Woot! I guess I’d better measure myself again, now that I’ve lost some weight…[/QUOTE]
Darn, they’re too tall…I need 18" height. :frowning:

Having them cut down is one of the cheapest alterations.

I was thinking of getting custom boots from tallyho, how did yours come out?

I sent mine back and got my money back.

I found it for sale here:

And here:
http://www.doversaddlery.com/product.asp?pn=X1-38282

And the price is quite good. $179 (w/o shipping. w/shipping about $198) to $199.95 (free shipping) depending on where you look.

Has anyone tried these yet? How are they?? If I have money left at the end of x-mas shopping I will be buying a pair.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Okay, an expensive one, but worth it. The Ralph Lauren new line of equestrian clothes has a few plush size objets d’art, namely the vest. They run a bit small, but right now they are on sale at Macy’s. Usually only in a 1X and 2X. FABULOUS. I got one for my birthday and nearly peed in my pants, it’s just super. They are now on sale; $113 before you get any of those 20% off coupons from the newspaper. I think they have one on eBay right now as well in a 2X.

You would NEVER wear it to the barn. But you will wear it forever. The zipper and pocket pulls are little brass stirrups.

You could, say, buy it for yourself, wrap it up and put it under the Christmas tree, and make it a present from your horse to yourself.

I bought it!!!

I was in Chicago last week and found that very vest.
The 3x fits me perfectly… and I wore it to the barn today. My horse slobbered on it while trying to get at the stirrup-shaped zipper pull.

Oh Coreene you are sooooooo evil.

I know, but I found it to be my Civic Womanly Sized Duty.

Thank heavens I live in Canada and don’t usually travel to Chicago. It gives me a modicum of protection from temptation.

This may have been answered somewhere in the 73 pages, but where do you all find boot socks for “extra curvy” calves?

Boot socks? I wish. I usually just buy knee socks at Target or Walmart. They aren’t horsey, but they come in stripes and argyle and stuff. And for the record, I can wear size 8 jeans now–and size 30 britches–and I can just barely get the pair of Dublin boot socks I got as a gift years ago over my calves. Forget getting them over my britches! Those thing are cut SMALL.

These fit my peasant-sized “cankles” and calves just fine:

http://www.greenhawk.net/cgi-local/SoftCart.exe/scstore/p-DRC0638.html?L+scstore+bcyl3775ff9f179f+1226021409

But I ended up not using them for riding because they are too pretty. Usually I just put on a pair of regular socks, or Smartwood socks in winter.

That’s pretty much what I figured, but since folks on this thread find amazing things it was worth a shot. Thanks!

I’ve been lurking and reading, but this is my first time posting. Had major (for me) trauma at the tack store today trying to find some breeches. Pretty much all the issues I’ve read about on this thread. They had one pair that fit pretty well, but I MUST have tan and these were a lovely blueberry shade. They could get them in tan in 3 weeks. I need them in one week. There is one other tack store in our area but I won’t be able to get there due to my work schedule.

I’m in semi-panic mode now… Any suggestions for tan knee patch breeches for someone with calves bigger than manufacturers seem to think I should have. And, where best to order them from to get them in a week. I realize I’m looking at extra shipping charges…

Thanks!

Iechris, try www.equusnow.com. They will help you find some and ship them quickly! Good luck!

Though I only wear paddock boots and half chaps, I wonder if the diabetic sox from Walmart might be high enough…

Equissentials.net or tropicalrider.com or saddlebums.com

Equissentials once got a pair of customs to me (from panicked phonecall to my door) in 36 hours. Tropical Rider is similarly helpful. Saddlebums fit great, but I had a rather unpleasant customer service episode with them on my last order, so I’m less enthusiastic about them than I used to be.

There’s a seller on ebay that might have what you need… I linked it a few pages back for rust breeches… I know if you call her she can get a pair out today. I think her auctions are buy it now anyway. Lakeshires are what she has. I think the Lakeshires are out of business so her supply is limited.

I just listed another one of my great plus calf boots for anyone else that might be a 9-1/2 with a 16-1/2 inch calf.
the 10’s with a 19 inch calf are stil;l up for grabs too!
