Womanly-sized riders, unite!

Check out to see how high the Hispars come up. I also have a very long inseam - can’t remember how tall the boots are and I have them down in the car - but when I first got the Hispars, they kept hitting the sensitive part at the back of my knee and they are cut with a good Spanish top.

Somewhere in the recesses of my mind I remember a boot company that does 'em tall.

Yes, they DO get the job done under the whites…however…

Don’t wear 'em on a hot day, because sweat + nylon = Those babies can draw blood if they crease up and rub you the wrong way. Had a bad experience with them last summer and now the dilemma between looking good and feeling good is tougher than ever!

I wear a wal*mart knock off of the spanx capri length, and they do help smooth things out. As mentioned before though, don’t let them bunch anywhere b/c you will be in PAIN.

I used to have a pair of under breeches by 1824 that were coolmax material and were great in the in the summer and winter keeping you cool or warm, b/c of the wicking properties, and were great at smoothing everything out. I have been looking for another pair for ages as the spanx-type things are great, but not truly designed for a rider (i.e seams on the inside and such). If anyone knows where to find things like that now, please let me know.

You wanna 'splain? You might get more interest (from me, at least!) if I had the foggiest idea what you were talking about…

I want to know, too! I really want a dressage coat but don’t want to spend an arm and a leg for it. I usually need a 10 street size in blazers - I have broad shoulders, ample chest, small waist and not small hips or hiney. I am also short (5’2). Any short hour glass figures out there with dressage coat suggestions?[/QUOTE]
I got a decent beginner dressage outfit from vtosaddlery.com for under $200. Not the highest quality, but it does fine for now until I can afford better.

Are you still wearing your Hispars?

Tell me more! Was this just the coat? Or did you get breeches, too? I am on a quest for breeches that really DO hide cellulite. I prefer low rise because regular rise ends up hitting right below my boobs. NOT pretty. How is sizing? I typically wear a 30 in Riding Sports low rise, Med in Iridions. I do NOT wear a 30 in Tailored Sportsmans. I couldn’t even get those past my thighs and I didn’t even WANT to know what size I would have to wear .

That was for coat, breeches, and shirt. I got the same size I wear in everything else and everything fit.

The same size you wear in everything else as in riding clothes, or as in street clothes?

HISPAR’S

I tried them on and liked them, so I am going to order a pair.

Was wondering where everyone got theirs?? I hate ordering things from websites I am unsure of!

Thanks! PM me if its easier.

Got mine on ebay, still haven’t gotten around to sending them back (bad me!). They are about a mile too tall, which would be bad enough, but there is no way on this earth I could get those things on with or without zippers, despite the fact that I carefully measured and looked at the size chart. I have about 18.5" calves, and there is just.no.way. despite what the size chart says, though I know they do have one size wider than what I ordered. The foot fits fine, though (9.5 I think? I know I ordered a half size larger than what I “actually” wear b/c they don’t seem to have a wide foot option).

Still wear mine; got them from the eHimalaya people on eBay. I never use the zippers, I just pull mine on.

Do you have a link to their store? sigh the closest currently listed is about an inch short in the calves, from horse-rider-etc.

They have one in my size! thank you!

Sigh, Twnk, that’s what I was afraid of–no chance of that coat fitting me. I still haven’t found a coat. I may just make my own. I am short, have wide hips and shoulders, but have a small waist and no boobs to speak of. So everything either hangs around my torso like a garbage sack or else the vent gaps and the sleeves strain at the shoulder seam.

Of course, i still have no tall boots, so I won’t be going to a show anyway, so I guess I should get on that first. There are more places you can show in tall boots and a polo than in a jacket and half chaps.

Criss you sound just like me. As of a month ago, I had no tall boots, no breeches, no dressage coat, and no show shirt, and was think that nothing would fit me and my large hips and calves, but small waist and chest. I ended up buying the largest size of Hispars, and now I am having them altered to fit by having leather added and removed as necessary. I found that the on course side zips I bought fit great, so I am thrilled about that. As for the dressage coat, I just went into my local tack shop that has their own brand of coats, the Hawthorn line and Libertyville Saddle Shop and found one that fit in less than 5 minutes, and the best part, it was only $135! I am going to pick up a Kerrits ventilator shirt and a stock tie this weekend at another tack shop in my area to complete my outfit. So here is my advice to you:

Buy what fits the largest part of you, and tailor the rest. If a coat fits your shoulders, you can have the rest taken in to make a custom coat, for a fraction of the cost.

If a pair of boots comes close to your size, buy them and try them. If you can almost get them on, just have a zipper put in, or have them modified by a leather repair place. It may seem like it costs a lot, but it will cost a lot less than custom boots, but will fit like them, and in a lot less time.

Good luck with your search. I am sure you can find what you need for the show season if you look hard enough!

Try RJ Classics for coats. I really like the one I got–granted it was a hunt coat, not a dressage one, but they have those too–in up to a 24. They’re measured in street clothes sizes, and run true, which is awesome. http://www.rjclassics.com/
