World Cup 2015 Las Vegas hotels

If you are planning on going, you might want to consider making your room reservations now, if you can. There is a big broadcasters convention (90,000-100,000 attendees) that overlaps the first few days of the world cup. I was just looking at Embassay suites and they don’t have many rooms left. Hotels in Vegas usually charge for the first night on your credit card and you can cancel it if you find a better rate/hotel without charge (usually within 72 hours or less of your arrival date).

I am looking now for my room. Prices are high because of that convention.

Broadcasters convention: April 11-April 16.
World Cup: April 15-19.

Thanks - anyone have favorite hotels near the venue? I’d like to be able to walk, and rent a car for further afield trips…or take public transport if it is easy enough.

Here’s a map with hotels: https://www.google.com/maps/search/hotel+map+las+vegas/@36.0998643,-115.1515476,16z

Best Western is right across from the venue and a bunch of hotels right behind it next to the airport. Not a lot of access to food and such, but a good place to keep a car.

Motel 6 is on the other side of the airport behind Hooters, Tropicana and MGM Grand–more of a walk to the venue (maybe a mile?) but closer to the strip.

Hard Rock and Embassy Suites are sort of to the side of it between the venue and the strip, which is maybe 1 1/2 miles? Hyatt Place Las Vegas is right across the street. There’s some more up off Flamingo.

The strip is really hard to stay on as it takes forever to get in and out of there and you don’t want to park a car.

Beentheredonethat obviously has beentheredonethat, eh? Thx.

The “host” hotels do have transportation shuttles to and from Thomas & Mack. Cabs go there, but you would have to call them to return, they do not have a cab line there. Parking is limited, and priority is given to the College students. You really are better off to use the shuttle service if possible.
Hotel-wise, walking is a bit of a hike from MGM, etc…and with that heat, not something I would recommend! LOL
If you have or know anyone with timeshares, see if you can go that route for a condo and share expenses!
Vegas is easy to get around in and there is much to see and do there…
Hoping to see/meet some COTH’ers there again in 2015…

I stayed at the MGM last time with someone. It was literally a 15 minute hike from the room to the place where the shuttle was. It was cool, though, as we met Christiansen (sp?) the guy in charge of Hannovarian inspections on the shuttle and got to talk about breeding, though. It would have been almost less time to walk out the back door to the Thomas and Mack.

You have to really look at distances and be careful. Two “blocks” on the map can be two miles–probably about that from the strip to the Thomas and Mack. But, it’s much better than dealing with the parking or driving anywhere near the strip.

I think I’ve been there three times for the World Cup in April and it’s never been hot, so good thing about that.

Parking is no problem on the strip. Just valet park and pay a couple of dollars when you pick up the car.

Need a hotel? I can help.

AWESOME! I’ve just sent you an email, and CC’ed my two friends who are going as well.

Does anyone know where the shuttles are likely to go to/from? I already have a hotel that is ~2 miles from the venue, but that might be a little far to walk, especially late at night!

Shuttles are the best for unexpected meetings.

After the Atlanta Olympics I was on the shuttle going back to the parking lot and met Isabell Werth’s sister. Isabell had won the individual and team gold medals, and now I’m sitting next to her sister ! Her sister !!! ( I was star struck). She signed the back of my Olympic tickets for me. And I wrote “Isabell’s Werth’s sister” next to her signature.

…such a tourist…

WorldCupHost - that’s terrific. We’ll be in touch.

Hi Mr. Devin (WCH). I am going to contact you also as I have been looking at the prices for that weekend and they are really high. Last time it was in Vegas we stayed at the Bellagio for more reasonable rates than they are offering now, even accounting for inflation.

Last time they were in LV we stayed at the Alexis Park Hotel and Suites. It’s inexpensive, and just a short walk to the Thomas and Mack. We avoided parking and shuttles altogether. There are plenty of nice restaurants close by and if we wanted to go to the strip it was an easy cab ride there. The suite had a nice kitchen and living room. We were very happy—those that gamble might not be, however as it is a gamble- free place.

Nancy

Thank you. Looking forward to helping out.

For those who have bought your tickets, did they tell you the host hotels?

I don’t remember seeing anything about host hotels in the package. We’re staying at the MGM.

We play a game on facebook called MyVegas. It is free and you can earn great stuff like free shows, buffets, rooms etc.
Last time we were in Las Vegas, we got tickets to Love, a suite at the Mandalay Bay, 4 Bellagio buffets, desserts at the pastry shop at the Aria, $150 food credit to the Camelot Steakhouse just for playing a free game.
There are a few of us dressage folk playing. Plenty of time before the world cup to earn some meals.

Anybody checked with Rich Devin (above post) to see what he has to offer and suggest where some of us can book into the same hotels? He has 8 to chose from.
