Womanly-sized riders, unite!

So here is my problem…

I wear a size 13 W shoe… and I can’t find that in a boot! Not even a paddock boot!

I’m a larger rider (also tall) and I have big feet to go along with it! I just ordered a pair of those Hispar boots through horse-rider-etc.com and the calf is fine, but the foot is too small! I can’t even get my foot all the way in. They are a size 13, but REALLY REALLY narrow. That makes no sense to me, BTW, because if you have a big foot and wide calf, wouldn’t it make sense that your foot is wide as well?

Any suggestions?

I am new to this COTH thing and I have to say I am so excited about this thread I can’t even tear myself away to go to bed!

I’ve read a lot of this thread – many pages! – but I didn’t see if anyone knew of shorter dress boots or half chaps for fat calves? [/QUOTE]

ProChaps, ProChaps, PROCHAPS!!!

I cannot tell you how happy I am with mine. Love. Them.

Northern Lights, try looking for men’s boots to get the foot width you need. A women’s 13 would be a men’s 10 1/2 or 11. Even when women’s boots come in wide, they are usually C width – way too narrow for me. “Normal” men’s footwear is in D width, which works nicely for me. It’s harder to find a good assortment of men’s riding boots for English disciplines, and they also are more expensive, but it’s worth it to be to be comfortable.

Yes, that would make sense… but the men’s boots are also a lot narrower in the calf. I have a big, wide foot and a long leg and a wide calf… yay for my genes!

Where do you buy them? It looks like you can’t buy them from the site…

Thanks!

Whoops. Sorry. They must have recently changed it.

I got mine through the Cheshire Horse. (They don’t have them on the website, but if you call them they can order for you if they don’t have your size in stock, although I think they had a 15" or 16" tall XL the last time I was there.)

Big Girls Don’t Cry!

Yay! FF is coming to the big N.A.!!! Can’t wait for a real U.S. distributor. Thanks Suz!

Thanks for the links – I’ll check out those sites.

Eileen

Suz, I was thrilled to get your email this morning! I’m off to Holland but will check it all out when I get back. Love your stuff, it’s great.

I have good news!!! (I sure hope Robin doesn’t mind if I spill the beans!!)

I spoke to Robin at The Collection – http://www.thecollectiononlinestore.com/ – and she said the puke-green show quality breeches in sizes 38 and 40 are coming soon!! She persuaded her manufacturer to produce them a bit bigger for the womanly figures in the world. Yay!! Thanks Robin!!

If you sign up for her email list she will send out a notice when they are available. She said it might be in the next few weeks or so. I’m soooo happy to hear this. It’s about time someone produced “show-quality” and colored fabric – not just schooling-style breeches.

Hurry up Suzanne! It is SO exciting, because here in southern Ontario it’s like being in the third world for ANY good horse stuff, let alone plus sized.
Woo!
Dee

I’m coveting the tweed coats… Very cute website.

Thank you so much for stopping by to share the news, and for all you do for us fuller fillies!

The tweed is nice - and it is great to see shops popping up that care about us “big chicks.”

Oh dear, not fun! lol I think you might need to suck it up and go with custom tall boots. You can get them a bit cheaper from Argentine Polo Store. I got a pair from there that weren’t half bad! Go generous with the foot measurements, but pull the tape snug for the calf measurements! The custom ones cost me $340 with shipping. I got Dress boots with full zippers.

Looks like Equestrian Collections has the ProChaps in quite a variety of sizes:

I’ve never tried them, but they look really nice.

I just found a pair of boots that could be close to what you need in stock at www.foxhuntingshop.com if you can manage a 12.5 they have one in stock. Look in the clearnace section.

For anyone else looking…There are 2 brown larger calfed brown boots in the clearance section of that website… I would have gladly jumped on a pair for myself if they fit me, but they are too big in the foot.

Hehe, I’ve been at that tack shop before! ^^ Very nice lady that owns it.

So, I got the new updated sale list from Robin, and many plus coats are on sale! This leads me to this question - will we not have the great selection of show coats for the plus riders anymore? They are all being clearanced out.

I want to buy one, since they are a great deal, and I only have one coat, but I am losing weight (down 45 lbs so far!) and I hate to buy one that will be too big by the end of summer or fall when I am actually ready to show!

Dilemas, dilemas!
