Best of Luck! Sorry you are going to sell your things, but just think of all you can buy when you finish school and start a practice. I’ll let some “big chicks” know that there will be things on that forum.
Does anybody know of retailers for Fuller Fillies in North America? I just saw their pink full seats and I am in LOVE! (well, that and their 4-way coats, and their other stuff, and…) We have a retailer up here in ON who is getting their line in soon…just thought I’d ask if anybody else carries them.
Thanks!
Dee
Is that the brand name? Altho I can’t imagine my butt in a “pink” full seat - (Like a billboard) - I would be interested in what they have. We larger riders have so few avenues of products that I would even recommend it to my favorite store. Robin tries to add what we need, we wanted breeches to size 42, she is having them made. I’ll check around.
Here’s the link…
Yes, I know I would probably look like the world’s largest cotton candy puff, but still…

and in pink…

It`s just nice to find ANYTHING in plus sizes, so you can understand my reaction to COLOUR!

So I’m going to Holland in two weeks to see the family and friends, and an entire day has been set aside for Orgiastic Bliss Tack Store Experience. Alas, they seem not to have figured out that there are Plush Dutch, but I remain hopeful! Then again, not that I need another pair of breeches, but still. I think Oliver will come out of this with the most new “stuff” (for if you are buying it for the horse, it is the horse’s thing, and you have not bought it for yourself and therefore can justify continuing shopping, LOL).
some of my favorites…
i recently found this thread and i think it’s GREAT!! lots of useful info. i wanted to share a few items i’ve found that i really enjoy.
-
Kerrits cargo tights, knee patch flow rise. i got a size 1x. they are super comfy! i could probly wear a reg xl in them (i’m 5’7" and size 18 pants). i love the pockets, deep enough that my phone stays in while i ride, give a bath and move jumps, but not so deep u cant get it out when u need to. the griptek knee patches are SUPER grippy and the full seats would really be too sticky to use for any posting or 2 point, but GREAT for sitting trot!! lightweight but not too clingy if u know what i mean =)
-
Mountain Horse High Rider tall boots. i got these instead of the Sportive ones cuz the calf runs a bit bigger. i LOVE these!! the are more comfy to walk in then some of my tennies!! the foot seems a tad big (i ALWAYS wear an 8) but it does leave room for a pair of thick socks in winter. they fit my calves great (17") and could go a little bigger.
-
VTO brand breeches (www.vtosaddlery.com). i have 3 pairs in 2 diff styles. the reg ones go up to a size 36 which fit me perfect. the lowrise go up to a 34 which fit a bit snug. they are a bit heavy weight so they do hide any imperfections u may have and even the snug ones still hide. i find i HAVE to roll the reg rise down or they could double as a bra!! they are really great quality for the price $34.99. and lots of colors to choose from!

