Womanly-sized riders, unite!

LOVE the Hispar customer service! I sent them an email saying they’d sent the wrong size, and they phoned this a.m. to say they would be here on Tuesday; they will send a call tag for the incorrect size.

Good news.

Edited to say that the first pair were shipped DHL from Lahore, and the second pair is as well. I am sure now to be put on some travel watch list for the rest of my life.

What has happened to Equiestrain Collections 1824 Collection?
There is just two pages now?

I was glad to see Dover had quite a selection of plus size breeches!
As for the Irideons, like any other breech, order larger
I luff the full seats…LUFF em!

I think they are sold out now as can’t find them, but last week I ordered a pair of Boink fleece lined tights @ $39.99 on clearance from State Line Tack. All they had was 3X & 4X…wasn’t sure about the sizing—I have a “regular” pair of Boink tights that are an XL and they fit (maybe a bit tighter than the general public would be happy to see me in, lol, but they fit)…I went ahead and ordered the 3X of the fleece lined Boinks—at that price I didn’t care if they wound up being too big! Got them today, and they FIT. Oh so comfy! Can’t WAIT to “christen” them! So just another heads up for sizing comparing regular ones to the fleece lined. Regular/real World clothes pants for me 18-20, depending on brand/style…

State Line DOES still have the Boink Microfleece Turtlenecks on super sale for $9.99 sizes 3X & 4X. I already had one in a 2X, which fit but wasn’t as roomy as I like, so I ordered some of the 3X’s and those are better, but still none too big. They are made to be “close fit”, so don’t order one at your “expected” size and expect to it be roomy. Dang hard to beat them for $9.99 though!

I have a pair of wellies that I can wear with my blue jeans tucked in; I also have a pair of western boots that fit with either thin socks or thick socks.
Both these pairs of boots come way up my calves, as I am sure all of you will know, being familiar as you are with boots.

Now I’m wanting a pair of tall boots. But even the Wide ones I tried on in the tack shop were much too narrow in the calf. I couldn’t get the zipper anywhere near together, let alone zipped up! :frowning:

I wish I could find a pair of tall boots (preferably not zip-up) that would fit my legs. If I can wear wellies and western boots, why don’t English boots fit? Dream boots would be field boots, but as I’m now doing dressage I don’t know if that would be the best style to go with.

Help please!!!

For those of you considering petries (as am I since they come in so many height/width combos) take note that they’re considerably cheaper when ordered from europe. I just paid $239 for a pair of Hampshire model zip dress boots, full calfskin, and they were $28 to ship. I sent my measurements in inches for the shop to figure out for me.

The “Perfect” model boot, which is not easily found here, is about $225, comes in pretty much all the sizes available in the more expensive boots, and is a pretty unique waterproof leather. This may work out for some of you who were considering petries but were deterred by the cost.

Additionally, Pikeur jackets, which are available in up to US size 18 (46" chest, I believe) are substantially cheaper when ordered across the pond. My Epsom coat with burgundy velvet collar and silver piping came to about $250 with shipping, substantially cheaper than the $450 a local store wanted to order that particular style for me. It’s even machine washable!

The Pikeur Diana (which is $410 in the Dover catalog) was I believe $206 plus shipping at the store where I bought mine and goes up to size 18 long.

Men’s jackets, if you’re so inclined, started at about $180 american if I recall correctly.

Alterageous, can you please post your contacts–where you got these?

Sure. The coats came from Amira Equi Ltd- www.amirashop.co.uk.

the boots came from a store in Germany that I will need a minute to come up with a name for, but if you google “petrie perfect” you will get several stores, especially in the UK, that have them for about $225 american.

thanks, that’s awesome!!

Horse & Rider Etc.

I don’t know if anyone has posted about this online dealer or not, but I just found them via a link from another forum here. They carry a number of plus-size garments, including dressage boots!!! I haven’t ordered anything from them so don’t know how good their stuff is, but I wanted to post the link in case anyone else wants to try them.

Thanks for all these links- the least-welcome inheritance in my family is the “Gershenson Ass and Thigh” and guess who got it?

What is the consensus on the custom boots mentioned? I am unfortunately starting to look at custom field boots; I walked out in the field yesterday and realized that the hole in the side of the boots has become, well, a real hole instead of a crack. The boots are several years old and worn daily (although they don’t look it.) So between that and the fact that they are now two inches too short and the low Spanish tops are not flattering to my already-not-skinny legs… it may be time. :frowning:

My problem is that I have disproportionately long lower legs. Think 20-21" long. And while they’re not wide, they’re not skinny either. Basically I look like what I am: a rider who used to run competitively. I think I look better with a higher Spanish top which minimizes the width of my calf. But I don’t have a ton of money to spend. Anyone have any ideas?

MY HISPAR BOOTS ARRIVED! THEY ARE PERFECT! I got them on eBay from eHimalayas. Love 'em.

And the tip re overseas purchases is SO true.

How is the leather on the Hispar boots - was thinking of getting a pair of semi custom ones - since my calfs are too large for the wide and too small for their xw. Also how about quality and comfort. Also are their soles made with rubber treads? Would they make good dressage boots?? Thanks

Coreene, any comments regarding quality, comfort, etc for hispar boots?
