Womanly-sized riders, unite!

I am glad this has not turned into the thong debates that have ensued on this board…

Now really, did you think that would be an issue with THIS group? I can guarantee we sepnd most of our lives trying to keep underwear OUT of those places… :o

I hope-hope-hope someone is snatching up those RJ Classics jackets. Unbelievable deal, and fabulous cut and fit.

VTO has some Harry Hall fullseats on clearance $40/pair, and if you put “holiday” in on your order, another 5% off. And they go to 38L!

Although I personally haven’t ordered from her (yet…), I’ve heard recommendations from others. Evelyn does custom tights, etc. the way you want them, in your exact size (or a bit bigger when desired) and in all kinds of cool colors and patterns. Maybe check her out as an option: http://www.justforhorsin-round.com/products.htm[/QUOTE]

I love this lady! She is sooo sweet and nice! I’ve bought all my tights from her at my endurance rides!

I have a 36" inseam, as well, and they’ve always fit me.

Just in time!

Nice, I just ordered a pair! I am a sucker for a great deal on full seats!

Hi there! I just came across this great thread. I’m so happy to know that other riders share my same issues

I noticed in the last few pages you guys were talking about Wellies. Does anyone know if the women’s sizes of Hunter Wellingtons actually fit a big calf? I would love to a pair of pink ones, but I don’t know if they would fit a 17.5" calf. If they don’t I guess I can go with men’s in navy or green, but I sure would like some in pink.

wellies, and a reply to eggbutt’s “delicate question”

ScottsdaleHunter–

Welcome to the best thread on COTH! (See my signature–we have a clique as well as a thread and I hope you will join!)
I also hope someone can answer your question about the pink wellies–I’ve wanted some pink ones ever since the last time I was in England and saw some in London.
Mine are green and they fit me very well (I got them at State Line in PetSmart), but their lining has already started to wear out, and I don’t think they are available in pink. I hope the Hunter ones are made better.

Eggbutt–

I just saw your question, and I went and measured the crotches on all my panties. I have 3 styles of Hanes Her Way and one of Just My Size (which happen to be my riding panties). The Just My Size ones have the widest crotches of the four styles. They’re the all-cotton hi-cut (high-leg?) style and they came in a package of four in various colors at Wal-Mart. I buy all my panties at Wal-Mart.

(Sometimes this thread makes me feel like I’m back in the girls’ dorm at college. )

Thanks for the warm welcome and I am happy to be a part of the Womanly Riders Clique.

I am in the process of reading through the nearly 50 pages of info. I have found a bunch of great links in the previous pages. It’s nice to see women finding riding clothes off the rack these days. I am used to buying custom and it’s refreshing to find non-custom items, at non-custom prices.

I do have a question. I am looking to get a new pair (or two) of show breeches for our up coming winter circuit. I want a traditional (Tailored Sportsman looking) breech. What about these Equissentials? Is the fabric comparable? Or Elizabeth G (I think, I don’t feel like searching)?

As for the Hunter Wellies, I might also add that I wear a size 10 in the foot. If that makes any difference in the calf in those. Just thought I’d throw that in there

Welcome, Scottsdale Hunter! I decided today to break down and finally make myself a pair of polar fleece tights. I have all the stuff…wish me luck!

Hi, no, I think the Hunter brand wellies run skinny. I could never get them on my legs. I prefer the Target brand, and with so many fun colors, there’s sure to be a style that suits you. Right now, my calf is 17+ and I wear an 9 in those. My normal foot is 8, 8-1/2 but I bought them big to a: accomodate my calf, and 2: to allow for thick warm socks. There’s a a little room for jeans too. You should be fine in a 10.
Just came across this post in GIVEAWAYS!!!
someone is GIVING away 2 ENELL size 8 bras!! here’s the link!http://www.chronicleforums.com/Forum/newreply.php?do=postreply&t=126091

Scottsdale, IIRC the Tailored Sportsman front zips go up to a size 38L. Not sure about the side zips.

I would really like to get some more side zips. I saw that VTO has custom 2-way and 4-way TS looking breeches. I’m thinking I may give those a try.

This sounds like my kinda group, however, what if I just have a really large BUTT!!! yep, that’s womanly enough for me --there she is ol’ wide breeches—so, let’s get on that broad back pony and go for a RIDE!

wide calf Wellies

Shopping for Wellies for #1 kid, I came across this: http://www.wellie-boots.com/usmofcart/leisure.html Note that they offer a ‘wide calf’ version (fairly far down the page).

Regarding Tailored Sportsman breeches… depending on your build you might want to try the men’s version. They come in much larger sizes… at least to 44 I think. I have no hips so the men’s breeches always fit me better anyway in TS. I prefer my Irideon’s though. SOOOO COMFY!

Thanks for the link, but the wide calf in a size 10 is 16.5" :frowning: Damnit… They even have Fuchsia!

They won’t have fucia, but I think the men’s sizes have wider calves…

Hey, Harry Hall fans, these 38s are really cheap:

I have a couple of pairs of those HH britches. They are gorgeous (way prettier than white) and really comfortable. I wear a 16 or an 18 in jeans, and mine are a 36 and more than big enough.

Half chaps, the empty part of the table

I was looking at TOTD today with the Lende half chaps listed and was again
struck by the blank part of the size table. You know, the part where the
height is small but the calf measure is near the largest listing. Has anybody
seen off the rack chaps with a 14" height and a 17" calf measurement?

No, the Equissentials are not like TS or any other breech. The Equissentials are more like tights (they really are tights, although they can make them with belt loops and zipper and snap). The Equissentials don’t hang loose anywhere on your body, and the material is a stretchy material with a lot of give. If you truly want a traditional look, they probably are not what you want.
