Womanly-sized riders, unite!

SmartPak and Curvy Cowgirl both carry Fuller Fillies. EquestrianCollections.com has the 18-24 collection. Don’t know offhand shipping times and prices.

I have the same issue with waist and hips. I just love Irideon Cadence pull-ons. It sounds like a 1x would probably fit. I find the elastic in the waist is very comfortable and they pull on very easily. They also wear like iron. I have full seats which I’ve worn for several years and they are still going strong.

I also like the Irideon breeches but check the size chart - 1X is NOT the correct size for your rider and I find the Irideon breeches don’t fit generously.

Women’s S M L XL 1X 2X 3X
Waist S 26—27, M 28—29, L 30.5—32, XL 33.5—35, 1X 35.5—37.5, 2X 39.5—41.5, 3X 43.5—45.5
Hips S 36—37, M 38—39, L 40.5—42, XL 43.5—45, 1X 45—47, 2X 49—51, 3X 53—55

Don’t let the hip size scare you off - these are stretchy so shouldn’t be too terribly big in the hips.

Hey everyone! Just thought I’d post a quick update on my quest for Field boots for my 18" calves (I remeasured… I’m not the 17.5 I thought I was!!). I considered the Hispars but got too sketched out by the inconsistency in the quality, and I tried to order a pair of the Treadstone Classics but no one could get them in stock.

Anyways, thanks to this thread I found out about the Mountain Horse Richmond High Riders. Someone on here had said that the Wide in that model fit their 17.5" calf so I decided to give them a shot.

Well, finally got them today and they fit beautifully! I ordered the size 9W (my foot can be anywhere from an 8-9 in size) but the 9W was wider in the calf than the 8W so I figured better to go up a bit than down. I should also note that I have a wider than average foot (though not super wide) and the shoe portion of the boot is extremely comfortable! I’m not super tall at only 5’3 and a bit but the regular height is just fine.

Haven’t had the chance to ride in them yet (that’ll be tomorrow) but I’ve been dancing around the house in them because I’m so happy I found an off the shelf boot that fits without a struggle, looks good and the leather is actually nicer than I was expecting!!

So a big thank you to all the ladies of this board. Without you, I would never have discovered these boots!

Curvy Cowgirl

Thank you Curvy Cowgirl for being at the WEG and having the Fuller Filles dress boots in stock so I could actually try a pair on. Needless to say, they came home with me! I’m absolutely thrilled. They zipped up with no problems, didn’t feel tight…just new.

I have such a high arch/instep that I did have to go up a size just to get my foot past the ankle area, but that’s OK…in the long run that works out better anyhow. I would have loved to have tried on some of the breeches etc, but the budget would only go so far.

And for anyone who doubts a “plush” person can ride? Well, they needed to have watched the Reining Freestyle Exhibition at the WEG. One girl was definitely “plush” and WOW! She was fricking awesome. Inspired me to keep on riding and improving!

Ladies while at DAD I had 2 long conversations with a “Pikeur” rep regarding sizes.
She told me they felt the 24-28 sizes are the best sellers and they didn’t see a marketing need for larger sizes…WTF…after 5 days of polling mature riders and people coming thru the grounds I told her there is a definate client base for 36 and up.
We ladies want the better fabrics and colors and not just pull-on stretchy fabic.

So here is the parent Co …Frantisi.com…feel free to express you desire to have high quality breeches in the newest colors and fabrics available to you.

I lucked out and got 36’s PIK Luciana-Micro FS with comfort waist band in Chocolate. They are cut for the rider with no waist…unike a curvey style that accomidates full hips and a smaller waist.

Sadly most of the German breeches are cut for the curveless; even the ones that are supposed to be for curvy gals aren’t so much. Horka breeches from Holland have a great curvy line and you can get them on eBay. Marieke from this BB sells them, and she is very good at assessing the size you’ll need. Fabulous quality.

OMG!!!

I’ve heard such great things about Apryl and Curvy Cowgirls, that her booth was on my list of “must visit” at WEG…and I am so glad I did! I tried on the Fuller Fillies country boot in XW and it’s the first time EVER I’ve had a boot on that was too big! lol So, I grabbed a pair of the FF jean britches and slipped them on, with the W country boot - PERFECT FIT! I bought them both and wore them out of the store. I also bought a lovely jacket from Apryl. The only thing I would add is that I did go to WalMart and buy a pair of sole inserts as I need a little extra support in my arch.

