spurs: get a second set of straps. Run it under the spur shank and over your instep. Ugly but effective
Hey, for all you online shoppers, Avenue.com has a 31% off sale through Wednesday; the code is 71306.
It seems I was wrong (gasp!) Neither pair of my Mt Horse boots have spurs rests. They just have the little tab that is under the zipper (from the heel to the bottom of the zipper), and my spurs seem to rest fine on that. It is probably because I have big feet, and my boots are pretty wide in the heel, so my spurs stay on them nicely. Just lucky I guess! And those are men’s size spurs, I think. Narrow spurs wouldn’t fit on very well.
Irideon Powerstretch breeches and Mt. Horse fusion boots
Buyer beware. Bought a pair of the afore-mentioned winter breeches and they are the first Irideon product I haven’t liked! On my equileather synthetic Wintec saddle, they are so slippery, it is like riding on ice. Not easy to sit the canter, let alone the trot. A full-seat version would definitely have been a good idea. I should have gotten the Windpro ones instead.
By the way, Dover was very helpful when I returned my too small in the calf Fusion boots. The rep. asked for my calf size and said they would adjust the size charts correspondingly.
I have the full seat wind pro’s and they are great.
Delicate question!
Please tell me what brand of panties you wear that don’t have a crotch the width of a ruler?!! Regardless of brand or size I find in the local stores, the crotches are so narrow they chafe when riding (and sometimes walking!). I guess the manufacturers are saving fabric by using the same crotch pattern for petite size thongs all the way up to super plus sized women!

Have you tried the stores for plus sized women? Places like Avenue and Lane Bryant should have good panties in appropriate sizings.
Other news: I bought a vest at REI, a black Marmot vest, and it was a little pricey, $100, but it is super warm, and their XL is actually an XL, plus it has nice polar fleece elastic panels in the sides so it stretches. It is a much thinner and sleeker vest, and it is incredibly warm! Here is the link:

Also, I bought long underwear at REI and midweight stuff is great! I think I bought XLs for top and bottom, and they fit great! They even have plus sizes in some of their items, not sure what, but I sure it is online.
Fruit of the loom cotton panties are nice. about 2 ruler’s width. I like the high cut.
I second that!
Don’t bypass the Just My Size undies too.
There’s a good reason why Jockey underwear has that particular brand name, as far as I am concerned…
Cacique is Lane Bryant’s lingerie line. All their panties have a wider crotch. I am a great fan of their cotton “hipsters” which cost about $25 for five. Sizes start at 12 and go up to about 28 or so.
I hate FTL undies. Not stretchy enough. I used to have a lot of them, but I hate that the elastic is the only stretchy part, so either they are big enough to fall down, or small enough to stay up but the elastic digs in.
Lane Bryant has some good ones. I like the cotton hipsters because the briefs come up to, like, my bra. Lands End has some similar ones with less elastic-y elastic, which is good for comfort and not causing lines, but bad for staying up under breeches. Just My Size had some Bali brand ones that were about like the Lands End ones but maybe a little cheaper?
I also recently bought some men’s boxer briefs at Target, but the jury is still out on whether I can stand them in general, and I haven’t had a chance to ride in them at all.
Junonia.com has some ultra-comfy wicking briefs, but they’re like $15 a pair! So I only have one pair.
ALLLLERRTTTT!!!
RJ Classics Hunt Jackets in Plus Sizes (and they run true!) on Ebay right now, starting at $1 at Equus Now. GO ROSE!!!
I covet me a green one… alas, can’t justify it right now… :sigh:
Where is the RJ Classics website, so I can look up their sizing chart rather than the one put out by the various tack stores that sell their apparel? I know I’ve seen it, but it doesn’t seem to be bookmarked, sigh.
silly me, used the search function, all is well.
For underwear, check out REI, Title 9, or other sporting goods stores. I swear by my Cool-max undies… never chafe, wider than a ruler, and moisture-wicking fabric.
Carousel makes custom tights and breeches for almost any size… tall, short, thin, round, high or low rise…

I believe they will also ‘cut down’ and re-size your tights for a small fee should you lose some weight. They replace seats and knee patches for a nominal fee too.
UnderArmour undies. None better in any weather.
Expensive, yes, but worth. every. penny.
I also vote for the FTL’s… I am glad this has not turned into the thong debates that have ensued on this board…
I just got my Nittany boots that I have been longing for… well, good news and bad… good news I was able to get them on, bad news is they were actually too BIG! That never happens to me! I am very pleased with the color (they are BROWN) and would make a great boot for someone. Off to ebay they go.
THANKS EVERYONE for the great suggestions! Off to panty shop shortly!
This thread is starting to cost me real money!
Thanks to this thread, I am now the happy owner of the Irideon Wind Pro 3 Season knee patch breeches. OMG I love them. I have always been a jeans person when riding, but I found these breeches to be warm and comfortable to ride in as well as just the right amount of stickiness. And, I was able to buy them in plus size from my local tack shop! Thanks everyone who recommended them, and if you don’t have a pair, go get one, they are great.
And, FYI I have found that nothing really sticks to them. I was playing with my dog while wearing them, and the hair and dirt just brushed right off of them, how sweet is that!!!
