in this situation. Everyone who is affected negatively by this is on MB. He ruined a lot of lives by choosing to shoot LK in the chest.

Also..... you should know better than anyone just how unreliable MB & JH & their barn rats are. All the stories told about you were, I’m sure, either extremely fabricated or downright lies. But as you Definitely know, things are NEVER what they seem at that barn. It’s just lies on top of lies on top of lies on top of lies. Anytime you wanna hear the 18 months worth of nighttime JH & MB crap stories they tried to say you did/tried to do - I’d be more than happy to share. With ONLY you. Unlike some people, I don’t spread lies about people. Even if there’s any truth to it. Plus, you’re one of the very few who also know exactly what goes on there. Once an employee is told to stick to “the story,” - (on ANY matter) the blind followers do just that. Or....... they get the hell out. Mb makes big promises to those who don’t know him better. The minute he is called on his shit - he panics & begins a smear campaign. And why not ??? He has his self serving, narcissistic, wannabe trainer and boy puppet (JH) - king of body shaming, to help him keep his lies straight. They were not harassed by us. We were NOT “squatting.” Justin just couldn’t deal with the fact his upstairs apartment was given to us after the pipe burst. He got betrayed by MH ..... as did everyone else. That was a few months ago. If we were SO bad..... a pipe bursting would seem to be the perfect excuse to ask us to leave. Instead, we were told to bring more of our horses & given the apartment of the longest employee MB has ever had. Yet....... no one seems to find that inconsistent with most of the BS stories they’ve been trying to tell...... Hopefully, you will ALWAYS remember the dishonesty you witnessed first hand. â¤ï¸

This is exactly right. There is only one person responsible for the shooting: MB. 100% And from a previous post it seems MB wasn’t even all that popular.
But you are wrong that the NYT article was “completely accurate.” It was very partially accurate with a lot of factual (and easily checked and, in fact, subsequently changed or deleted) errors. It also suffered from a complete blind eye to the fact that what the article decried was and currently is LK’s online calling card. Absolutely tone deaf, that article. It would have been bad enough that the reporter omitted LK’s past insane online bullying, threatening, and harassing. But to also ignore that she was barely out of the ICU before she hit the ground running at people again complete with cursing, body shaming, and threats. She hardly missed a beat. I mean, that’s current events [edit].

This is the most succinct and wisest summary of the whole reaction both here and on social media at large. THIS is the kind of insight you’d expect from a NYT reporter. But it was completely missing in favor of some soapy, click baity story line about victim blaming and BNT hero worship. And, in fact, it has even one more nuance: by and large he’s not even being defended by people who know her; she’s just being called out for her behaviour by people who know her. But b/c she was shot she and the NYT feel she should be immune to any consequences of past/present/future behaviour. That’s just not how it works. And it’s not how it should work. Nothing in life should give you carte blanche to run roughshod over people while being immune from any criticism. That’s not a good blueprint for society.

Were the state of the art 24 stall barn and indoor with $100k worth of footing on the land in 1998?

I think that when the property was sold for 550k it may have had more acreage than when it was later sold for 270k. In other words, the original owner split off some acres. Also, I think when Barisone LLC bought it for 270k it did not have all the equestrian improvements. So, it’s not like it appreciated from 270k to 2m just due to time. I suspect it cost a minimum of 500k to put up that barn and indoor. The 2.5m is in line with other properties currently for sale in Hunterdon County.
Mistakes about LK’s age and writing that MB was an Olympian (which were corrected) aside, I’m willing to bet that Ms. Nir followed the thread as she linked it to a specific page and she has posted on CoTH before. I am also wondering if she made the assumption that the readers of her article would read some or most of this thread, where screen shots, and quotes from LK’s Facebook were posted.
However, none of that changes the perception that some posts come off as, and a few have stated (now deleted of course except a recent one) that all the blame is with LK. Clearly, posters like myself, ladyJ, jealoushe and others are not alone in how it all reads. So while the article may come off as biased to those who know the players and are involved in some way, an outsiders impression is that yes, some posts read like victim blaming from behind a screen name.
Maybe Ms. Nir should have provided links to the Facebook pages. Maybe Ms. Nir should not have assumed the readers of the NYT would read this thread. Maybe, instead of doubling down on those of us that said “hey this is how your post reads” the posters who made that statement tried to write in a way that didn’t convey that.
I didn’t find the article biased. I think it was all laid out as best it could have been given the sheer amount of social media back and forth. I am also wondering if she’s writing a series on this case. People were so excited about this article until it came out and people were portrayed as victim blaming because that is how the posts could read to some including Ms. Nir and many of the readers who commented on the article.

Here in Ontario dry lot and sacrifice paddocks are common terms. I have lost a couple of good boarders whose horses are IR because I don’t have a dry lot. I also do not have a sacrifice paddock but do have a winter sacrifice field to save my good summer/fall pasture. The reason for the term “sacrifice” is that the footing gets trashed in the spring and wet season. Just FYI…

Wonder why those that think LK is dangerous and warn everyone to stay away have continued to engage with her online for years, as well as go after her here. Can’t believe it is for any noble reason. Seems like she already has found a new trainer and has a place to board.
Did you really expect she wouldn’t fight back? Or was that the intent, to stir the pot. There obviously is a small group of people here that communicate privately, have had arguments with her and have been after her for years with complaints to safe sport(ruled unwarranted) and claiming cyber bullying(one could easily bring the same case that LK has been bullied online) without much success. And now, after she was shot, want to put her on trial on social media. They say LK should have walked away from the conflict, but they don’t take their own advise. Time to give it up and leave it to the police, lawyers and the courts.
