Wood chewing S.O.B. wish they'd told me..

Is the horse safe? Did he really go where the OP said he did? I do not think she is a very trustworthy person. I am sorta half sick to my stomach thinking about what happened to him.

Yes, that’s what we would all like to know, for sure, where is Brownie? Very concerning:no:

OP said she rehomed him with a hunt-no evidence that she lied-I don’t think its right to speculate that she wanted him dead. Let’s wait to see what the KY hunting community can come up with. Fingers crossed that Brownie has landed softly.
This is from someone with direct knowledge. Nobody does know for sure what has happened, and at this point, it is all everyone wants to know.

I’m confused by all the conflicting stories. Anyone know someone with the Camargo hunt? Could you ask after Brownie?
I think the OP might be a pathological liar. Many of her other posts sound brusque, grandiose, and exaggerated.
Ding! Ding! We have a winner. Whatever else she is, she definitely is not a horsewoman and I hope she will be ‘disbarred’ or whatever it is called when a hunt drops a member for unseemly conduct. All of you who show in her area, (the website someone linked gave her name BTW) - be on the lookout for any abusive or unethical behavior at a show and run do not walk to the nearest USEF or USDF rep to bust her hiney/get her suspended. Someone like that does not have any business owning animals, of any kind, IMO.

This is worrying…

WHAT THE HELL??
How did you get to this huge leap??

LauraKY-do you have some sort of personal history with the OP?

I SWEAR the tendency of COTH to bring out the tar and feathers/grab up the pitchforks and flaming brands is just unbelievable to me!

(and no-I don’t have any personal aquaintance with the OP. I did attend a driving exhibition at her farm before WEG-which was very generous of her to host the Morgan driving team and allow the public to visit them!)
You read my mind, Skydy.

I was just thinking that with the exception of one other thread, this is about the only super unpleasant thing I’ve seen happen in the Hunting forum. I consider the Hunting section to be sort of the last bastion of horseman sanity.

It’s can be kind of shocking when someone shows you who they really are and it’s ugly.
Raise your hand if you think the OP should be first in line for “hound food.” Gack! The hounds would spit 'er up.
Let’s hope none of them are chewers, shall we?
LOL LOL LOL they might be fed to the hounds if the owner doesnt answer their cell phone right away to get the horse out of her lovely barn.
this whole thing is despicable!

I agree that sbfns post was a bit hysterical.

The majority here are only concerned about the horse, by all accounts a solid citizen (except for wood chewing that occured when he was moved to a new home) and are hoping , since there are people willing to give him a home, that he will not be destroyed.

For a horseperson, the OP displayed an unusual callousness regarding the horse and it IS worrying, to everyone.

No personal history. I don’t like liars.

This. I don’t think anybody has any other motives than where Brownie is and if he is safe.

Maybe Morgan, I understand what you are saying, but the OP brought some of this on with her conflicting stories to different parties and her unwilling attitude to both possible solutions and homes for the horse. While it was obviously still her decision to make, what you are seeing here is frustration regarding this animals fate.

I just read this thread. Sickening. I really, really hope someone can confirm that the horse is OK.

I sent a private message to the OP right after the original post. I had two people who were very interested. Others also indicated interest. One friend who was interested could have had a trailer at her place that day. But instead, from what she said, she preferred to go the easy and possibly vindictive route. So maybe I do have an ax to grind…with someone with such a callous, vindictive attitude. And a liar boot.

It was really too hard to find some freaking trees for shade/shelter, throw up some t posts and electrobraid around it to buy some time to figure out what to do? Seriously? Shame on you, OP. I hope this solid citizen found a responsible new home. As for the OP? Maybe Breyer horses would be a better option, since you have a hard time treating the living breathing kind with respect. Every horse deserves for you to at least ensure it’s safe future.

Wow, I have boarded at 3 barns that the horse could have lived a wood free existence.

I can fully understand getting rid of a horse that is chewing your property and doing damage… but euthanizing him or sending him to another home where there is wood… when you have offers from people with no wood on a property is ridiculous.

Magnolia73…the OP LIED. He had no history of wood chewing. He was obviously stressed at her place and STARTED wood chewing. From what his previous hunt stated:

“Brownie” has been on staff with the hunt for a total of 9 years . In those 9 years he never shown the vice in which he is being accused of . Several members have gone over to the kennels and photographed the oak stall and the 20 acre board fencing in which Brownie has lived in for the past 9 years. Guess what, no damage .Obviously Brownie is very stressed, homesick and I am sure “hungry” from being confined to a dirt lot. To threaten to “kill” a sound, wonderful and sweet horse , after “promising a forever home” is unforgivable !Furthermore, to be “happy” that a 100 year old hunt club is folding , is disgusting … What "true foxhunter would be happy to see hounds , horses and a loyal staff of 35 years lose their homes and jobs? Not a nice person at all would wish or be happy about that… It has come to the hunts attention that Brownie will be going to the Huntsman at the Camargo Hunt in KY . I am sure the MFH ( **who owns the former home , stables, and kennels where Brownie lived & worked for 9 years ) will be in contact with the hunt club to pass along complete details needed on this hardworking and wonderful hunting horse. This is so very sad.

And lovey1121, we are not speculating that the OP wanted him dead…her own words:
The huntsman will use him as a guest horse if the hot wire works and he doesn’t tear the barn down.

If not, he’ll be hound food.

It’s really a shame, otherwise, he couldn’t be a nicer horse.
Why don’t those of you who think some of us are overly critical read the entire thread before making comments?

just my 2 sense!

Coupla thoughts here:

 1. Who buys a fieldhunter on the net? From just pictures? Without trying it? This is at least the second one too. You gotta do your homework imho.
 2. Who blames a hunt if the horse doesn’t work out for them? Would OP like it if we all blamed her home hunt for HER behavior?!!
 3. All horse sales are risky. Get over it! All horses have holes somewhere; it’s the buyers job to find them!
 4. There didn’t seem to be any effort to work with/investigate/fix the problem imho. Horse seemed too “disposable” to her.
 5. I hate when huntpeople take this stuff public; I think it just gives the “antis” ammunition that foxhunters are a feckless lot. She mighta done better to not have published this online. Maybe she’s just an attention seeker.
 6. Some problems are best dealt with privately perhaps.
 7. Some horses are part beaver; deal with it.

Just for the sake of argument, you have independent confirmation that the second anonymous poster was truthful?
