World Cup Las Vegas 2020

I didn’t get that from the website; what I read says:

02.28.2020
Las Vegas, Nevada Ӣ Thomas & Mack Center -
Las Vegas Events, the Local Organizing Committee for the FEI World Cupâ„¢ Finals, and the Thomas & Mack Center, along with the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority and our resort partners continue to monitor COVID-19 and communicate with our local health officials. To date, there are no travel restrictions imposed on the destination. We remain committed to following the protocols and guidance suggested by the CDC and the Southern Nevada Health District, as the safety and health of our employees and guests remains of utmost priority. In addition, the Thomas & Mack Center will maintain its own safety protocols which will include numerous hand sanitizing locations on site.

All the current CDC guidance is about NOT travelling outside of the US to certain countries, limiting exposure to large groups of people and precautions such as washing your hands.

I took the sentence “to date there are no travel restrictions” as a realization that there may, at sometime, be travel restrictions.

For the World Cup there are people coming from all over the world… I am not sure how this is going to work out…

There’s quite a bit of room between possible travel restrictions and “they are prepared to cancel if need be”

That said, the coronavirus is nasty business, however, there’s no need to panic. Prepare, yes but not panic.

cdc.gov is the website for the US Center for Disease Control. Here’s another good, imo, informative link: https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2020/03/03/811656226/pandemic-panic-these-5-tips-can-help-you-regain-your-calm

I’m well aware of the issue, because I read.

Yes, the way some people are behaving is a sad commentary on some members of the general public’s ability to reason.
The hit that sales of Corona beer has taken being the weirdest example.

We’ve yet to have any cases identified in Colorado, but there has already been one large convention canceled in Denver.

Apparently Asian restaurants, especially Chinese, are suffering due to public ignorance. I made a point of patronizing my local Chinese restaurant for take-out this afternoon.

I got my tickets via Fedex today. Looks like they spent some $$$ on printing.

I’ve been holding off on buying air tickets. Washington state says they’re preparing for more strict measures such as cancelling public gatherings, which kind of makes me wonder. A lot of companies have stopped air travel as well.

Mine are supposed to arrive today as well. So excited!

Considering how much COVID-19 is developing each hour and day, WC is so far away.
I highly doubt it will be cancelled, and I am sure a lot of the initial hysteria will die down between now and a month from now.
I hate the hassle of flying though anyway, I’m actually planning an early replacement of my car specifically in time to drive to WC.

I don’t know, Austin just cancelled South by Southwest. Maybe because some of the big dogs (microsoft, apple, others) pulled out.

Got my tickets today! I hope this damn virus doesn’t put the kibosh on it! Or keep all the best Europeans from coming!

I am hoping that another few weeks may turn the tide. Have my tickets (looks like I may have one full pass for sale, if someone is looking.) Keeping my fingers crossed.

Local city has cancelled a few things like road races, and colleges are sending students home. I would not be surprised if the event is cancelled.

Not any scientific word

Again, I’m not saying panic, just be practical and wash your hands.

I’m watching closely to see if they cancel. If this gets worse, I hope they do. The shopping venue will be a nightmare, packed like sardines & everyone touching everything.

I’ve been on the fence about whether I want to go, even if it’s not cancelled. I had a horse shopping trip booked this weekend that I have been going back and forth on cancelling as well - the more I read about it/ think about it, the more I feel like I should cancel all non-essential travel plans. I’'m in a region with community spread and upwards of ~100 confirmed cases (Bay Area). I’m not in a risk group, but I also want to be a responsible citizen. I’m worried about my parents. There is so, so much uncertainty right now. There’s also a lot of grim predictions. Blergh.

From the article: “If Americans conclude that life will continue mostly as normal, they may be wrong. The United States is far less prepared than other democratic nations experiencing outbreaks of the novel coronavirus. Low case counts so far may reflect not an absence of the pathogen but a woeful lack of testing.”

The National Broadcasters Convention has now cancelled their convention in Las Vegas.

April 18-22. Attendance 100,000.

There was a Women of Power summit at the Mirage 3/5 through 3/8. Someone there had the virus and spread it to at least 2 other people.

they shut down the whole of Italy… And Spain is starting to consider something similar :(. I have no idea how they cannot cancel the finals… Soccer matches in Europe are performed without spectators… its pretty scary… I am not concerned for myself but I do accept that potentially spreading it by unnecessary travel activity can harm others and also I don’t want to get caught anywhere simply because everything is shut down… In Austria tourists are not allowed to stop anywhere if they pass through… and no Italians are allowed to enter Italy…
