Word to the Wise: Lesson Reminder for Everyone

I had no issue with ponies until I went to college and started riding IHSA…then it became apparent that as I am only 5’2" I had to ride the ponies…all the tall people would draw, smile and say “Why I am too tall to ride Whistle” and quickly put the paper back and draw another…

So I rode Whistle alot

So Saddle, let me introduce you to Cyndi Lauper:

Welsh ponies are really cute too. Almost as cute as German Riding Ponies.

Glad that the Saddle likes to sit on ponies since some ponies have trouble with saddle fitting. Sure hope that The Trailer likes trailering ponies to shows.

We saw a camel, a big grown camel, and a 5 month old camel and some goats and sheep and a donkey in a huge enclosed trailer at the gas station yesterday. And another trailer followed it full of ponies. All had been getting their health certificates at the vet’s office next door. Both were stock trailers, but very long and with compartments. All headed to NY for some festival. Long trip for all of them in those trailers. Would The Trailer be willing to carry that huge adult camel and the baby camel to NY? And would the Saddle be willing to sit atop that adult camel? One lump or two? It was one hump lump. Is that dromedary?

yes, I like welsh ponies. Some of them are very round and fat. I like that kind because it is easy to ride them since thier barrel is big. Except I think saddle fitting is not so easy since they don’t have withers.

Is hoop tree the best kind for round ponies? The GRP sometimes have more withers so I think it is easier for them.

I’m still feeling like I ate too much in the Vegas trip. So many nice people though so it was worth it. Met another nice lady who is Dutch and has I think some western horses. Nor the usual combination? I used to view dutch as mostly dressage and jumpers but if you go to US, you learn different things.

How many types of ponies who are true ponies have done well against the big horses, in dressage? in jumpers?

I would really love to know what OP thinks when they read this tread.

Truly. O.O

Off to read the Open Trailer forum.

She keeps checking back on it, but I feel like we were cheated with a good flouncing, either from the thread or COTH in general. Usually when we get this many people telling the OP they were in the wrong, we get a decent flounce.

I think most people have forgotten who the OP was, and what this thread was originally about, anyway.

Which is probably just as well.

It is very sad really. So maybe we can just forget the OP and discuss about ponies instead since that is what I was trying to do is find a good home. So for now my home is ponies home. That is ok. My son can rider others.

OP wanted to buy a pony, I discussed with her about it in email and by phone. OP showed up and well that is the subject of much talk on COTH. I think it is sad that it got bad like it did. So now we can discuss about other things.

I was making a joke, hard to communicate that on the internet.

But good synopsis. Even shorter, negotiations ensued for free pony, buyer showed up, seller didn’t think buyer could afford to care for the pony/family wasn’t suitable, buyer is pissed because she expected to take pony home.

Now back to the guacamole, suitability of ponies for adult equestrians, or a discussion on trailers.

I was reading about GRP and learned that in the past, certain european registries were using trakehner, hanoverian, but was not successful. Why was that happening? Something I read about said pony qualities were lost, but what does losing pony qualities mean? Height? or other characters?

I’ve been hiding out in the house while the yard guys are here mowing and weed eating. I’ve read 30 pages (sort of) of this thread.

I was able to contact the pony who told me in no uncertain terms that “I just couldn’t take ALL that talking, talking and more talking. FOUR HOOVES DOWN! No one should be concerned because I wasn’t going on that trailer anyways. Nope, I wasn’t going.” Said Pony.

I do have a bareback pad (pink with peace signs) for sale, it’s priced at 30K and comes with a horse.[/QUOTE]

I’ll take the bareback pad, but the pony better be a 17-ish hand pinto jumper.

I love ponies, and wish I were more pony sized! Unless its a very round pony, I look a bit like a mushroom cap up there.

I would adore having a Welsh SuperCob to develop for dressage. Power, strength and sportscar agility. Wahoo!

I actually own a pony now – it’s a Paso Fino, which is a horse, but he’s 13.3.

He’s great! I am a very short person, 4’11", and he fits me very well. So +1 for pony sized mounts.

Exactly. First calling everyone mean and bullies, then flouncing off. We shall have to make our own fun without OP. Besides, some nice person has probably offered her a pony, and now that pony won’t get vet care just like the rescued TB mare doesn’t get vet care.

Can’t wait to see where Pony and Saddle and Trailer and Pony Owner go next. Maybe back to Florida? Or to Kentucky? Will we see them all on TV in the infield or stands at the Derby?

Yes, German Riding Ponies are warmbloods who did not grow up to be 18 hand behemoths.

I MADE IT!

Hi everyone. I started this thread on Monday and here I am. I deserve a prize. Or wine. Or heavy medication.

What? You are OP???

This is the part that rubbed me the worst. I have zero respect for people who get animals they cannot afford to care for. Vet care on a starved horse is not something you should be saving for and holding off on getting the horse seen until you get the money together. Basic vet care should be a line item in an animal owner’s budget. Doubly so if you are getting a less than healthy animal. If you can’t afford a vet, you can’t afford a horse, much less a second one!

End rant. I’m really getting tired of people and should stay off CL and fb until every animal in the world has a decent home with a good owner
