Womanly-sized riders, unite!

For belts, try this link to VTO Saddlery’s bargain basement.

They have sizes 36, 38 and 40 in the belts. I have a couple of these in a different style, and get lots of compliments from even my non horsey friends. And the best part is that they are only 14.95 and shipping/handling is 3.99! LOVE VTO!

Tack of the Day has the Tuffrider dressage coat today for $79.97, up to size 20. Anybody tried one of these?

Thanks Criss for the input on the 1824 coats. I havent received it yet but I think I’ll have time to exchange it if its too big. But, I did score big when a friend of my trainers who not longer shows is selling me 2 practically brand new show shirts…and guess what! THEY FIT. I just about cried. One is a Equine Athletics size 3P(assuming thats like a 3x) and the other is from Crest Release in a size 26 and its a little big. Yea!! Now just waiting on the Hunt coat…

I created a links page on my web site with a lot of the links to clothing and equipment in this thread. I haven’t gone through all 28 pages of posts, so I’m sure I missed some. If you have one you want to add, click on the “Submit Link” link up in the right hand corner of the text area, or post it over on the new thread I created:

Womanly-Riders Links

Cool, thanks luvs2ride79!!

Luvs2ride, you are my hero for the whole month of June!!! I would like to erect a statue in your honor, but I’m not very artistic with that kind of stuff, so I hope a huge ‘THANK YOU’ will do!

 @ see you at x

I emailed the lady Coreene posted. Price for a customized Petrie is about $600…and there are features you can add for more $$.

OK, update on the Kerritts jacket I mentioned a long, long time ago.

It’s called the “Flying Changes” jacket, is a waterproof, wind jacket. The XL is roomy for me on top, just right at the hips. Sleeves and cut are quite a bit too long, but I LOVE the curved hemline which is lower in back–i.e. covers my backside in breeches. For reference, I’m a XL or 2xl, (ladies 16-20 depending on cut/style etc.) on top–usually men’s L or XL jackets–XL for the hips, L for everything else. Truly, this is the first EQUESTRIAN jacket I’ve EVER tried that fits me in a normal, not plus size.

It’s way expensive, and I had the tack shop order me one after trying the size and being absolutely THRILLED that it fit–without knowing the price. :frowning: I wouldn’t have dropped THAT much change on a lightewight jacket… OTOH, I think it will be great for rainy shows. I hope the fabric is high tech enough to live up to the price.

Okay, I got the Trail Rider Ultra pants, http://www.aretesaddlery.com/tack/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=13
And they are GREAT! The XL was actually a bit too big in the hips and waist, but the Large would have been to small. So I had my tailor take them in for me, and they fit beautifully. I have ridden in them twice now, in hot & humid Arkansas and they felt very nice. Stretch, but still suportive, and not nearly as hot as I expected. I’ll definitely be ordering another pair!

Update - Kerrits Eventing Polo in plus sizes!

Got my Tack of the Day order today - I ordered the Kerrits Eventing Polo, and got a great deal. Now… how true to size are they?

Well… a 2X is snug. The Kerrits ventilator show shirt is way roomy in the 2X, to the point where I think I could happily get by with a 1X with room to spare. The 2X Eventing Polo is probably better for ladies who are “pears” rather than “apples”. I’m rockin’ the 40DD’s… but even with the compression bra, these are not all that loose.

But let’s get right down to it…would I buy another one?

Probably not. The Ventilator - oh yes, one in every color, please!

It’s been a couple of weeks since I got any e-mails about updates to this thread, so I thought I’d post something here myself.

Do any of you know where to get good Coolmax-type T-shirts? I’m thinking Wal-Mart more than Dover, because of my budget. I’ve actually seen some at Wal-Mart but I haven’t tried any of them. I’d also consider a sleeveless shirt if it were cut for womanly sized women and had plenty of coverage. I just don’t feel comfortable riding in spaghetti straps, although at home, in my tank top, I feel oh-so-cool and comfortable!

Try Campmor, they have a LOT of wicking, hi-tech fabrics, coolmax etc. I got a really ugly but wonderfully comfortable in hot GA summers Duofold coolmax or similar Tshirt from them for maybe 4.95 several years ago. I am not a small person and these shirts are nice and stretchy. check them out at campmor.com

Campmor ROCKS!!! Last January, when I went hiking in Oregon, I ordered TONS of stuff from them, because I wanted to be sure I was well protected from the elements. I ordered about 3 sets of long underwear (tops and bottoms) and a Columbia fleece jacket, for around $50-60. They really do have super deals!

Bybee Girl, thank you for the tip re the belts from VTO, one is on its way as we speak!

Target has coolmax polo shirts for $18–but they only have men’s. I wear a 16-18 on top and the medium fits me perfectly except for the sleeves being a tiny bit longish. I couldn’t find anything in larger women’s sizes (talking larger than 10) at either our local Target or Walmart. They had men’s coolmax tanks, but the armholes are gigantic.

I lost 8 pounds!

Woooo-hoooooo!!! Go Twink, you sexy thang, you!!! 8 lbs. is AWESOME!!!

Aunt Esther thanks you

Aunt Esther, national and international Purse Champion, thanks the delightful ladies on this thread for their wonderful advice. Aunt Esther, of course, has an absolutely perfect figure and will never need to worry about special sizes, but she realizes this is a blessing and that she merely did not get the short stick when it came to genes.

Aunt Esther’s dear but departed husband, Mr. Esther, did so wish for a bit more shapely on Aunt Esther’s derrière, but alas it was not meant to be.

Aunt Esther’s sister, Aunt Edith, wears shapely breeches. Thanks to this thread, Aunt Esther has an endless list of sources for gifts for Aunt Edith.

Aunt Esther. thank you.

Let Aunt Edith know she’s got a good bunch of gals here to help dress her in the manner she should be. We would never let one of our sisters go out with bad breeches, or a vest that doesn’t fit…all our stuff is tried and true. Thanks for the nod in our favor.
