Wood chewing S.O.B. wish they'd told me..

this has nothing to do with people who disagree with foxhunting. and there is no shame for the foxhunting community. only your shame!!
this has to do with a selfish person taking on a horse and then deciding they wanted it gone pronto! thats betrayal to your hunting community who let you take on the horse. this is what is so shocking. i would have more sympathy for you if you would keep coming on and saying to each poster, that you understand their points of veiw and you are human and made a mistake.
but like all your problems. you want them whisked under the rug so you suffer no consequences. i think you learned nothing from this escapad.

Feed him wood. As in, literally. Give him a chunk of green wood he can chew the bark off of. I had a horse like this–apparently there was something she needed in the bark. I gave her a pice of green firewood each evening, and by the next morning she had it stripped. She only wanted it in the winter, and she only wanted it for about two years, but it kept her from chewing her stall, and after she didn’t want it anymore, she wasn’t chewing anything. In addition, to prevent chewing on the surfaces I didn’t want chewed on, I would put grease left over from cooking hamburgs, etc. on the wood–worked better than any of the commercial anti-chew stuff. I could even sprinkle a little red pepper on it, but found I usually didn’t need to.

Someone needs to print out this entire thread and give it to OP’s MFH. Her apology is only because she has to, not because she wants to apologize. Her true colors are what she stated before her MFH got involved.

OP belongs in the catagory of elysianfields/bayou bengal and the dog she wanted to have run over, and anyplacefarm with her 2 grey ottb geldings who weren’t perfect Why get an animal when you drive it crazy?

Meanwhile, doesn’t everyone think that OP could drive any saint of a horse to chew wood?

I was up late worrying as well. I am so relieved!
To know that Brownie is somewhere safe and where he’ll have a good job, is wonderful.

I’m not a “save the horsie” type either, but a hunt horse that has given years of service , is kind and still useful, is rather special.

What a relief!

How dare any of you insult my husband.

How. Dare. You.

I am not controlled. I’m respected, pampered, spoiled, loved and provided for. Well. And that’s not a crime, though I while I noticed many of you wanted a “free horse” and thought it was “all about the money” no one ponied up and said, hey, leave him there, I’ll send you 10 new fence boards a week for him to chew up" Hey, it’s not about money right?

I was pissed, I vented, I apologized to the people that deserved it. Some of them even, after I explained the circumstances, accepted my apology. Mine, not my MFHs though had he asked, I would have. He didn’t need to.

So flame on people, make it as personal about me and my abrasive, selfish, callous, spoiled, inhumane, unreasonable self as you want to. I’ve been called worse by better, some of it justified.

Leave my husband and my little “corner of hell” out of it.

You have zero idea how hard my husband works to have and keep what we do.

Zero. Nada. To even begin to suggest that is beyond reprehensible.

You have no idea how much time, effort and yes, money he spends helping sick and injured animals and people or how much charitable work he does.

If I getted drummed out of the hunt, I brought it on myself.

I’ll have a horse for sale.

He’s perfect.

You. Will. Live.

How dare they? Hey, this is COTH. It’s an equal opportunity bashing board.

And - “Husband says Monday.”

It has to do with other people I’ve thoughtlessly pulled into this discussion who deserve better.

I’ll simply politely ask again. Since I’ve rehomed the horse and he safe and sound, this should not be a problem.

Since I’m old and my beloved husband will no longer permit the purchase or even the obtainment of another horse, ever, you don’t have to worry about me.
And this post will live, too, so you can’t change the wording later.

I said I felt sorry for you for having so little say in your own life. I still feel a bit sorry for you. You. Will. Live.

I’m not the one who suggested that eating a fence board was a killing offense.

I’ll be perfectly happy to live my life being ‘lesser’ than you, you may rest easy in that bit of knowledge, ma’am.

The PM you sent me (and I assume others) did not really help your case. To me the sellers do not sound like evil lying horrible people. You can keep trying to make them sound that way, but it is not working with me. It does make it clear that you still feel you are right and are stomping your feet.

It has been asked, you have not answered.

Did you do anything during that week to help prevent the wood chewing? Did you put any chew stopping products on the wood? Did you try a different hay? Anything at all other than the muzzle you have already ranted about?

wow! i usually dont join in on the bandwagon, but this thread has really gotten me pissed off!
why would people pony up the money for your pristine boards? you have just stated that you are pampered and spoiled! you are not running a rescue where you can barely feed starving horses.
i have been following this thread and i read several people wanted you to PM them about the details of the horse so they might take him from you. but you just insisted that you wanted to send him for hound food. then people offered you up suggestions like a grazing muzzle. and it seems like you lied. you said that you contacted the former owners and they said he rips them off. but they seem to have come on and said you did no such thing. you could have bought him a 30 buck muzzle while waiting to rehome him. you did nothing. yes you were angry. i got angry when my old horse was kicking the barn down at a gorgeous facility i boarded at. but i turned my anger into action and spend hundreds of dollars padding his stall so he would not hurt himself. yeah it cost me alot of money, but what could i do? i took on the responsibility of this horse until i sold him. so i did what i had to do. and it seems like you are so pampered that you could afford to do the same.
i hope others learn the lesson from you. that it is appalling to take on a horse and then decide you want it gone just like that. there is a responsibility that you take on until you can find another home.

Glad the horse is somewhere he’s wanted.

Exactly, and that quote was the next line after and presumably reason given, for why OP said the horse was going to become food for some big cats. OP, face it, we on CoTH readership are smarter than average, with very low tolerance for the behavior that you have exhibited throughout this particular thread. Peer pressure exists. Put on your big girl panties and deal with the result of your poor choices of behavior and verbiage.

I don’t believe anyone was asking distinctly for a free horse. If I read correctly people were offering to take Brownie to save him from being put down. Negotiations for reimbursement would have come at a later date if that’s what you wanted.
And he eats just fine… He just chews like someone who has to have that post coitus cigarette…

Boards, top, bottom, center,
posts from top to bottom,
stall anywhere he can reach.

He’s going to be a happy meal for a big cat if I can’t find someplace soon.

My husband says MONDAY.
I decided to quote this before it goes ‘poof.’

It will be a struggle.

But I’ll manage somehow. Thank you for your concern.

Saved for posterity as well.

That is using way too much logic.

Clearly all those people just wanted a free horse because even though the OP insists Brownie is only worth being fed to the hounds everyone else is begging for a free horse when they mention taking him.

I am simply not worthy

of all this attention.

The. Horse. Is. Fine.

He was NEVER going to be a meal for anything or anyone. NEVER>

I WAS PISSED AND FRUSTRATED.

I made an enormous mistake that has been widely misunderstood by my misuse of verbage, retoric, fabrication, imagination any anything else any of you can think of.

My hunt is WONDERFUL

ALL HUNTS ARE WONDERFUL AND FILLED COMPLETELY WITH WONDERFUL HORSES AND PEOPLE WITH INTEGRITY

I am a complete and utter disaster as a hunt member, horse owner and human being. It’s probably a blessing that horses and dogs I’ve owned before are buried on my farm as opposed to remaining with me which clearly would be unbearable for any animal.

To those of you that understand, thank you.
To those of you that don’t, see above til it sinks in.

How many posts ago did you say you were done posting on this thread?

Screaming at us always helps. Thank you.
