If it was a free lease versus a transfer of ownership, then why would OP need to buy the saddle at all? I know other lessors who want the horse/pony to go in certain tack and they supply that tack (for free) if it’s such a big requirement. What happens when pony goes back (not going down the road of the promise to keep her for ever and ever–because if they were going to keep the pony forever, then at some point saddle may well have fit OP’s kids), does PO have to buy saddle back? Who is the one to decide depreciation at that point?

I think the thread on Wild Eyed N Wicked was around 140 pages. Russian Roulett thread was 101.
What about that one about the dressage guy who trained the appy to “airs above ground”?
Thanks ybiaw. It was a nickname from a high school reunion:
“You don’t look any older, you just look like you need a nap.” Somehow I really liked it.
And I do try to get naps whenever I can!

This may not have been said before, I believe VineyRidge alluded to it, but I don’t care how long you talk, text, e-mail, Skype, etc., until you meet someone in person, you can’t really get the feel of their jib, so to speak. I have had some wildly inaccurate impressions of what some COTHER’s were like in real life, until they throw in a bit of their own info from left field, such as “I need to lose 100 lbs.” or “I am over 70, I am so old.” Or invite you to take a look at their profile picture.
(I’m looking at you LadyLexie, you told people to look at your profile pic to check out your hair color, but OMG).
Well, that was rude, bless your heart.
Appy “airs above the ground”? That’s hard to compete with but we have had some magnificent tangents here about open trailers, extraneous (or not) saddles, not-so-secret identities etc. Not sure this thread has the staying power of Secretariat but we can do better than a mere thirty pages…

Nick P? Pretty sure that one got closed down WAY before that.
If the OP, PO, or the PO’s mare’s breeder shows up…it has potential.
Then that should have been said before the OP even got it in her head to come down.
It was PO’s preference that I and at least one of my children fly to FL to try the pony before we made any decisions.
This makes perfect sense to me, so I guess we will always be left to wonder why it wasn’t the same stipulation for the OP.

Best quote on the thread!
Yeah, rude, I’ll own it. But she directed people to look at it in a thread about hair color, knowing full well that her hair color was nearly invisible in the picture. There were other aspects of that picture, most notably the dominatrix whip, that were much more front and center.
I don’t think she is shy about it, and my comment is mild compared to those of some of the other people who checked out her picture, at her direction.
She may have changed it by now, so you would have no idea what I am referring to. Kinda not used to seeing someone looking like this on COTH. Thus my point about how your impressions of people might be wrong. And it has nothing to do with her looks. Just the S&M gear.
Oh, is that what the Lady refers to?
edit: should I side-eye everyone with “lady” in their username?
What about the Lady Mafia?
And you wonder why people take a flier at the Cranbury Auction?
^ side-eyes

Oh my. OK, I can see the reason behind your OMG comment now! I retract my “bless your heart”!
LOL!!! Oh, very clever, FirstImpression!! Now that I know the breed (and the size) you are oh, so right.
Ich bin Pony Owner indeed.

Just wanted to weigh in and say that I figured out who PO was from the various little bits of info provided, and I am an idiot, so if I could figure it out, anyone can! So all of you who want to protect her may want to remove one or more of your bits.
Of course, now that I know who it is, I am quite on PO’s side, for various reasons.
This may not have been said before, I believe VineyRidge alluded to it, but I don’t care how long you talk, text, e-mail, Skype, etc., until you meet someone in person, you can’t really get the feel of their jib, so to speak. So when OP showed up with the ENTIRE family in tow, and I can totally understand why she did, it may have been overwhelming to PO. And totally threw everything she may have wanted to say out of her head.
Who the heck knows? One of the very first horse people I met told me she was unfit to work around people, that’s why she works with horses.
My last piece of wonderful wisdom goes to the person who speculated that maybe the trailer was a dirty mess and that may have given PO some pause, but with a newly rented for the occasion trailer, I doubt that.

I was just telling a friend about the very nice, horsey woman who was starting a horse training, boarding and breeding business. She had just moved here from Mass, had two college girls in tow and came to buy some jumps and tack I had for sale. Boy could she talk the talk. For about 30 minutes. Then I saw a couple of red flags that led me to believe she wasn’t quite as experienced with horses as she claimed.
When I googled her, this is what I found. OMG!!!
This is actually the first link I found. There’s lots more, this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Not cool. Please edit your post. PO is intentionally staying out of the fray and it’s very smart of her I think. Really not cool.

Well - I was reading that hair color thread, and I don’t consider myself a prude (I am in San Francisco, I see naked people on the street weekly) - but a profile picture for a horse board, featuring a bustier, and NO PANTS kinda caught my attention.
Not sure when it was changed - but today’s picture is much more tame. She has bottoms on.

Oy. A colleague of mine had dealings with her.
Back away quickly.
