SmartPak and Fuller Fillies

And it looks like the SmartPak prices for the Fuller Fillies products are quite good! They’re selling the huggy half chaps for less than I paid (I posted about these a few months back. Comfy, well-made – yes, I still like them very much!!).
Hmmm…maybe I had something to do with this. I did urge the management at the SmartPak retail store (I’m there often!) to check out the Fuller Fillies line. BTW, has anyone tried their breeches? Do you like them?
Can you post the name of the store, and a
phone number? If they have a website… BONUS!

SmartPak is now a U.S. distributer for the Fuller Fillies line! They have Fuller Fillies items on their site under plus-size riders. They have also expanded their other plus sized items. Vote with your pocket book and make sure SmartPak knows that you appreciate their changes!!!

Ambrey, or anyone else, how is the quality on those Tough One half chaps? Bad, bad Ambrey for posting this link. Bad! Bad!

Someone had posted some time ago that they were nice… maybe PintoPiaffe?

eta: post 1461 in this thread

Thanks! I bought that pair from her and they are too big for me as well. Someone on here asked for measurements on them, but I forgot who and accidentally deleted PM. They are lovely, but the are too big for me from about halfway down. Lovely quality though, very nice. But of course are still here, in the original bag lol.

Yes, I have a pair!
I have the full seat plaid (though I don’t see them in SmartPak’s selection)…though I haven’t ridden in them yet (just got them), I LOVE the quality and fabric. |They cost me $155 CAD (which is about $110 US). They have velcro cuffs, which on my legs go right to the ankle (and should still work quite well with a paddock boot when in the saddle); nice wide waistband, good closures, and a zip slash pocket. VERY nice for schooling in - I only wish they were “allowed” in the ring! They have browns and blues in the plaid, and are really, really nice. I saw some similar in “regular” sizes for a LOT more money at another tack shop, so the price seemed pretty fair.
I also tried on some of the others (pimple butt, though they apparently won’t be making them any more), the caramel breeches with knee patches as well. I REALLY liked the fleece pullover and the black and white sport pullover, as well.
How about the different jackets - anybody have any feedback on those?
Dee

DeeThbd,
You are evil.:D.
Maybe for my birthday in October. It would make a fabulous hacking jacket when I finally start to foxhunt and I could wear it with jeans, too. I like the green one.

How have you found the sizing of the breeches? Compared to Irideon, say?

Hi,

What are good web sites for half chaps?

Thanks!

I find that they are nice and stretchy and seem to run according to the size they advertise.

THese are WAY nicer looking in real life than you’d expect. I really wanted the full seats because two of my geldings are pretty green, and I need every advantage I can get!
I have never tried Irideons on, but I find the FFs are a kinder fit than my Millers (I have a pair of CR 7s that I got from VTO Saddlery aeons ago). My Millers are too short in the crotch, which makes swinging a leg over interesting to say the least! I need a lot of room in the waist and thigh and these seem to do it.
I am really torn about which jacket to aim toward…I am leaning toward classes on the flat and dressage at the very local level…so would the navy jacket be my best bet, or should I splurge on one of the others?
Dee

Dee,
The navy would be a good conservative choice–OK for hunters and low-level dressage.
They are all so nice–I wish I could afford one of each colour.

Well I got my new boots from hispar. Beautiful…but…they need some break-in time. They are some stiff leather. I was hoping to show in them this weekend and putting my heel down was ouchy. I am still going to get a gusset put in one of the boots. It was a tad snug still. UGH

Just have to vent! I am in the losing weight battel, and have dropped over 20 lbs, well I tried on most of my old breeches and they fit, most are 34s, so my horse and I are going to a show in may so I thought I would treat myself to some new breeches, sice it has been six years since we showed. Well I have always wanted to nice white breeches with the dark seat, found a pair that was a really great price, they has a 34 ordered them, and they fit like a 30 (maybe a 32), ugh what do these manufacturers have against me!!! (we I know not just me) but you feel like you are doing so good and then this happens. So I decided to not send them back and work my behind off to get in them, I have til may so hopefully I can get in them by then if not I’ll wear my old boring white breeches and shot for the next show. So I just had to vent and I figured you guys would understand the most. Thanks for listening

That was my way of thinking too, Vesper. I DO so love the one with the fuchsia threads running through it - I would wear that to WORK with dress pants!
I tried on some FF breeches at Richvale’s booth at the Royal, but they had a pretty limited selection there. Wonder if they’ll have more this year. My local dealer has offered to order in whatever I’d like to try on, as she’d like to get some feedback from people who are fuller fillies! She has asked me and another rider to sit down with the FF catalogue - that could be very, very dangerous!
Dee

Dee,
Have you seen their winter riding jacket? Looks gorgeous…

It’s not you… it’s the reason why this thread was created. I know we have all been there. it sucks. I have no idea why a 34 in one is different in another especially since it’s a WAIST measurement. who’s tapemeasure are they using anyway???

It’s just rude! I would love for everyone to have a standard measurement, including street clothes. I would love to go to any store and go right to my size and pick up the clothes and not have to worry about if these will fit or not. What a wonderful world that would be and I bet women would be less pi$%ed off all the time.

warning on RJ Classics clothing

OK, so I saw that there was a sale at the classic collection, and I thought “I’m gonna get a new coat and shirt.” The people on this thread have raved about them, and the folks at the local tack store said, “no problem, their stuff runs about a size larger than other brands.” Well, maybe their misses sizes run larger. Their Plus size items do not.
I admit, I did not call them, I figured that they would follow clothing industry guidelines. They don’t. The shirt sizes in their charts are the exact size of the finished cut cloth around the bust. Unlike anyone else in the clothing industry, there is no wearing ease left over from that.
Wearing ease is the extra bit of fabric that is added to keep something from being skin tight. For misses sizes it is about two inches in most clothing that is not knit. In plus sizes the usual wearing ease is about four inches for woven clothing.
Since the sale items are not returnable, I thought I better warn the other womanly riders.

Now see, I think RJ Classics run TRUE to STREET size, and very large for Equestrian size.

I take a 14/16 in street clothes these days, RJ Classics–right on the money. A 20 in an Ovation jacket won’t fit–too small.

The one in pretty colours? If so, drooled all over it at the Royal!!!
Wore my full seat plaids today…though I dont look mahvelous - bad conformation on my part - they were SOOOOO comfy and grippy for my first canter on the Big Horse!!! (I have two Big Horses and one Little Horse :D:lol:)
