I take flax pills to help with joint pain (figured since it helped my old mare out it might help me). Well, it definitely does help me with joint pain and, as an added bonus, ever since I started taking them my calves and ankles do not swell up. At all. If I quit taking them for a few days the swelling comes back, especially on hot days. Don’t know why, don’t know if it would work for everyone, but they are cheap ($11 for a big bottle at Costco) so it might be worth trying. I take two in the morning and two in the evening.

Works fine for me.[/QUOTE]
Maybe this is why I got confused - different company with an almost identical name!

Thanks for the info! I am willing to try it. It is really annoying and it doesnt matter how much I drink or how little salt I take in.
Dressage coat…
I HAD to post, just got the nicest fitting dressage coat. I tried ordering thru Curvy Cowgirl but they said they are out of many sizes for a little bit so I went on the hunt and found…
http://www.adamshorsesupply.com/browse.cfm/4,1279.html
Ordered on and it is just lovely - and I mean lovely. It lays well, the material is nice and the jacket was less expensive than others I was looking at. They have MANY sizes in this sucker, so I highly recommend this jacket for any of the womanly sized gals.
Hey Ladies! I just bought Irideon’s Bootcut Windpro knee patch breech from Equestrian Collections 18/24 Plus size section. I love Irideon’s clothes and this is the only website that carried the bootcut breech in plus size. Has anyone else ordered them? They are new for this season and cost $114  - A bit pricey IMO.
I wear 2x but bought the 3x to have some extra room since they are thicker, but I am not too sure I like them. They are WAY long in the leg for me - better suited for an inseam of 34-36 (I wear 30-32). I’m walking on the bottom of the leg and the knee patch is actually on my calf - not on the knee. Or is that how they’re supposed to be? Don’t know, but this breech is not as flattering as their other breeches and bunch and sag around my thigh.
They are, however, super duper comfortable, soft and warm so I am not sure if I want to return them just yet. Maybe they will grow on me.
I also ordered the Irideon Polartec vest that was on sale for $40 and it looks and fits fantastic!
FullerFillies at the Royal?
Canadian peeps…are there any booths that might have FF stock at the Royal this year? I know that Bahr’s is GOING TO have it in the future, but was wondering if anybody has anything now. I am positively in loff with the red fleece vests! Want to see some of their other new items too!
Dee
I was told by Richvale and Repeat Rider that the Canadian distributor for FF had decided to drop the line. I don’t know that there’ll be anyone with new items – maybe some of last season’s stock? I hope I’m proven wrong.

Thanks, GT! I know that the local tack shop said that the CDN distributor was a right mess, and that FF was trying to find a new one. When I contacted them, they suggested ordering from Apryl at The Curvy Cowgirl in the meantime. Was just hoping someone might have something, even if it isn’t this year’s stuff - I love me my checked full-seats! Want more colours!

