Womanly-sized riders, unite!

RJ classics and /or Ovation dressage boats

I’m thinking about getting a backup dressage coat, one that is part wool and not as hot as my 100% wool Elite. Does anyone have an idea of how the sizing on RJ Classics…or Ovation runs? My Elite is a 24 and on the big side(the Dover catalogue says order 1 or 2 sizes up for them).

I should have tried them on when I was in the States for Christmas.

Thanks in advance.

The RJ Classics run true to good American regular clothing styles. If you take an 18, buy an 18. I’d dare say they even run a tad generous.

They area amazing, and I regret I couldn’t buy an RJ on clearance at Equine Affaire. BUT–I have my heart set on the plum lined shadbelly.

Criss, sorry about the Brit Riders. Mine fit, and are awesome to ride in… but have separated at the seams after just 2 seasons. I used shoe Goop and now they are dry, if very, very ugly. <shrugs>

The OLD style Mountain Horse winter boots (not the Ice Riders) come in up to a 17" or so calf, with a little expansion there. I find the ankle is the issue though, not so much the calf. They’re not all that tall either. BUT–they are WARM.

If you can find them, Dafnas are pretty generous, and you can leave one of the velcro straps undone if they don’t all do up. I have to leave the second one (bottom of the calf) undone.

Thanks, Pintopiaffe! Good luck on that shadbelly with the plum lining! Sounds absolutely gorgeous… Plummy in fact

Hm. The Brit Riders work for me, but I don’t find them warm enough.

I tried on Dafnas years ago, and wish I could find them again, as they seemed warm, and the calves did actually fit.

Has anyone ever ridden in the equissentials? If so, do you like them, and are they show quality?

Im sure that there is probably something in this thread about them already, but with almost 1000 posts, im too lazy to read back!

Thanks!

ACK…HELP!!!

It has been 10+ years (and I stopped counting the lbs a few years ago ) since I last showed, and I need to rebuild my show wardrobe.

I have the boots and breeches covered, and will be getting a jacket from RJ Classics.

I wear a 16 in womens clothes, but I have no idea what size show shirt that equates to anymore… what size would that be in the show shirt world?!

OOOOOOOO…rust breeches are back??

Cool. I still have my pair from the early 1980’s. I am going to have to dig them up and see if they still fit:yes:

My blue jacket with the velvet collar is still hanging in the closet too.

My favorite pair as a child were my trainers hand-me-down rust breeches I was so sad when I outgrew them. :frowning:

I had asked the same thing awhile back. I guess they are true tights, not show/heavy fabric.

Tropical riders makes show breeches, with deerskin full seats. ( or hunter style side zips too! ) they do them as custom and stock, and are made in Fla.
I prefer them for the fit.
I wear their clarino full seat tights, and have not been able to destroy them yet.

Question about breech sizes (since I seem to be that oddball size between kids and ladies depending on the breech)

What size is 24 in breeches relating to regular clothes?

Thanks

tiny.

:sigh: I have the body of a twelve year old boy… I know thirteen year olds with more on their chest and hips than me.

Come on Sassenach! You have to rub that in on a womanly-sized rider thread?

I would get thee to a tack shop to try breeches on… different makers have different fits and it depends on how generous your pocketbook is too.

I’ll go crawl in a corner now because I am nowhere near a size 24.

Not as fun as it sounds when you get told to go to the children section to find clothes that fit.

Wouldn’t have minded inheriting my mommy’s boobs and hips.

Can I say thank you for this thread? Been sending links and stuff to various friends and family who are thrilled to find stuff they can wear

I have a black pair of equissentials, and they are a nice thick fabric. They are my nicest breeches at the moment. I wouldn’t be embarrassed to wear them to a show! (my discipline=dressage)

They are the most comfortable breeches I’ve ever worn!

Equissentials work as a recognized show breech with a jacket - not so much at a schooling show without a jacket. No belt loops or fly means the top of them look better covered up. However, if you are showing in a jacket, they are fine. And the eggshell color is a nice alternative to glaring white for dressage shows.