Ladies, I cannot tell you how many people stopped me to ask where I got my awesome boots, and oh my, the compliments I got! I ended up going back to Apryl the next day and bought a pair of the Fuller Fillies brown and black plaid full seat breeches…TO DIE FOR!!! I will be placing the blue and black plaid on my Christmas list for hubby.

Please, please, please…if you are looking for Womanly-sized gear…go to Curvy Cowgirl website! Apryl was freaking awesome - she even threw in a pair of tall boot socks for free because I was so delighted to find tall socks to fit! Did you know this…she said that 60% of woman riders are size 14 and above! I have never in my life felt so good in riding clothes and boots!!

Well I am curveless and your Fuller Filliers etc dont’ work for me or those of us waistless/hipless/thighless riders who are not sticks.

So those German cuts in a 36R do fit if not cut as 30R with a 36 size stamped on it

Zipper broke on new boots…totally bummed

Well I’m totally bummed. Went to ride in my new Fuller Fillies tall boots and the zipper on the left one broke before I even got it zipped two inches. :frowning: :sigh: Anybody else have problems with the zippers breaking? Have to admit, they do look kinda thin and fragile.

I’ll be sending them back to Curvy Cowgirl in hopes they’ll be replaced. I was really impressed at the WEG. Curvy Cowgirl’s booth was small, but they were so friendly and helpful. I wished I’d had more money to spend there (she had some lovely vests and breeches).

Drats. I was really looking forward to riding in those new boots. They felt comfortable and the soles have good treads too. Such a let down after searching so long for something that finally fit. :frowning:

Sorry to hear that. I never use the zippers on boots even if they come with zips, I always pull them on.

Western Wear for a Curvy Non-cowgirl

I am starting to look for something to wear when showing western pleasure this fall and winter. All of the western wear I see in catalogs is very form-fitting and all of the models are very slender. The same is true of catalogs that sell regular clothes for full-figured women (not riding wear)–the models are all the typical tall and thin models, not the short round women I see in everyday life. I can’t tell how the clothes would look on someone short and round like me. The last western-wear store we had here went out of business a year or so ago, so all I can do is order from a catalog, but not only do I not know what to wear, I don’t know what actually fits.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

WHERE was the Curvy Cowgirl booth at WEG??? We walked every single aisle and went into every single booth. I have a pair of Effinghams that fit in the calf AS LONG as I put them on in the morning and my legs dont swell. Im sure I could put zippers in and they would fit better but the foot is HUGE and even with heel lifts, the height of the shoe part of the boot, where it is stiff up to the ankle is too tall.

:frowning: Sad face about missing their booth.

I got a really nice Ariat western shirt on Ebay - red, with a sparkly thread to it, good for local shows - they come in sizes up to 3x I think. Also, HobbyHorse has some rather nice plus sized show jackets and so on; you might also do well to find someone who makes custom show shirts and go from there - there are a lot of reasonably priced options on Ebay too!
Good luck!
Dee

Kudos and big thumbs up to Curvy Cowgirl!!!

Curvy Cowgirl had a very small booth at WEG…you had to look pretty close to find it, but it was packed with really good stuff! They had a sign in a couple of places listing the vendors and their booth numbers…that helped some.

Apryl contacted me immediately after sending her an email about the zipper on my boots. She’s already shipped me a replacement pair! WOW! As if that wasn’t fabulous enough, she said they will have the zipper fixed in the pair I bought and then donate them to therapeutic riding…now how cool is that?

Apryl and Curvy Cowgirl ROCK!

Hobby Horse has the most FABULOUS plus sized show shirts. I have one - I am showing my dressage horse in a few western classes at a fundraiser show in a few weeks. Totally pimped out shirt, I love it.

Holly Hobby is my vote also for plus size shirts. I haven’t bought any show pants yet. Rod’s carries plus sizes but the shirts tend to run short in length and not truly size correct.

Does anyone else have trouble getting pictures to come up on The Curvy Cowgirl’s website? I wanted to see some of the new items and it didn’t matter if I used Firefox or IE I couldn’t get any pics. :frowning: So sad.

Ditto this regarding the Fuller Fillies line on their site - is Curvy Cowgirl Couture the right company?

Works fine for me.

Just a heads up - VTO saddlery is having a sale on full seat breeches up to size 40 - only $50 each!! Worth a look to see if any of the brands are the ones you like
