Womanly-sized riders, unite!
so how aabout those Fits breeches how comfy are they?
yeah, those just scream ‘LOOK AT MY A$$’

no thanks!

My next pair is going to be the Equissential half-seats.

I got the email - the Plus Sized Breeches are in at my favorite shop, girls - 38 & 40 - price is $50 less than Equestrian Collection for the same ones. I have needed a great side zip breech, gettin’ one now!

Where? How? Share the wealth! I emailed with Robin about the 38s and last I heard they were not in yet. Are they now on the website???

Coreene – I haven’t but I covet it.

I like it so much that I am considering buying the less expensive one and having a friend’s mom swap the buttons out and perhaps add trim, or having one made, but am having trouble finding someone to make one.

I have a custom made one that I cannot button :frowning: I would like to eventually get back into it, but that may be a pipe dream. So, I am hesitant to plan on the really expensive one now, but I sure do like it!

email her at robinpetix@aol.com she will give you the guff

I know we have covered this before, but what does everyone like in terms of plus-sized hot weather full seat breeches… I would like something for everyday that machine washes. How are the Shapelies…

My Irideon Cadence breeches are great the rest of the year but I rode in them today and I was sweating so much, it felt like I was slipping in the saddle. I was grumpy, so my sensitive mare was extra grumpy. She was sweating almost as much as me, which is rare for her. We were not a pretty sight.

I also have the Greenhawk store brand, which are not as hot as the Cadence, but they bag out badly after one wearing.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, let me sing praises for Equissentials’ Power Tricot breeches. Some people don’t like the way they look, but when you ride in them – in hot, stuffy, sticky, horribly humid weather – you’ll forget all about looks and appreciate the coolness.

I toss mine in the gentle cycle with Woolite or Zero and hang dry.

My second choice would be Tropical Riders Enduracool breeches. They come in beautiful colours and are nicely finished, but I don’t find them as cool as the Equissentials. I get hot VERY easily, so the Enduracools are only good for early spring and fall.

Again, I toss them in the gentle cycle and hang dry.

Try Irideon Issential tights. They are actually quite flattering and SO nice in hot weather! You can find them in plus sizes on Dover and Equestrian Collections. Arete has some “Trail Rider Ultra” pants that come in generous sizes. I have a pair of the tan and they are very nice too! The price is a bit steep, but they wear well and do not bag out. The real suede knee patches SO grippy! lol The material is more substantial than the Issentials, but just as cool. Plus they’re straight leg or boot cut, so quite stylish too ;).

There are some more up there! I bought a pair when they first went online (DARN I should have waited for ebay, lol) and they are great! They were a bit tall, but broke in nicely with some oil at the ankles.

Thanks, Somantu and loves2ride! I think I’ll try a pair of the Equissentials. I have a pair of the Irideon Issentials already, but I really do prefer full-seats.

After what seemed like an endless hunt for tallboots, for my huge calfs.

Mt Horse, love them, fit and look great, and are comfy to boot

W W!
I’ve wondered about Mt. Horse. I like the way they look. Which one did you get and, if you don’t mind, how big a calf do they fit?

Thanks,
Pam

I got the High Rider II’s , they fit my 16 and 3/4 calf with breeches on, no problem. First day I wore them to the barn, the horse I was getting ready for a lesson, took off ( 23 year old mare, go figure) and I had to chase her around the neighbors orchard, forgot I had high boots on, thats how comfy they were first time out!

They fit at the ankle as well, most boots or half chaps that fit my calves float around my ankle. I was so pleased with them, I ordered the Classic High Dress boot too.

I just had to bump this thread up!

I’m a womanly sized rider as well, and last winter I started dressage lessons on my draft cross mare. I desperately needed some kind of winter breech and I found Irideon at my local tack store. They even carried them in plus sizes!

Anyway, we are looking to do our very first EVER show this summer and I can’t ride in my black tights and loose t shirt. Thanks so much for all of you wonderful women who have contributed to this thread! I have found so many items that I had no clue were out there!!!

I only made it through the first 30 pages last night and I ordered Boinks last night, along with the Kerrits Ventilator show shirt! Now, on to find a jacket and boots…

I love this thread, too. Now, wouldn’t it just be the best if there were actually some stores where we could try things on and not have to buy them to try them on, then send them back if they don’t fit?

Pam

I am going to break down and buy a new pair of boots shortly. My one leg gets so puffy in the summer, and the boots just don’t look good enough. I hate to drop 250.00 for a pair of boots, but my comfort is so much more important.

Vespar I have a pair of the shaply full seats they’re ok but heavy I was way to hot the other day in the hazy hot and humid weather we’ve been having. I love my Irideon Cadance full seats wish I could afford more of those.
ApQH years ago I bought a pair of xwide no name boots that I recently brought to the local cobler, had him put a piece down the back to add an extra 2". They slide on and off real nice now. The price was reasonable about $80 and only took a week to get them back. Comfie boots are a good thing!

Thanks, Mag! The only Shapelies I own are my back-up show breeches that I got on sale. They have never actually been worn. White is deadly for me: I managed to get them stained at the store while trying them on from a paper cut on my finger!

Hi all,

Can I share that I love this thread… I think this might be my first post though. My parents just offered to buy me a pair of dress boots to show in for my bithday… I went over to equestrian collections and they don’t seem to carry xxw anymore???

Where is everyone getting their show boots these days short of custom???

THANK YOU!

How big is your calf? There are lots of places out there it just depends on how much width you need.

I’m going to have to remeasure… I’ve been losing weight since I’m riding so often.

My half chaps are 17/18 so I’m rather sure I’m around that. They’re long on me but I had to go that long to get the width.
