Womanly-sized riders, unite!

I had to post that I bought a pair of the hispar’s and they were not correct on the foot size at all. I got a 7 wide and could not even get my foot into them. I generally wear a 6.5c
I also tried another company on ebay and had a horrible time, the boots were custom and came with two different foot sizes that were as close as I can tell a 5 and a 5.5? really weird. ended up challenging them on my credit card because they acted like they could not speak english at all. So I would say, oversea’s may be cheaper but it’s horrible trying to get problems taken care of. Thank god discover card finds it that way also.

I do have a semi custom pair that I had gotten from 18-24 back in 98, they were absolutely great, unfortunately they are wearing out and can not find anything else to fit.
I did also try the new Mountain horse boots, they have a wide range of fit due to alot of elastic in the back. I couldn’t get them zipped, right past my ankle…sigh. looked like the calf would fit, thought it really weird that it would be so tight in that area.

For breeches I like the Tempi’s from Dressage ext. Also got a pair of the FITS breeches with the very different full seats and I LIKE THEM. Didn’t realize a lot of the tightness I felt in the full seat was not from the material but from the full seat not stretching. Can’t bother not getting leather full seats, everything else wears out too quick. Would rather pay $200 for something that I still use 5 years later than have to rebuy in one year
Tropical riders are worth the money also. I did not like the ElizabethG even when custom ordered and I had more success with the Equissentials off the shelf than when I had them custom made(go figure that one) I really like the Arista breeches, have 4 pairs of them that are going strong and almost 10years old. Best to get them at Rolex the first day of sales when the shops have all the ‘odd’ sizes out on sale to clear them out.

I’m still happy with my Equitector dress boots from the UK. I ride in them everyday during the riding season and they are comfortable and have worn well. Fit up to a 18 1/4 inch calf and come in short and regular. The company has very detailed size charts.

Price-wise, they cost me about $500 Canadian including shipping and customs (the initial cost wasn’t too bad but the shipping and Canadian customs duties were a killer).

I’m planning to get a second pair for showing as I bought the short and they ARE a little short.

A New Perspective

My new Dover catalog just came, and last night I was looking through the pages of breeches, thinking about which ones I would buy if I were tall and slender with lovely long rider’s legs. The plaid breeches, the check ones, the burgandy ones, and the lovely white Pikeur full-seat ones.

And then I suddenly realized I’d been doing this browsing backwards. I’d been looking at the breeches thinking “If only I were the right size for them.” It was one of those turnaround, wake-up moments. Suddenly, instead of looking at the breeches wishing I were the “right” size, I started looking at them as if they were the right size. And I realized how it must feel to be able to turn page after page of a catalog displaying breeches and feel that I could order any pair on any page because every single pair came in my size.

It really made a difference to my perspective. I no longer felt like I was standing out in the street with my nose pressed against a store window, unable to go inside because I wasn’t the right size for the clothes. It is the clothes that aren’t the “right” size. I mean, I can find pants to fit me in other kinds of catalogs, catalogs that sell non-riding clothes. I can find pants to fit me in stores. Why can’t womanly sized women look at horsey catalogs and see page after page of breeches the right sizes for us?

There is a whole world out there beyond the horse world where womanly sized women go around dressed well, without having to have our clothes custom-made. When we look at horsey catalogs we ought to find page after page of breeches, tall boots, shirts, jackets, and underwear, to fit us.

I would love to see a catalog of only–or at least mostly–clothes in the “right” sizes (sizes to fit us)!

Looks like they heard us about the ankle sizing. No poofy ankles on those, lol.

I wholeheartedly agree! We used to have one, 18/24, but they were bought out by Equestrian Collections. EC has really reduced the sellection for the big girls, and there’s no more custom boots or chaps. The 18/24 boots and chaps were actually afordale too.

ooooh the green one I want is on sale!!! have to get it! :D:yes:

time to borrow moms credit card, since mine has such a low limit and I cant fit it on there

does she not charge for shipping?

I bought a shirt in size 42. I am hoping that it will fit! Im kind of nervous but I guess I can just sell it if it doesnt work. I also bought a Coat in size 24. Im hoping that will fit as well! If not it will go up on e-bay!

Ive never really tried on RJ stuff before.

You will love the RJ stuff, I do, in fact, I own a lot of it. I always buy from Robin, she is great to deal with - and, yes, you are right, no charge shipping, who does that?

I really like the de Kunffy quote in your signature line.

Thanks! I have to admit though, I found it on a piece of tack, lol. Treadstone bridles has it (or at least did in 2005) on their tags . I saw it and it just struck me as so true. I’ve used it on my board and email signature lines ever since! lol

I do like deKunffy though. I have a couple of his older Dressage books in my library.

Arete Saddlery now has a new type of half chap that I am longing to buy!

Plus Size:http://www.aretesaddlery.com/tack/apparel/chaps/iberian-ii-plus-sizes/prod_218.html
Regular Size:http://www.aretesaddlery.com/tack/apparel/chaps/iberian-ii/prod_217.html

Someone please buy them and tell me how they are![/QUOTE]

So I bought them myself b/c I needed some nice, wear w/breeches half chaps, and I like them a lot. They are a little tall for me, but when they get a little more flexible, they will be great. My only complaint is that the elastic is a little too long, and I am going to have to sew it up so that it does not flap under my paddocks. However, the quality is really nice, and the logo is not noticeable at all. The ankle is quite trim, and has a sleeker apprence than the older model and is cut high enough that I can wear spurs and the chaps will not interfere. Overall, I really like them, but the real test will be riding in them. I am sure they will feel like new tall boots for a little while as the soften behind the knee, but I like the way they look, and they fit well. Clear to buy!

All the clearance is now listed on the site, much easier to navigate, whoever suggested that to Robin, thank you, thank you - not that she didn’t get back to you via email, but you wonder what got sold while you waited, more coats marked down - I got my navy, marked down to $100 - that’s it! No more! But, I can’t seem to make myself stop checking it out. My favorite - www.thecollectiononlinetore.com - thanks to Palomino Morgan and Pintopiaffe.

Well ladies

I got my RJ Classics coat size 24 and it fits well! I was really happy that it fit considering I ordered it w/o trying it on.

Unfortunately the RJ shirt I ordered doesnt fit (size 42) its too tight in the chest for me. I can get it buttoned If I wear 2 sports bras and a tight tank-top. not worth it!

I have to find a place to sell it. Im sure I can get what I paid for it at least!

Bump!

The collection has more shirts on sale! $35!

www.thecollectiononlinestore.com

Alert! Alert! Tack of the Day has Outback vests and shirts up to size 3X! Only through noon (Eastern time) on Thursday.

Just letting people know that I put some “womanly” clothes on the Bits and Barter Forum… I am going to vet school in the fall and am desperate for some income.
