Womanly-sized riders, unite!

If you can find them, Dafna’s go pretty big. I take a 17" in a normal dress boot, so add wool socks and two or three layers… the Dafna’s still mostly fit. They have four velcro closures–like splint boots! There is one I can never get, but I just hook it back to itself and don’t worry about it.

I’ve no idea where to find them though, I got mine at an Expo, then on Ebay.

Brit Riders by Muck Boot are good. Not perfect, but good. They will stretch to accomodate up to around 20" I think. With the right socks, they go down to single digits quite comfortably. They help riding position very nicely if you’re a dressage-boot type. I only had mine 2 years though before the outer layer started coming apart from the inner layer a little–which leaves room for stuff to get in there (mud etc.). They also are ‘peeling’ a little on the shafts. For $100 for RUBBER boots I expected a little more longevity. Still, they are warm and they fit. IF they get wet though inside, you must have some sort of boot dryer or be able to put them over a heating vent if you need them to dry in any reasonable time frame.

Hey Pinto, you never did tell where you got the brown boots(from your other post)… spill it girl!

Nittany boots on ebay come in all kinds of calf sizes, including a very generous XXW. (They’re actually big on my calves and I don’t need a boot jack to get them on or off!!!) The prices are very fair for the quality and they also have field boots in brown!!! Happy shopping.

Glad other folks are having good results with Robin at The Collection Store too. I was so blown away by the customer service I got when I popped in between classes at a show. (The trailer was there and is on the road about 40 weeks/year.) Much to my surprise there were two HUGE racks of jackets (the whole length of the trailer), including about 10-15 feet worth of “plus size” jackets. Robin also had show shirts up to a 50 a bust and is quite good at matching a shirt to a jacket for you as well.

Happy shopping everyone.

I am in trouble as she will have the trailer at the horse show in Syracuse this weekend…$$ will be spent

The breeches are wonderful–I have 2 pairs! They are the side zip and for me–pass as TS’s.

They were a gift! They are Devon Aire’s, but more like buffalo leather than normal shiny slick boot leather, (thick, but soft with a slight grain to them) Bought at the SLT final sale room quite a few years ago and sat unused. Nittany is where I was looking & coveting previously.

Anybody who is a vest geek might want to check out:

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/index/index-display.jsp?id=cat602995

Cabelas is an outdoor/hunting/fishing type store - they’ve got a bunch of vests, many of which go up to 2xl. I bought one of the Cabelas brand suede/knit vest last year (hmmmm, not for riding!) and the size was true.

They’ve got spring colors (violet/stone) in a quilted vest on sale for 14.88 down from 29.95 to 34.95. The fall colors are listed at the regular price.

I have a pair od Nittany on order in brown! I am going to use them for everything. I just love the color.
I was just curious, since in her other thread she said they were from Stateline, but I wanted to know if she got them from Stateline, or another source, and what brand?
Nittany are decent, I have had a pair of them before, and they look nice. I don’t do zippers, and am glad I can find big calf boots with no zippers.

I have said before, my calves are now COWS!

Just saw this after I posted my last reply. I can’t wait for my new Nittany’s to get here.

TOTD Kerrits cargo

so, the Kerrits cargo (knee patch and full seat!) are on tack of the day today for 43.95. I haven’t worn Kerrits before… is the fabric (in charcoal) fairly forgiving? Also, with all the talk of their sizes changing, anyone know how this particular cut runs?
Thanks ladies!

Spiffy, I had a pair of the cargo tights, and I sold them on ebay recently. The sizing was very generous (for breeches). I bought my usual breech size, and they were too big. I didn’t care for the fabric – it’s all synthetic (which is oK sometimes, like in the Irideon cadence breeches), and I found it not my favorite thing, kind of like panty horse, but a loose version. (It did have a lot of stretch.) But what I really didn’t like was the full-seat material – that Griptek stuff reminded me of something you’d cover a couch with in the 70’s – not a soft fake suede, not even a nice fake leather. It was a thinner, weird feeling (almost rubbery) fabric, and it stuck me to the saddle like nothing ever has before (uncomfortably so).

I was really dissapointed to sell them because I loved the pockets on them. They were perfect for a cell phone. I wish another manufacturer would make breeches for schooling with a pocket like that.

Equus Now is having a brilliant close-out sale, including many breeches. I called and they don’t have 38s, but perhaps some slightly-smaller ladies might have better luck? Can’t say no to $25 breeches…

WHERE???[/QUOTE]

They’re located in Ohio, but you can also order online or over the phone - www.equusnow.com

I looked online and didn’t see clearance. I saw one pair of jods for $20 that go up to 32, but that’s it? I don’t see any at $25…

I’m not sure if they’re all listed online, you may have to call. I received their fall/winter close-out brochure on Friday.

hey y’all look!

have a look here! I found some true plus sized stuff on my favorite addiction (other than here)

Remember, ladies, that buying a size or two too big is never a bad thing. Have it tailored; looks much better!

Okay… so I got these and they just arrived today!

Here’s my review…

HOLY COW!!! 2X really IS a 2X - there is room for my 38DDs and maybe another set too. (the sizing chart on the website is not accurate, IMO)

The problem with these (and for me it’s kind of a dealbreaker, even if I could get them smaller), is that they are cut rather straight, without a lot of contour through the waist. I’m ridiculously hourglass shaped, so this isn’t really working for me. They’d work nicely on an “apple” type figure though. My husband tried it on, and it fit him great, although not quite masculine enough for his tastes .

The pockets are really cool though (zippers!) and the material is very soft and nice. The “violet” is gorgeous.
