I lost 82 lbs since late June 2008. You’ll have no prob!
OMG!! that’s friggin awesome!! I am down 34 myself! I have a long row to hoe!! :\

Anyone have the fuller fillies half chaps?? How are they??

What about ovation?? Sizing and quality on those?? Perri’s from Maryland Saddlery??

I am looking for a decent pair of half chaps that are somewhat professional looking, under $100.

Arete has the best half chaps.

Ovations boots don’t even come close to fitting me so I know that the half chaps won’t come close.

Have to gloat!

I have been following this thread for awhile now and was always discouraged at the notion I’d be forced to buy cu$tom boots for dressage. Last week I went to my local tack shop and got measured for custom Petrie dress boots - that in and of itself was excruciating! I was told in gentle words my calf size was not to be found in anything off the rack.

I didn’t order and decided I was going to wait a bit (after Christmas and upcoming birthday) in case my husband was feeling generous. Imagine my shock when I was perusing my local Craigslist Farm/Garden and there was the EXACT size Petries I’d been told to order! I met the girl the very next day and the boots fit perfect! They are the Petrie 2000 which I don’t believe are made any longer but they don’t have zippers or gussets so I won’t need to worry about replacing down the road. I rode in them Sunday for the first time and simply love them! They aren’t broken in so the only thing I added was heel lifts. I wear a size 9 shoe and have a 17.5" calf. Miracles do happen!

I need show clothes

:no:So I started riding a new horse and my goal is to show at a Open Benefit Horse Show in October. I tried on some of my old show clothes & surprise, surprise they don’t fit (it’s been 5 yrs & a had baby)

Here is what I need:
-36/38 breeches (preferably Shapely or Figurefit)
-size 20 hunt coat (or equivalent to 45" bust)…I’m allergic to wool; preferably w/ stretch
-ratcatcher/show shirt (45" bust)
-Smart Slims Lrg   (I’ll probably just order these unless someone has some they wanna sell)

I don’t have a lot of $ but you can email me prices/pics at anelson@amfam.com Or if you need a smaller size, I’d be willing to trade/sell:

I have the following:
-NWOT Annie Rider hunt coat (sz 18L, but fits like street sz 14…UK sizing), solid navy color, poly rayon blend; bought on ebay…advertised incorrectly as 20L
-sz 44 RJ Classics cotton lavender ratcatcher w/ 2 collars; longsleeve. (fits me but has gaping bust issue…would prefer stretchy one)
-sz 42 ratcatcher (On Course?) white with gray pinstripes, longsleeve, can’t find collars but I know I have them somewhere.
-34L tan/sand breeches…new, only tried on; Cotton Naturals brand (I think)
-34R dark grey Devon Aire breeches, microrib type, used (slight balling/pilling of fabric & wear marks on clarino knee patches) cotton blend

fyi - just got half chaps from smartpak -fuller fillies - got the faux suede - x-wide- they actually fit and I didn’t have to struggle to get them on - not expensive $45.95 with free shipping - use code MFS79

how is the quality? I have been looking at those. Like them?

Quality is decent - I wish they were a little thicker but maybe because they are not real suede and the faux suede is just on the outside - zipper is a good quality, they have a lot of stretch to them. Overall I would recommend them.

Need a new show (schooling shows mostly) for dressage. Any opinions on the Equine Couture Sportif Technical Shirt carried by SmartPak. How’s the fit?

Equitese, congrats on your boots! The same thing happened to me - I’ve been looking for tall boots for about 4 years, on and off. I am on a budget, so I wasn’t able to buy customs, and anything off the rack or in a catalog is either too short or too narrow. Before I lost 90+lbs, my calves were almost 19 inches. Now they are 17-17.5, which is manageable, but I still needed talls - and you can never find talls and Xwide!

So, I was browsing craigslist, and came across a pair of custom Dehner boots. The owner measured them for me, and it seemed too good to be true - but I agreed to meet her the next day to try them - you know, almost $1000 boots and she wanted $100 for them. When I got there, they fit perfectly! They are in great shape, and I have ridden and shown in them already! I still can’t believe my good luck!

Wise decision TTP

Now girls… I need you all to jingle/pray for me. I am embarking on the journey to dropping 50 pounds. I have no desire to be a stick–just healthier and three sizes smaller.

When I’m there, watch Bits and Barter cuz I’ll be selling the bigger riding clothes :D
Jingles and prayers, ChocoMare. Maybe you will encourage me to keep eating healthier too. I started last night … we’ll see how it goes! I know Blaze will appreciate it, especially as I want to get back to trotting poles and trying cavalletti with him!

So question- english spurs for people with cankles? Even at my thinnest my ankles are thick, and these spurs are not comfy.

I’ve never ridden in spurs, but it is time now for me to start and I’d like some that don’t give me blisters!

Have you tried men’s spurs? The spur really doesn’t sit at your ankle, it sits below. Try men’s spurs and men’s spur straps. I have to use them because my feet are big and the women’s model sometimes doesn’t fit around my boots.

Yeah, but because my ankles are thick, my heel doesn’t really narrow up- so my feet aren’t huge or wide, but the spurs fit in the heel, but further in where the straps are they are too tight. Sigh.

I thought mens would just be too wide.

Can you just bend the spurs? Sometimes you can just bend out (make larger) the part that is too tight

Yeah, I tried- maybe my hubby can bend them for me.

I was actually thinking about getting these, though. They look cool:

A huge thumbs-up for The Collection… Robin, who runs it, is incredible when it comes to customer service. I ordered a black coat that was out of stock, and she followed up immediately and offered a coat (higher end) for 30% off, which made it only $20 more than the original. Needless to say, I was thrilled! She also ships amazingly quickly and you always get what you want exceedingly quickly.

Plus, the prices - omg, the prices! They’re fantastic!

I have a pair of these with the rolly-ball if you want to try them (Yes I finially broke down and bought them.) I can also bend your spurs for you. Its pretty easy. Sometimes fidjeting with the placement can help a bit too.
