Hey guys. It’s the middle of show season and I know it’s always good to have extras and I have a green size 20 Devon Aire jacket just sitting in my closet. It’s not the softest jacket but it’s not doing any good just sitting in my closet. If anyone’s interested, PM me and we can work something out. (:

I am expecting a pair of Harry Halls tomorrow- I hope those don’t run small, all they had was 34s.[/QUOTE]
I have a pair of harry halls that were given to me, and they are 34s- but stretchy. They fit me and I normally wear a 36-40 depending on the brand.
Well, they arrived- I think I’d rather have 36s but they’ll have to do.
Well here I was admiring my muscular calves–toned from riding, running and yoga. Then I measured em–guess the horse world doesn’t quite like people with 16" calves!! Having a tough time finding tall boots or deciding to get my current ones stretched.
Advice? Suggestions?
TBJ- Are you looking for field boots or dress boots?
Fuller Fillies
Had the chance to try on some of the Fuller Fillies breeches at a local tack shop (interestingly enough, not one of the major ones in our area, a little off the beaten path and not one I usually frequent). The breeches were very well made, super comfortable and in a decent price range, so I think I will order some of the plaid ones with the Clarino seat and a pair of white full seats for next year’s show season.
The sizes range very generous–like the Shapelies but more so–so the 36s were slightly loose on me, while I usually take a 38 in most breeches.
They are also getting in a show jacket so I can try that on.
The SMartPak page says order 6" smaller than your waist size, I think! I was surprised by that.
I need wellies
It has finally started raining in my area (good thing) but that means
I need a new pair of rubber boots (not so good thing, hard to find).
So please suggest where I am going to find rubber boots that come
up just under my knees (mud can get really deep here sometimes).
I have a short, wide foot, I wear a US womens size 6 and need at
least XW foot width (XXW is better). The really difficult part is that
I also need a fairly short height. The barefoot measurement from
my knee crease to the floor is 14" (yes, I am very short) and the
calf circumference is 17". So, anyone make boots that are going
to work.
I can cut the height down but if I slit the back to give me room for
my calves, the boots don’t provide water and mud protection to
the knee. These don’t need to be rubber riding boots, just work
boots for around the farm. A deep tread is fine. Modest price is
also good.
^ Have you tried Tractor Supply? I have about a 17" calf and I’ve found some pretty cute ones for cheap there!
Try boys’ boots.
I have Muck Boot knockoffs, made by Columbia I think, which work just fine. The neoprene at the top stretches to fit my hefty calf. About $30. They are also comfy enough to use for extensive walking.

Vesper, you will LOFF the plaids…I have a pair, and they fit great, wear great, and wash great. I’d love to know how the jackets fit…could you PM me when you’ve tried them? My local store will get them in if I would like, but I’d hate to put them to all that trouble and then find that I didn’t like them.

Robin - I think I have your legs. Well, I’d like to – my calves are, ah, rounder, than yours, so I totally understand the challenge! A few years back I got tall Muck books (brand) and while I can stretch them over my calves, it’s an effort. This spring I needed something to ride in and tried the Muck paddock boot. Again, in my shoe size, the ankle was too tight and on a whim I tried the next size up. The ankle worked out perfect and while the foot is a little roomy, I’m not swimming in them.
So I guess my point is, if the the neoprene calf for your shoe size isn’t stretchy enough for your calf, you might be able to go up a shoe size (or 2?) to get the calf size you need without having them feel uncomfortably big on your foot.
windy, aren’t i? sorry.
Before that I had a pair of black rubber pull-overs from fleet farm. They weren’t as tall as you’d like (which is why I went to the Muck Boots) and they actually got sucked off my feet (along with my shoes!) in the mud a few springs ago. The paddock heaved them up about a week later.

No problem! Haven’t heard from them yet at all about availability, so it may take a while.
THanks for the rubber boot ideas posted so far. I tried Muck Boots
and had to have my husband peel them off. They also can’t be
cut down. I have had some luck in the past with going a size up
in boys boots, using a 5 when I would normally need a 4. In the
last year (dang menopause) I not only shrank, my calves got a bit
“rounder” (as Sheri put it) and I can’t get those on any longer.
Wondering if & With Style wears as short of foot as mine (ladies 6)
to get a fit. If I needed a ladies 10, the calf would be plenty wide
but apparently ladies with short feet are not supposed to have wide
feet and calves. Hmm, where do the lady dwarves shop?
I’d consider the boots (even if they are supremely ugly) but they
don’t come down to size 4 which is what I need in mens sizes.
The price is also about 4 times what I generally pay for rubber boots.
Ok Ladies, I have searched this thread some, but…
What are your FAVORITE half chaps? Im looking for somewhat inexpensive, (under $100) nice half chaps that are not only comfy, but LOOK nice.
I ride in my tall boots most of the time, but I am going back to college in the fall, and I want a nice half chap so I dont wear out my boots.
Thanks in advance!
Arete!