i have a Tuff Rider show coat in a size 18 that fits over my 38dd chest!! it is snug across the bust, but not busting at the seams! so long as i wear 2 bras (almost always do when i ride anyway) it fits good.
not just for womanly sized riders, but a few other things i really like. the Roma open front jumping boots, front and hind, just as nice as Eskadrons for a fraction of the price (i paid $52 for front, back and shipping). WONDERFUL buy! OH, i just got a new saddle, Marcel Toulouse Premia, and i’m loving it. only had about 3 rides in it but it’s great!
ok i guess thats all for now, i hope i can help somebody else in finding a great product that FITS!!
I have some irideon breeches that come in larger sizes. I also own several pairs of Tropical Riders that I have had for years that they custom made for me at no extra charge, and a pair if Equissentials, but I like my tropical riders better.
Also own the MH Sportive boots, newer version. I have a 17.5" calf with a size 11 foot and they fit me well.
Just got my first RJ Classics coat (recommended by many folks on this thread) and I love it! It fits so well…no binding or holding my breath or anything…it’s GREAT!
You better email Robin - she just sent out an email alert on mens and womens stuff - it is incredible!
Big Thumbs Up: Irideon Cadence Full Seat Breeches!!!
I bought my first pair of Irideon breeches over the winter (Wind Pro Knee Patch) and I was thrilled with them. So now that spring is here, I decided to splurge and get the Cadence Full Seats in Indigo (Navy). I cannot describe how much I love these breeches. They are so comfy and easy to ride in, and feel like a second skin. The ribbing on them is flattering and the material is easy to brush off and stays looking clean even when I am brushing off a muddy pig of a horse. I also love the material of the full seat. The chamisoft material is sticky and at the same time, does not hinder my jumping like some other full seats, which is why I can jump in them. I have other full seats where I feel like I cannot move, which is good on jumpy horses and lower level dressage, but these allow me freedom and stickiness all at the same time. I would recommend these emphatically to everyone looking for full seats in plus sizes or regular. Go Irideon!!!
How high do they go in waist sizes, might be worth a look-see.
Their sizes are Ladies S(4-6), S-Long, M(8-10), M-Long, L(12-14), L-Long, XL(16-18), XL-Long. Also 1X(16-18W), 2X(20-22W), 3X(24-26W) with corresponding pant sizes.
Designer Clothing for the Curvier Rider
I understand from a friend of mine in the U.K. that this woman designs a beautiful line of clothing for the curvier rider. She is based in England, but I believe she will ship anywhere (you can always ask!).
p.s. I have no interest or connection whatsoever to this company, but the lady has posted this in our community and I thought it would be helpful to post her link!
Another dual “thumbs up!” for the Irideon Cadence Full Seats… wooowoo! Very forgiving of our natural imperfections, and they hold up to washing and wearing great.
As for the sizing… I have found that if you are sort of on the middle of two sizes… size up. (ie, if you wear 18/20 - go with the 2x) They DO stretch over time, but the seat, not so much.
That said, I’m getting ready to place another order for these babies… black/blue for schooling, and whites for shows. Can’t stress how much I LOVE these!!
I agree, Cadence breeches are GREAT! I also agree they run a bit small. I wear a 22/24 in jeans, and the 3X knee patch fit well, but the 3X full seats are snug ;).
For schooling and trails, I REALLY like my Smooth Stride pants. The XL trail pants were almost too big! lol The jeans are supposed to have blue denim available soon, and XXL, which will fit like the XL trail pants. I can’t wait!
I agree with the sizing in the Irideons–I’m best with a 1X in the knee patch and a 2X in the full seats. But I have to admit my full seats have become my default breeches this winter because all the suede seems to provide enough warmth. I’ve got white for dressage shows, the willow (puke green/tan) for huntery stuff and the dark blue for everyday. They wear better and are more cost effective than other full seats I’ve bought and they don’t stretch out.
I’ve read a lot of this thread – many pages! – but I didn’t see if anyone knew of shorter dress boots or half chaps for fat calves? I really don’t have the money for custom dressage boots or chaps.
My calves are only 15" long and I need a 17" calf.
Sigh. I SHOULD have been 5’ 6", but noooooooo. Thanks to family heritage my legs are 2" too short for my body.
Eileen
You might try the Arete synthetic chaps. The brown (CLICK) are on sale for only $30 and the Large height is only 16". Since they’re synthetic, the extra 1" shouldn’t bother you.
Or, go with Treadstep. They have a LOT of calf width and height combinations. (CLICK)

Have you tried Tredsteps for half chaps? I’m 5’1" with a 16" calf, and their chaps fit me perfectly (and aren’t baggy in the ankles!). I actually had to get a smaller size than I thought, so if you can, try them on in a store. I have the Xtreme, if that helps.

I looked at their size chart, and they do come in 15" height/ 17" calf!

I just joined this group and am reading everything from page one. I am up to page 27 and have at least two handwritten pages of note, websites, etc! I LOVE this group.
Living in Arizona, I am very interested in cool clothes… The heat kills me!! Has anyone tried the Coolmedics products? I bought one of their woman’s vests, but cannot close it around my gut… I thought I would try the waist belt thingy. Has anyone tried them? or knows how to figure out sizing?
Not only do we have problems for womanly figures, does anyone but me have problems for those of us who are also short? My breeches all bunch up around my ankles…
Last comment - and then I can go back to catching up… I used to ride an arabian gelding who would moan everytime I mounted up on him… (and I was 35 pounds lighter)… He REALLY made me feel bad…
Thanks to all for this great group!!!