Dover’s Catering to Sizes 14 and Under Rant
Has anyone else noticed that you pretty much have to be a size 14 and under (in some cases a size 12) to wear the clothing featured in Dover’s catalog? Thank goodness they still carry Irideon, but it seems like if you are womanly-sized, your options are now limited to SmartPak and Curvy Cowgirls. Dover used to sell breeches sizes 38 and 40. What happened? Do you think this was a Dover decision or the manufacturers’? While I am extremely grateful to SmartPak and Curvy Cowgirls for selling womanly-sized products, I find the trend of not making clothes that fit “the masses” alarming.
Had the chance to meet Apryl of Curvy Cowgirl at Equine Extravaganza in VA last weekend. What a neat lady!!!
Best of all: for the first time in almost 18 years, I tried on tall dress boots and -SHAZAM- they fit!!! Soft, yummy leather and comfy foot bed. Alas, someone did an “oops” and put in a size 9 right boot and a size 10 left boot in the same box, sooooo I couldn’t bring them home. Apryl says “Darlin, you order them on line and I’ll ship free!” Yay! Can’t wait
Apryl is a star. She is a dear friend and a super busineswoman. Choco, great news about the boots!
I met Apryl at Equine Affaire in Massachusetts. She was along way from home and I never expected to see her in Mass. SmartPak didn’t bring any Fuller Fillies this year. April’s booth was stuffed!
I tripped over her booth while wandering the rows in the Better Living Center. Better Living with riding togs that fit. The plaid breeches are made out of wonderful fabic but alas are way too long for me. I’m not sure shortening them would work. She also had tall boots and offered to one woman who was trying them on to walk around in one boot and one sneaker a little while to see how she liked them. How cool is that? The quality looked pretty good for the price but I didn’t try any on because I have a pair of semicustom field boots.
I did get a technical riding shirt marked down $25. Last one left.
I found a 2x pair of full seat Irideons at Bit of Britain. They are my favorite breeches because they are comfortable and last forever. They aren’t making them in cool colors like my worn pairs in Merlot and Truffle. Oh well. I’ll make do with black.
Two enthusiastic thumbs up for customer service for R.J. Classics! They helped me figure out my (womanly) size and get the coat shipped to me in a timely fashion.
Horsey-Sized Horses for Womanly-sized riders
What size horse is a good size for a womanly-sized rider?
I have heard that a larger-sized rider who knows how to ride is less hard on a horse than a smaller rider who doesn’t. That it isn’t so much a weight thing as a balance thing.
What are your thoughts?
Two thumbs up for Apryl of Curvy Cowgirl!
She rocks! I bought a pair of Fuller Filly tall boots at the WEG and had an issue with one when the zipper broke the first time I put them on at home.
Apryl shippd me a replacement pair before I even had the original pair shipped back to her. The replacement pair didn’t work (wrong size). I had to wait a little while as she had sold out of my size, but as soon as she was restocked…bam, my boots were here!
Her customer service is great. Wish I could say that about all the companies I’ve dealt with. Believe me, she understands the needs and goes out of her way to help us “Curvy” girls!
Thanks Apryl!
KEEP THIS GOING!!!
Bump!!!
I now own 3 pairs of the Fuller Fillies breeches (just got the Sophistikat) and I really got to thinking… FF should make us Queen-Sized riders a pair of show pants. Really. Like with Schoeler fabric and a lower rise. Model them after Tailoreds or Ciaras… just my 2 cents

I’m 5’2 and womanly-sized, and I have a 16hh Paint gelding. I can just about reach the crease on his butt to brush it. I’ll have to walk home if I wind up on the ground during a trail ride. No hope of getting on from the ground. However, I’ve been told I look really good on him.
Yes, the balance thing is a big deal. I suppose I could ride a smaller horse, but I think there is a proportion between the size of the rider and size of the horse and I doubt I’d look “good” on a smaller horse. On the other hand, I’m not sure what I think about all those tiny women in their size 0 on the 17hh and up warmbloods.
Finally got to ride in my Fuller Filly dress boots!
Whoop-ee!! I can’t believe what I’ve been missing for so long. No squeezing the calf or pushing the leg in, no having to try and keep a finger beneath the zipper so it doesn’t snag the socks or breeches. No breaking a sweat just trying to get them on. They just zipped right up. No trouble at all.
And I can tell it won’t take too long to break them in either. Wore them most of the afternoon, including an hour long ride, and other than a little bit of tenderness where they are starting to wrinkle at the ankle and poking me kinda funny, no issues. No blisters, rubs or soreness.
They fit. They are comfortable. They look good. So nice to find something with all three of those qualities together for a change.
Next year I can breathe a sigh of relief in knowing I can go to a show and not have to worry that legs are swollen from the heat. Thanks Apryl, for carrying this line of products and your wonderful customer service. You’ve helped remove a major stress factor from my show days!
White full seat breeches
I will probably have to replace the dreaded white full seat breeches this year and would love to have ones with darker contrasting seat patches (black or dark gray), which are slimmer looking and more practical. Anyone know of any like this that come in larger sizes? I take about a 38 (2X in Irideons).
