World Cup 2015 Las Vegas hotels
Last time the Swedes had their amazing gathering at the Embassy Suites. Pretty cool to have Jab Brink, Kyra Kyrklund, Leslie Morse, and all the great riders of Swedish horses there to talk and listen to. Last year there was a great breeder’s conference of the best breeders from all over the world. Totally cool.
Btdt, is the SWANA event open only to active SWANA members? What about the breeders conference, assuming they hold it again? In other words, what would I have to do to attend these or similar events?

You know, I don’t know. I’ll look into that. I would assume because SWANA is fairly small, it’s open to anyone. I’ll send them an email and let you know.

The breeder’s conference was a press thing. I just sent in for my press credentials (whoop! whoop!) and they will send out a press kit of what’s going on after Feb. I think. I’ll let you know. I think you “could” have gotten to the one last time. It was held at Thomas and Mack when no showing was going on. There were some other parties and such that you had to have a pass to get into (saw George Morris there!)

Another thing I found out was to hang out at the bars in the hotels where the riders stay. Last time I hooked up with a Dutch boutique breeder and ended up at the MGM bar with Anky, Sjef, Edward, Hans, etc.

They really SHOULD do a lot more things like this open for everyone, right? Such an opportunity to get people from all over the world in one place. I do not know if other breeds do such things. I will see what I can find out!

Sad news. SWANA is not planning on dong an event, so far.

Here are some super deals on hotels, some for the dates of the World Cup:

Well that’s disappointing. It sounds like it was a terrific event in the past.

I know. I might see if I can talk her into something. I did get “yet” in the answer.

Once I get the press kit, hopefully there will be other things, too. that other organizations are doing. Hm. It’s such a good venue, I wonder if some other breed organizations are doing anything. Does anyone know?

Used to do dog/cat shows & expos there, would be great if somebody got an event together @ the same hotel! Good luck. My last was @ the Flamingo.

I am staying at my Mom’s house overlooking the 1st green on the golf course so there is little chance of running into any riders there. Keep us posted if you hear of any events that the public can attend please.

I’m staying at the Luxor. Does anyone know where I could catch a shuttle to the arena?

I’m betting the host hotels all have shuttles, but it depends. More will come out when it gets closer. Luxor is somewhat walkable. You’ll get good exercise. I’ve walked from the MGM and Motel 6 to Thomas and Mack.

I’m waiting with baited breathe for the first information to be sent out for press kits. I will reach out to who I can to see if anyone is setting up events. If you are a member of any of the organizations, like breed ones, dressage, or jumping, check in with them and see if they’re planning anything, and let me know.

Hint, hint. Hanging out at the rider’s hotel at the bars is a good way to run into a lot of rider’s. Last time I went to the Paris bar with a Dutch reporter and the whole Dutch dressage team was there having drinks.

luv2ride–seeing your sig line–George Morris was at one of the cocktail parties for the press last time. One of the few jumper people I would recognize.

I just found this. Karin Offield did this write up on the Swedish breeder’s meeting in 2009. I am going to email her and see if I can stir something up. She was a major supporter of the last world cup. http://www.offieldfarms.com/OF/breeding-today-where-are-we-las-vegas-2009-vs-today-in-breeding-compliments-of-warmbloods-janfeb-2014-today

Thanks Beentheredonethat. I stayed at the Excelsior last time and our group rented a shuttle to take us to and from the arena. This time, I’m going with a friend and we will be doing everything on our own.

It depends on what?

From Post #56, November 4, 2014, directly from the organizer:

"Received this from Las Vegas Events:

Official Web Site: http://www.worldcuplasvegas.com/

Host Hotel: http://www.worldcuplasvegas.com/home/hotel

Note: the rates provide on each booking page are the best available rates for the event.

Just to confirm, all four hotels will have a complimentary shuttle to and from the Thomas & Mack Center. This shuttle service is being provided by the event organizer, Las Vegas Events.

We have not yet finalized our shuttle schedule and once we do we will send out all details to each of the four host hotels. In the meantime, you may call these hotels and given the size of their operation, someone may mistakenly tell you that they do not offer shuttle service. Rest assured Las Vegas Events will be providing service.

Probably Excalibur

MGM would be closest host hotel. You could either walk to MGM or ride the monorail over to Excalibur to save a little walking. There are pedestrian bridges that go over Tropicana Avenue to NYNY, or you can cross at Excaliber to Tropicana Hotel and then over to MGM.

Thanks Joanne. I’m so looking forward to this trip. I don’t want to miss any show jumping or dressage because of transportation issues.

I am staying at Caesar’s and will walk across to the Bellagio to catch the shuttle.

Just booked into the same Staybridge Suites hotel we were in last time (2009). We rent a car, so distance isn’t an issue, but it’s still not far from T & M - just behind the Luxor off the strip. 1 bedroom deluxe King suite for under $150/night. And I can tell you - it’s gorgeous and clean, and you don’t have to eat out every night since you have a full kitchen.

Bumping this up because there was a miscommunication and we didn’t have the room we thought we did. Oops!! Anyone not cancelled theirs yet?
